Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Continuous Zoom by Two Fix-Focal-Length Cameras
相較於變焦鏡頭的複雜構造,定焦鏡頭的構造簡單、體積小、影像清晰,這使的它們成為手機相機的主流選擇。相對的,這也代表著絕大多數手機都完全沒有光學變焦能力,只能依靠犧牲影像品質的數位變焦,造成使用上的不便。 這篇論文提出方法以雙定焦鏡頭的配置處理此問題。在手機上設置兩個焦距一長一短的定焦鏡頭,可直接拍攝兩張Zoom-in與Zoom-out效果的影像。我們提出的演算法以短焦距影像為基底,並將長焦距影像的高頻資料轉移至其上,合成介於兩相機焦距之間任意焦距的影像,以此方式模擬雙相機間的連續變焦。 我們使用工業相機組合了一個原型雙相機系統用以拍攝實驗資料。實驗影像結果證明,我們的演算法在有長焦距影像覆蓋的區域能獲得非常清晰銳利的影像結果。無覆蓋範圍若我們有可用的影像材料,也可達到比A+單影像超解析演算法更佳的結果,若否,透過切換演算法,我們最終的影像結果不會差於A+超解析演算法。Compared to the complex zoom-lens cameras, the fix-focal-length cameras are lighter, more compact, and are able to capture sharper images because of their structural simplicity. These qualities make them the choice for most smartphones in the market. But using fix-focal-length lens also means that these smartphone cameras can not do any zooming without sacrificing the image quality, which is an inconvenience for users. In this thesis, we propose a way to improve the zooming ability of smartphone cameras with the dual-camera setup. With two fix-focal-length cameras (one with short focal length, the other with long focal length) on the device, we are able to capture zoomed-in and zoomed-out images directly. And with our proposed algorithm, we can generate the image of any intermediate focal-length by using the short-focal-length image as a base, and then transferring high-frequency data of the long-focal-length image on it. We built a prototype camera system with two industrial cameras to capture our test data. Results of our experiments show that our method can generate excellent images at the area that is covered by the long-focal-length image, and for the non-covered area, depending on the image content, we can generate results that are better or as good as A+''s results
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
The design and application of Odonate teaching modules
本研究主要探討實施蜻蛉目昆蟲教學模組之設計與教學運用,對於國小五年級學生環境教育五大內涵之影響。研究者以桃園縣二所偏遠山區國小(19人)與一所都市國小學生(23人)為研究對象,實施蜻蛉目昆蟲教學模組課程,教學模組課程共分為三大主題,共有「蜻蜓生態」、「數位學習」、「蜻蜓保育」,課程總計10節課。在研究過程中,研究者為實際課程教學者,配合班級導師進行課程評鑑,結果符合教學模組課程設計評鑑指標。在教學前後實施「蜻蛉目昆蟲教學模組之設計與教學運用」前後測問卷,探討實施蜻蛉目昆蟲教學模組,對於環境教育五大內涵目標是否有所提升。經由研究資料進行統計分析,獲得以下結論:一、使用「蜻蛉目昆蟲教學模組」設計環境教育課程,對於山區學生及都市學生能引起高度的學習興趣與學習成效。二、使用「蜻蛉目昆蟲教學模組」進行教學,對於國民小學五年級山區學生與都市學生環境教育五大內涵有所提升。本研究結果亦對教學模組提出相關建議:一、教學模組設計架構,可以依照教師個人專長、學生興趣、在地化教學素材實施,選定不同的昆蟲種類做為主題進行環境教育,推廣至國民小學課程使用。二、教學模組課程推廣至他校運用,實施時間與內容可依照課程規畫進行調整,融入自然與生活科技領域相關課程運用,教學模組亦可搭配其他領域程進度實施,以達到更寬廣的連結效益。This study mainly focuses on the application of dragonfly resource to the nature, living technology and environmental education, and discuss the affection of the five contents of environmental education on Fifth grade students. The objects of this study are two elementary schools in Taoyuan county of Taiwan, which are located in the country yard and city separately. The teaching model is classified into three subjects: biology of dragonfly, digital learning, dragonfly conservation, and the total number of courses are up to ten. The researchers coordinate with class teacher to evaluate the results of the study, and the results confirm with the assessment criteria of teaching model. We deliver the questionnaires, the application of dragonfly resource to the nature, living technology and environmental education, before and after the teaching course to test the affection of teaching model on the kids. There are five lines of conclusions of this study. First, both school kids are highly interested and study effectively in the dragonfly teaching course model. Second, the dragonfly teaching course model can improve the five contents of environmental education in both schools. We also suggest that the framework of course design should be planed according to the profession of teacher, students interest and local insect materials. The teaching model could be expended to other schools, and also adjusted by the class time and content. The teaching model could be arranged by other field of research, like living technology, to expand the benefits of teaching effectiveness.目錄

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation

We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
