Nanoengineered material based biosensing electrodes for enzymatic biofuel cells applications
In the last few decades, biofuel cells have been explored extensively as an emerging technology and achieved the status of critical research endeavours among the intellectual communities working on power crisis across the world. The researchers around the globe are concentrating on harnessing the unique atomic and molecular properties of advance engineered materials, including nanotubes, nanosheets, nanoparticles and conducting polymers, on account of their capability to aid in the generation of efficient electricity from biological substrates using numerous biocatalysts. Because of the enhancement of nanotechnology, substantial milestones have been achieved in the realm of the biofuel cell, even though it is still challenging to uphold the performance of these cells. Implementation of nano materials and conducting polymers for biofuel cell assembly has been widely anticipated as an effective and capable approach to attain high power generation. In this review, we have documented the relevant and exciting methodologies used in the development of the enzyme based biofuel cells (EBC), focused on glucose as biofuel, using different nano materials utilized for EBC and emphasized the revolutions in this field. Every aspect of biofuel cell system including the fundamentals, charge transfer as well as the role of nano materials and conducting polymers in matrix development of electrode materials and its fabrication has been elucidated. To summarize the latest trend an extensive table has been incorporated including bio-sensing electrode, the enzymatic system mediator and output power density. Analysis of Wide Modified Rankin Score Dataset using Markov Chain Monte Carlo Simulation
Brain hemorrhage and strokes are serious medical conditions that can have devastating effects on a person's overall well-being and are influenced by several factors. We often encounter such scenarios specially in medical field where a single variable is associated with several other features. Visualizing such datasets with a higher number of features poses a challenge due to their complexity. Additionally, the presence of a strong correlation structure among the features makes it hard to determine the impactful variables with the usual statistical procedure. The present paper deals with analysing real life wide Modified Rankin Score dataset within a Bayesian framework using a logistic regression model by employing Markov chain Monte Carlo simulation. Latterly, multiple covariates in the model are subject to testing against zero in order to simplify the model by utilizing a model comparison tool based on Bayes Information Criterion
Demographic and clinico-pathological profile of carcinoma stomach in a tertiary referral centre of Eastern India
Objectives: This prospective study was done to assess the incidence, clinical presentations, histopathological subtypes of gastric adenocarcinoma in a referral institute of Eastern India. Methods: The patients admitted with diagnosis of gastric carcinoma in a tertiary referral hospital in Eastern India between January2006 to December2010 were included in this study. Data were compiled and analyzed with regards to their age, sex, socioeconomic status, their clinical presentations, site of lesion & histopathological subtypes. Results: 150 patients were included in this study of which 50 patients were of ≤50 years age. The median age group was 57 years. The male: female ratio was 2.3:1. Most of the patients were from lower socioeconomic strata (55.33%). Anemia (41.33%) and weight loss (38%) were the predominant presenting features irrespective of age, whereas gastric outlet obstruction due to antral growths was the commonest presentation in patients of ≤50 years age group. The most common histopathological type was adenocarcinoma; patients of≤50 years of age group presented with well differentiated and moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma while those in >50 years age group with poorly differentiated growth. Most (82.66%) of the patients presented with advanced growth(T3/T4). Conclusion: 1) The incidence of gastric carcinoma in patients younger than 50 years was more common than Western world. 2) Patients are presenting more with lesion in distal stomach than Western world. 3) Gastric outlet obstruction and metastatic disease are commoner than abdominal lump and upper GI bleeding. The latter being the commoner presentations in Western world. 4) Regarding the histological type, adenocarcinoma are commoner than in Western world and 5) Patients with signet cell subtype are much less than Western world

Liposomal theranostics have shown significant progress in preclinical and clinical cancer models in the past few years. Liposomal hybrid systems have not only been approved by the FDA but have also reached the market level. Nanosized liposomes are clinically proven systems for delivering multiple therapeutic as well as imaging agents to the target sites in (i) cancer theranostics of solid tumors, (ii) image-guided therapeutics, and (iii) combination therapeutic applications. The choice of diagnostics and therapeutics can intervene in the theranostics property of the engineered system. However, integrating imaging and therapeutics probes within lipid self-assembly “liposome” may compromise their overall theranostics performance. On the other hand, liposomal systems suffer from their fragile nature, site-selective tumor targeting, specific biodistribution and premature leakage of loaded cargo molecules before reaching the target site. Various engineering approaches, viz., grafting, conjugation, encapsulations, etc., have been investigated to overcome the aforementioned issues. It has been studied that surface-engineered liposomes demonstrate better tumor selectivity and improved therapeutic activity and retention in cells/or solid tumors. It should be noted that several other parameters like reproducibility, stability, smooth circulation, toxicity of vital organs, patient compliance, etc. must be addressed before using liposomal theranostics agents in solid tumors or clinical models. Bayes Analysis of mRS Followup Data in the Presence of Multiple Categories
Situations are often encountered, especially in medical sciences, where observing each stage of an event is necessary and overlooking it might be risky for the wellbeing of an individual. Keeping the same very viewpoint, this article presents the analysis of a real Modified Rankin score data with multiple responses from a Bayesian perspective using polytomous logistic regression model. The study involves utilizing the Markov Chain Monte Carlo technique for acquiring samples from the resulting posterior distribution. Finally, to check the scope of the model simplification, several covariates have been tested against zero and then a comparison between the full model and the simplified model has been proposed based on deviance information criterion
