Partendo dall’analisi dell’anti-edipo, si guarda all’inconscio come macchina operante nella società degli schermi, scisso dalla linearità del concetto classico di storia e oggetto di nuovi prolungamenti e interazioni sociali.This paper focuses on the new expression dynamics the unconscious accesses through the instant messaging app called Snapchat. In Anti-Oedipus, Deleuze and Guattari point out how the individual can no longer be defined through psychoanalysis, as Freud did with the Oedipus complex. From the understanding of its opposite attitude – the anti-Oedipus – the unconscious is a new type of machine acting inside a society made by screens. Having been released from the standard time-line history concept, the unconscious is now free to extend itself with different forms of social interactions

No full textLa tesi propone un’analisi delle edizioni di Primo Levi in lingua inglese apparse negli USA dal 1959 ad oggi. La storia di ogni pubblicazione è finalizzata alla comprensione e valutazione della ricezione del testo e dell’autore da parte del pubblico statunitense, a seconda del periodo storico di riferimento.
Le discrepanze a livello cronologico delle edizioni americane rispetto a quelle originali sono state accompagnate da lacune ed imperfezioni nella resa della traduzione, le quali hanno contribuito a delineare una tradizione dell’opera Levi in America differente da quella dello scrittore in Italia.
Diverse variabili sono concorse a definire il quadro storico-sociale e letterario in cui Primo Levi è diventato un autore di successo nel panorama americano, prima fra tutte l’elaborazione e trasformazione della Shoah in oggetto culturale dagli anni Sessanta in poi. Questo fenomeno, unito alla diversa percezione che si ebbe del genocidio ebraico rispettivamente nei contesti italiano e statunitense del Secondo Dopoguerra, hanno costituito il punto di partenza iniziale entro cui ripercorrere le differenze e le assonanze che hanno caratterizzato la produzione di Levi fuori dai confini nazionali.
In ultimo, si è cercato di individuare le difficoltà traduttologiche presenti nella lingua e nello stile dell’autore, concentrandosi da vicino sull’analisi e confronto di alcuni esempi di traduzione tratti direttamente dal testo

Abstract
Over the last 70 years, Holocaust representations increased significantly as cul-
tural objects distributed on a large scale: fictional books, museum sites, artworks,
documentaries, and films are only a few samples of those echoes the Holocaust
produced in contemporary Western culture. There are some specific patterns in
the way the Holocaust has been represented that, however, contrast with the
survivors’ account of the same event: for example, the dichotomy between bad
and good characters so essential within Holocaust-based media – especially
on television and film - does not really match with the testimony’s experience.
While storytelling strategies may help to involve the public by emotionally en-
gaging with the story, the risks of altering the real meaning of the Holocaust
are quite high: what we often label as a “story” is actually been an outrageous,
documented mass-genocide. Furthermore, as the age gap between the present
and the past generation progresses, also the collective awareness of Nazi crimes
as a real fact gets compromised.
This volume explores selected Holocaust narrations by contextualizing the histor-
ical, literary, and social influences those texts had in their unique points of view.
Starting with some recent examples of Holocaust exploitation through social
media, the first chapter explores the paradigm shift when the Holocaust became
a cultural, fictional trend rather than a historical massacre. In the second chap-
ter, the analysis examines postmodern representations of Holocaust and Nazi
semantics through relevant examples taken from both American and European
literature. The third chapter analyses Europe Central by William T. Vollman, as all
the narratological and cultural issues considered in the previous two chapters
are well outlined in this articulated novel, where the relationship between real-
ity and its representation after the postmodernist period is largely investigated.
In chapter four, an account is given of the connections and differences between
the narratological category romance, as understood by Northrop Frye, and Holo-
caust narration features. In chapter five, those elements are used to consider the
work of Italian Holocaust survivor and Jewish writer Primo Levi, as his narration
around Auschwitz adopts some fictional tools and still refuses undemanding sto-
rytelling mechanisms. The sixth and final chapter examines the relevant novel Les
Benviellants by Jonathan Littell, considering its Nazi genocide account through
the antagonist’s perspective

No full textPrimo Levi is widely recognized as one of the most influential authors on a global scale. The 2015 republication of his works by Norton-Liveright, NY underscored his significance beyond Italian and European borders. This ambitious project greatly enhanced the international reception of Levi’s work, setting a new standard for the accessibility of his literature to non-Italian-speaking readers, and encouraging further research within the Italian landscape as well. However, Levi’s recognition in the United States is relatively recent. From the 1960s to the mid-1980s— a period marked by his most significant literary activity in Italy— Levi was largely overlooked in the U.S. This delayed recognition was influenced by editorial and translation choices that were often marked by inaccuracies, as well as the historical and cultural context in which his initial English editions were introduced to the American market. This article examines the pivotal points in the translation and publication journey of Levi’s works in English, comparing features such as translation quality, the treatment of titles and historical-literary references, and the role of paratexts and essays by both the author and the publisher
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
