Group motivation-focused interventions for patients with obesity and binge eating disorder
Lack of exercise and overeating/unhealthy eating are the main causes of the worldwide escalating global epidemic of overweight and obesity (Pietrabissa et al., 2012)—as defined as a body mass index (BMI) over 30 (Spiegelman and Flier, 2001).
The consequences of excess weight range from serious negative health outcomes, to increased risk of premature death. Obese persons—especially those seeking weight loss treatment (Brennan et al., 2014)—also demonstrate high rates of psychopathology, including mood disorders (i.e., depression, anxiety and low self-esteem) (Luppino et al., 2010) and eating disorders (i.e., binge eating disorder—BED; Succurro et al., 2015).
These result in significantly impaired health-related quality of life (Slagter et al., 2015; Afshin et al., 2017) and loss of productivity (Fontaine and Barofsky, 2001; Robroek et al., 2011). Obesity and its associated problems also have a growing economic impact on the health care system (Hammond and Levine, 2010; Castelnuovo et al., 2016)

syndrome, and his experience with the Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD).
My name is Serena, I am a 25 year old psychologist, and with the present contribution
I would like to give the reader an idea of what it means to face, from both my
personal point of view and, indirectly, though my brother’s words, the diagnosis of
a genetic disease that makes ICD implantation necessary to survive. Specifically, I
would like to try to explain how the implantation of the device affects the individual’s
life, relationships, and even parenting; but also how a person can successfully
learn to live with a defibrillator, seeing the ICD as an important resource

The information technologies described in these notes are
not yet fully available to general surgeons but will quickly
develop and translate into products that will become familar
to us in the next generation of our operative rooms. These,
will probably be interventional suites capable of imaging
fusion and navigation technology not only for the benefit of
general surgeons, but for all the different professionals that
already base their treatment modality on images. We do not
need to invent new technology, since most of what is needed
to accomplish this change, and that was described above, has
already been developed or theorized. It is only necessary to
decide how to use existing technology to create new devices
and develop clinical applications for their use that will make

A reinforcement learning approach to call admission and call dropping control in links with variable capacity
This paper defines a reinforcement learning (RL) approach to call control algorithms in links with variable capacity supporting multiple classes of service. The novelties of the document are the following: i) the problem is modeled as a constrained Markov decision process (MDP); ii) the constrained MDP is solved via a RL algorithm by using the Lagrangian approach and state aggregation. The proposed approach is capable of controlling classlevel quality of service in terms of both blocking and dropping probabilities. Numerical simulations show the effectiveness of the approach. © 2011 EUCA
A new LP formulation of the admission control problem modelled as an MDP under average reward criterion
The admission control problem can be modelled as a Markov decision process (MDP) under the average cost criterion and formulated as a linear programming (LP) problem. The LP formulation is attractive in the present and future communication networks, which support an increasing number of classes of service, since it can be used to explicitly control class-level requirements, such as class blocking probabilities. On the other hand, the LP formulation suffers from scalability problems as the number C of classes increases. This article proposes a new LP formulation, which, even if it does not introduce any approximation, is much more scalable: the problem size reduction with respect to the standard LP formulation is O((C+1)(2)2(C)). Theoretical and numerical simulation results prove the effectiveness of the proposed approach
A Multi-Model Reference Control Approach for Bandwidth-on-Demand Protocols in Satellite Networks
Internal Model Hop-by-hop Congestion Control for High-Speed Networks
This paper presents a hop-by-hop congestion control for highspeed networks. The control policy relies on the data exchange between adjacent nodes of the network (nearest-neighbour interaction). The novelty of this paper consists in the extensive use of Internal Model Control (IMC) to set the rates of the traffic flows. As a result, the proposed congestion control provides upper-bounds of the queue lengths in all the network buffers (overflow avoidance), avoids wasting the assigned capacity (full link utilisation) and guarantees the congestion recovery. Numerical simulations prove the effectiveness of the scheme
