LHCb results on exotics and pentaquark states

    No full text
The latest years have seen a resurrection of interest in searches for exotic states. Using the data collected at pp collisions at 7 and 8 TeV by the LHCb experiment, unambiguous new observations of exotic charmonia hadrons produced in B and Lambda(b) decays are presented. Results of a search for a tetraquark state decaying into B-s(0)pi(+/-) arealso reported

Production and spectroscopy of open-flavoured hadrons at hadron colliders

    No full text
Studies on the production and spectroscopy of heavy hadrons provide important inputs to test the reliability of several models and techniques. Recent results on the production of the charmed and beauty mesons and baryons at hadron colliders are summarized. The observations of new excited heavy hadrons and new Bc+B^+_ c decays are also presented

A Dalitz plot analysis of D0 events reconstructed in the hadronic decay D0 → K0K+K- is presented here. The analysis is based on a data sample of 91.5 fb- 1 . Herewith enclosed is an updated, preliminary analysis of DsJ states using 125 fb-1 . All data have been collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e- storage rings at SLAC running at center-of-mass energies on ; 40 MeV below the Υ(4S) resonance. Charmed meson decays: Theoretical overview ; experimental results

    No full text
The study of the charmed meson decays is getting a renewable interest because it provides a critical input to the CKM-γ measurements. In addition the discovery of new physics can be revealed in the search for the mixing ; CP violation ; the large coupling to the light mesons makes charm decays an important probe of light meson spectroscopy. The Dalitz plot technique ; a selection of recent experimental results are briefly reviewed. © Società Italiana di Fisica

Measurement of the CKM angle γ from a combination of LHCb results

    No full text
    A combination of measurements sensitive to the CKM angle γ from LHCb is performed. The inputs are from analyses of time-integrated B+ → DK+, B0 → DK∗0, B0 → DK+π− ; B+ → DK+π+π− tree-level decays. In addition, results from a time-dependent analysis of Bs 0 → Ds ∓K± decays are included. The combination yields γ = (72. 2− 7.3 + 6.8)°, where the uncertainty includes systematic effects. The 95.5% confidence level interval is determined to be γ ∈ [55.9, 85.2]°. A second combination is investigated, also including measurements from B+ → Dπ+ ; B+ → Dπ+π−π+ decays, which yields compatible results.[Figure not available: see fulltext.] © 2016, The Author(s)

    Search for lepton-flavor and lepton-number violation in the decay tau(-)-> l(-+)h(+-)h '(-)

    No full text
A search for lepton-flavor and lepton-number violation in the decay of the tau lepton into one charged lepton and two charged hadrons is performed using 221.4 fb(-1) of data collected at an e(+)e(-) center-of-mass energy of 10.58 GeV with the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II storage ring. In all 14 decay modes considered, the observed data are compatible with background expectations, and upper limits are set in the range B(tau ->center dot lhh('))<(0.7-4.8)x10(-7) at 90% confidence level

Study of B-0 -> rho(+)rho(-) decays and constraints on the CKM angle alpha

    No full text
We present results from an analysis of B-0 ->rho(+)rho(-) decays using (383.6 +/- 4.2)x10(6) B (B) over bar pairs collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B factory at SLAC. The measurements of the B-0 ->rho(+)rho(-) branching fraction, longitudinal polarization fraction f(L), and the CP-violating parameters S-long and C-long are as follows: B(B-0 ->rho(+)rho(-))=(25.5 +/- 2.1(stat)(-3.9)(+3.6)(syst))x10(-6), f(L)=0.992 +/- 0.024(stat)(-0.013)(+0.026)(syst), S-long=-0.17 +/- 0.20(stat)(-0.06)(+0.05)(syst), C-long=0.01 +/- 0.15(stat)+/- 0.06(syst). We determine the unitarity triangle angle alpha, using an isospin analysis of B ->rho rho decays. One of the two solutions, alpha=[73.1,117.0]degrees at 68% confidence level, is compatible with standard model-based fits of existing data. Constraints on the unitarity triangle are also evaluated using an SU(3) symmetry-based approach

    Heavy quark spectroscopy

    No full text
Spectroscopy of hadrons containing heavy quarks is an important part of the LHC physics program. Precise measurements of observables like hadron masses are crucial to test the validity of QCD models, and at the same time they give the opportunity to search for new particles and previously unobserved decay modes. A large amount of results in hadronic spectroscopy has been already produced by ATLAS, CMS and LHCb experiments with data collected at √ s = 7 TeV. This review summarizes the most relevant measurements of heavy hadrons masses, many of which are already more precise than the previous world best values. Particular emphasis is given to the first observations of new particles, and to the interpretation of some controversial exotic states
