Impact of guidelines on hypertension control in the elderly
No full textBackground: Hypertension control is a crucial measure to reduce cardiovascular (CV) risk, and blood pressure (BP) treatment targets have been recently revised to address this issue. However, achieving the recommended goal may be challenging. Objective: We aimed to assess the prevalence of uncontrolled hypertension, according to the US hypertension guidelines, among elderly participants in an Italian nationwide epidemiological survey, the relevant clinical correlates, and the agreement with the application of the European guidelines. Methods: Elderly (≥65y) volunteers enrolled in an Italian nationwide survey underwent BP measurement using standard protocols. Uncontrolled hypertension was defined as BP≥130/80 mmHg. Agreement of this definition with those from European guidelines (≥140/90 mmHg; ≥140/80 mmHg) was tested using Cohen’s kappa. Self-reported information on modifiable/non-modifiable CV risk factors was also collected. Results: Of the 13,162 treated hypertensive elderly, 69.8% had uncontrolled hypertension. They tended to be overweight/obese men with diabetes. Overall agreement between US and European guidelines was poor to good (κ = 0.289, p<0.001 and κ = 0.691, p<0.001 based on the 140/90 and 140/80 mmHg threshold, respectively). Elderly participants with controlled hypertension were more likely to report a history of CV or chronic kidney disease. No difference in lifestyle habits was observed by BP control status. Conclusion: Real-world data identify limited concordance between guidelines in terms of BP target achievement among older hypertensive Italians and highlights the need to spread awareness of the CV risk, especially in the presence of diabetes and obesity

No full textLa sezione "La persona e i segni", aperta dal capitolo "Il testo e il tradurre", sta al centro di "Presenza e Ulteriorità" . Nel 1992, anno della pubblicazione del libro, Alici scriveva che la traduzione non godeva in filosofia di un’adeguata attenzione, perpetuando così il diffuso fraintendimento che «una teoria del significato possa svilupparsi senza tematizzare adeguatamente il fenomeno della mediazione interlinguistica e il nesso tra distanza e prossimità» . Traduttore de La città di Dio di Agostino, in quest’affermazione vibrava la consapevolezza dell’importanza del gesto traduttivo nel quale si incrociano la distanza dall’autore (e dal suo tempo) e la prossimità della verità che attraverso il testo non smette di interpellare.
Oggi i testi di “filosofia della traduzione” sono numerosi e attestano fino a che punto le osservazioni di Alici fossero capaci di intercettare l’importanza di una via all’epoca inesplorata che tuttavia Presenza e Ulteriorità tratteggiava anticipando ricerche successive. Lo faceva senza ignorare la ricerca che la linguistica, attenta al gesto traduttivo, svolgeva e avendo come obiettivo una “teoria filosofica della traduzione” tesa tra presenza e ulteriorità. Lo faceva, infine, incrociando motivi che un autore con cui si confrontava in queL testo, Paul Ricœur, avrebbe svolto negli anni successivi

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Inoltre il saggio si sofferma sulle lezioni del 1924 di Heidegger, dedicate ai "Concetti fondamentali della filosofia aristotelica". Qui vengono discussi analiticamente i concetti fondamentali di arete, hexis, pathos, mesotes. Ciò che più colpisce è però la rilevanza assegnata al concetto di cura, ugualmente centrale nella reinterpretazione heideggeriana dell’etica aristotelica

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.
