On a quasilinear parabolic system modelling the diffusion of radioactive isotopes
We consider a model for the diffusion of N species
of isotopes of the same element in a medium, consisting in a
parabolic quasilinear system, with Dirichlet boundary condition,
in the general hypothesis that the diffusion coefficients possibly
are all different. We prove existence and uniqueness of classical solution in the physically relevant assumption that the total
concentration of the element is positive and bounded
A ziphodont crocodylomorph from Villaggio del Pescatore Lagerstätte (Campanian, Italy)
Crocodylomorph diversity in Europe peaked during the Late Cretaceous, with eusuchians dominating the fossil record. However, ziphodont forms, including the enigmatic Doratodon, are increasingly recognized from multiple Santonian–Maastrichtian European localities. A new occurrence from the earliest Campanian Villaggio del Pescatore site in northeastern Italy represents the most complete notosuchian from the latest Cretaceous Mediterranean carbonate platforms. High-resolution micro-computed tomographic imaging reveals key dental features, including alternate, asymmetric tooth replacement and varied tooth morphologies lacking denticulated carinae. The preserved neurovascular architecture of the specimen also provides new data on trigeminal innervation, suggesting high tactile sensitivity. Comparisons with both eastern and western European taxa support the hypothesis of biogeographical partitioning between the western Ibero-Armorican region, the Adriatic–Dinaric Carbonate Platform (ADCP), and the remaining eastern European archipelago. The Villaggio del Pescatore occurrence increases the faunal diversity from the site and strengthens the biogeographical links between Italian and other eastern European faunas, while also emphasizing evolutionary divergence from western forms, such as Doratodon ibericus. This specimen bridges a gap in the geographical distribution of Doratodon-like forms and suggests intermittent faunal exchanges across ADCP landmasses, underscoring the pivotal role of the ADCP in the persistence, diversification, and dispersal of ziphodont crocodylomorphs and other vertebrates across the Late Cretaceous European Archipelago
Converging Universes and Media Niches in Serial Narratives: An Approach Through Information Architecture
The paper deals with the models of convergence pertaining to the audiovisual media production, with specific reference to serial narratives. In fact, the peculiar features of this kind of audiovisual products, such as expansion and persistence over space and time, allow a privileged point of view on convergence phenomena.
The paper adopts an interdisciplinary approach through the use of conceptual tools coming from several disciplinary fields, namely film and media studies, but also media economics and information architecture. Our ultimate purpose is to offer a cross-disciplinary perspective capable of taking advantage from all those fields together. In order to do so we apply information architecture and cross-channel user experience principles (such as consistency, resilience, correlation) to the media field, adopting an overall ecosystemic perspective, and focusing on the bias between local experience (that of the single product) and global design (that of the whole ecosystem) and vice-versa.
Furthermore, we focus on three different production strategies we name derivation, cross-media and ecosystem, investigating them mainly in cinema, television and gaming production and highlighting the misalignments between project and practice, as well as the eventual forms of conflict and of adverse reactions to the planning. We account for divergence models that lead to the building of “media niches”, which often remain external or peripheral to the circulation and delivery of media contents as, for instance, the fan use and re-appropriation of media contents linked to specific gender practices and identities
