Architectural perspectives in the cathedral of Palermo : image-based modeling for cultural heritage understanding and enhancement

and architectural solid perspective of great beauty and
in large quantity. This paper addresses the problem of
the 3D survey of these works and their related study
through the use of image-based modelling (IBM) techniques.
We propose, as case studies, the use of IBM
techniques inside the Cathedral of Palermo. Indeed, the
church houses a huge and rich sculptural repertoire, dating
back to 16th century, which constitutes a valid field
of IBM techniques application.
The aim of this study is to demonstrate the e ffectiveness
and potentiality of these techniques for geometric
analysis of sculptured works. Indeed, usually the survey
of these artworks is very diffi cult due the geometric complexity,
typical of sculptured elements. In this study,
we analysed cylindrical and planar geometries as well as

Get PDFCentral, Eastern, and South-Eastern Europe are among the regions where minority, including linguistic rights, are more developed, at least on paper. Not always, however, have these rights been fully and effectively implemented so far. Several obstacles hamper effective implementation. Besides general problems, such as high costs or administrative and organizational requirements, in many countries of Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe, linguistic rights have been granted as a concession to the international community rather than out of sincere commitment. Minority rights are thus often highly politicized. In such a context, the role of the judiciary in determining principles and criteria for the practical development of linguistic rights is of extreme importance. The paper casts some light on the adjudication of linguistic rights of national minorities in Central, Eastern, and South-Eastern Europe, by examining the relevant case law and, above all, by trying to infer the underlying principles developed by the courts. It concludes that courts are overall quite deferential to the general political climate in their respective country. At the same time, however, some judicial decisions clearly indicate that courts are gradually emancipating from the mainstream political options and are increasingly able to impose non-majoritarian decisions, thus proving evidence of a slow but evolving establishment of the rule of law

Wolfram presenta, sulla base delle testimonianze storiche ed archeologiche, la storia dei germani, la loro organizzazione sociale e politica, il loro sistema di valori e la loro religione. Il volume si conclude con una descrizione dei singoli gruppi etnici (goti, vandali, burgundi, longobardi, franchi, anglosassoni) che hanno contribuito in tempi e modi diversi al dissolvimento dell’impero romano

German actress of Turkish origin Emine Sevgi Özdamar to be represented within the
international project Odyssee Europe in Germany in the Ruhr area in November 2010.
The text is characterized by a performative language (from captions to deictic,
from interjections to the use of proper speech elements) and by the presence of nonverbal
elements.
The main aim of my contribution is to analyse the language of Özdamar in Perikızı.
Ein Traumspiel, her latest theatrical text, with particular attention to the vocabulary;
besides, in comparison with the lexicon of her narrative texts, to verify to what extent
and in what ways the theme of migration is dealt with.
At first two corpora have been made (the former containing 2 scenes from Perikızı,
the latter two narrative texts). According to a program of concordances, some lexical
items have been searched and identified; the resulting data have been compared and
analysed to identify the innovative linguistic elements in her work

No full textIl saggio indaga il complesso monumentale di Santa Caterina d’Alessandria, di Palermo, che costituisce uno dei più antichi monasteri di clausura della città. Il contributo è il frutto della ricerca condotta da Renata Prescia e Rosario Scaduto e presentata nel catalogo della mostra Sacra et preziosa Orificeria dai monasteri di Palermo capitale, tenutasi nel Monastero di Santa Caterina d’Alessandria di Palermo, 28.12.2018-31.05.2019. Grazie alla convenzione sottoscritta dal Dipartimento di Architettura e la Soprintendenza per i Beni Culturali e Ambientali di Palermo è stato possibile effettuare un particolareggiato rilievo dello stato di conservazione del monumento e presentare dei progetti per la sua conservazione. Fondamentale nella ricerca, finalizzata alla redazione dii un progetto di restauro, riuso e valorizzazione del complesso è stata la collaborazione offerta dagli allievi del Laboratorio di Restauro e Teoria e storia del Restauro (del Corso di Laurea in Architettura del Dipartimento di Architettura dell’Università degli Studi di Palermo) dei professori R. Prescia e R. Scaduto.The essay investigates the monumental complex of Santa Caterina d'Alessandria, in Palermo, which constitutes one of the oldest cloistered monasteries in the city. The contribution is the result of research conducted by Renata Prescia and Rosario Scaduto and presented in the catalog of the exhibition the Sacra et Precious Orificeria from the monasteries of Palermo capital, held in the Monastery of Santa Caterina d'Alessandria in Palermo, 28.12.2018-31.05.2019. Thanks to the agreement signed by the Department of Architecture and the Superintendency for Cultural and Environmental Heritage of Palermo, it was possible to make a detailed survey of the state of conservation of the monument and to present plans for its conservation. The collaboration offered by the students of the Laboratory of Restoration and Theory and History of Restoration (of the Degree Course in Architecture of the Department of Architecture of the University of Palermo) of the professors R. Prescia and R. Scaduto was fundamental in the research
