    Karadi 2

Music, poetry, storytelling, and lively color come together to make each of these book/cassette sets attractive. Each tape starts with a song in which Karadi introduces himself as a teller of stories. Karadi's nephew cubs are arguing and fighting as he arrives on Sunday, story-telling day. Their squabbling evokes this good story of friendship. The story is told in traditional fashion, except that a mole replaces the usual rat. The tortoise wears spectacles. The visual of the hunter running from the scene includes a ghost that is only suggested in the text as a fear of that some strange spirit would follow him. Dondu is the donkey star of the second story. He likes to sing. He once grew fat on his favorite cucumbers. Contentment with his cucumbers led him one evening to sing out. The villagers came and beat him. This simple Panchatantra story is new to me. The books and audio cassette come together in a cardboard package. Though I will list each set under both books and audio cassettes, I will keep them together in their packages under books.Script & Direction by Shobha Viswanat

Theoretical and experimental evaluation of structural and optical properties of novel zinc-benzimidazole metal complex doped in polystyrene matrices

    No full text
A novel zinc incorporated benzimidazole metal complex (diacetobis (1H-benzimidazole) Zn(II)) is synthesized by a simple chemical route. The structure of the obtained complex is predicted using FTIR and EPR spectroscopy and further confirmed using semiempirical simulation of vibrational frequencies. Theoretical energy gap of the complex is about 3.2 eV and the hyperpolarizability calculations show that the third harmonic generation dominates over other mechanisms in the complex. Recorded absorption spectrum of the complex shows a broad absorption band between 200 and 300 nm corresponding to pi-pi transitions. To evaluate the third order nonlinear optical properties experimentally, the complex is doped into a polystyrene matrix with different weight percentages and fabricated as freestanding films. The films are subjected to Z-scan analysis and from the open and closed aperture scans the samples are found to have a reverse saturable absorption and self focusing effect. The calculated third order susceptibilities are of the order of 10^{-4} esu, which is one of the largest reported in literature

The priority for ideas and philosophy related to "Network Theory" have been traced back and documented by Braun(2004),and credit goes to Karinthy(1929).The IT has empowered to realise it, as the most practical phenomena and it is no more a humour. The OAI (Open Archives Initiatives)and ACIS (Academic Contributor Information System)are progressive in the direction ,which may lead to realise the "Collective Genius" at global level. Focus of present study is on Author-Self-Archiving (A-S-A)Metadata of the 983 Eprints in the Live Archives of the E-LIS (EPrints of Library and Information Science),which were approved till 7th July 2004.The A-S-A Metadata was used for librametric analysis. Self-explanatory bibliographics are illustrated. The highlights include: Conference papers (34%); highest approval, June 2004 (28%); published archives (76%);not refereed (52%); not in public domain (60%); highest self-archiving-author (De Robbio, Antonella). The Nos. of EPrints having single JITA domain specifications were: Theoretical and general aspects of libraries and information(27); Information use and sociology of information(80);Users,literacy and reading(13);Libraries as physical collections(30);Publishing and legal issues(57);Management(13);Industry, profession and education(36);Information sources, supports, channels(113) ; Information treatment for information services, Information functions and techniques (101); Technical services libraries, archives and museums(25); Housing technologies(1); Information technology and library technology(92); and Inter-domainery (395) i.e. having specifications of two or more than two JITA classes

Global marketing information database management system

A global oil and gas industry survey shows that there are 228 Floating Production Systems which were constructed from year 1977 to year 2003. It forecasts that 236 new Floating Production Systems would be required to increase the oil and gas production rate within year 2008. For better information sharing, it would be beneficial for world professionals, economists, offshore contractors, marketing personnel, and oil companies to have a single source from which information can be gathered about world Floating Production Systems. In this work, a so called A Global Marketing Information Database Management System (GMIDBMS) for oil and gas industry is proposed and developed by the author to achieve single source of Floating Production Systems technical and marketing information. With GMIDBMS, global oil and gas industries can share the information in order to construct more number of Floating Production System in short period of time.Master of Science (Computer Integrated Manufacturing

Robust Eigensystem assignment in multi-input systems

    No full text
Using simple geometric concepts it is shown that system sensitivity to parameter perturbation stems from the numerical illconditioning of the normalized modal matrix (matrix of eigenvectors) to inversion, which is quantified by the absolute value of its determinant. By noting the freedom in partial election of eigenvectors, beyond eigenvalue assignment in multi-input state feedback systems, an optimization procedure is formulated to maximize the modal matrix determinant and thus minimize eigensystem sensitivity.
