    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed.     Variations on the Author

    “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.     IDENTIFIKASI KANDUNGAN FORMALIN DAN KORELASI PENGETAHUAN DENGAN SIKAP PEDAGANG IKAN ASIN DI PASAR BARU JUWANA

    Processing fish into salted fish is an ancient traditional way that is still widely done in various countries including Indonesia. Although salted fish is very popular with the public, public knowledge about salted fish that is good and safe to consume is still less, it  was evidenced by the many circulating salted fish sold in the market containing formalin. The purpose of the study was to identify the formalin content in salted fish in the Pasar Baru, Juwana, Pati City, knowing the character of traders, and the correlation between knowledge and the behavior of salted fish traders.  The research methods carried out are by survey method, formalin testing with test kit and Correlation test.  The results showed that fish products sold in Pasar Baru Juwana Pati as much as 27.7% of salted fish samples positive for formalin.  Types of salted fish products that contain formalin are rebon, teri nasi, sepat, cumi, juwi, kipas, petek, layur, and petek,, Formalin levels are as low as 1.50 mg/kg and highest at 43.49 mg/kg.  Characteristics of traders are traders generally aged 51-60 years; most (91.6%) women, more who attend elementary school – high school (58.3%), all married, the longest trading is 0 - 10 years, generally the cost needs to trade around Rp 100,000 – Rp 500,000 and  daily income selling salted fish, around Rp. 100,000 – Rp 500,000. The results of the correlation test between the level of knowledge and the behavior of traders show a very strong relationship.Pengolahan ikan menjadi ikan asin adalah cara tradisional kuno yang masih banyak dilakukan di berbagai negara termasuk negara indonesia. Meskipun ikan asin sangat digemari masyarakat, pengetahuan masyarakat mengenai ikan asin yang baik dan aman dikonsumsi masih kurang dibuktikan dengan masih banyak beredar ikan asin diperjual belikan di pasar mengandung formalin.Tujuan penelitian adalah mengidentifikasi kandungan formalin pada ikan asin yang ada di Pasar Baru Juwana Kota Pati, mengetahui karakteristik pedagang, dan korelasi antara pengetahuan dengan perilaku pedagang ikan asin. Metode penelitian yang dilakukan yaitu dengan metode survey, pengujian formalin dengan test kit dan metode SNI-2354-18:2018 serta uji Correlation Pearson. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan produk ikan yang dijual di Pasar Baru Juwana Pati sebanyak 27,7% sampel ikan asin positif mengandung formalin. Jenis produk ikan asin yang mengandung formalin adalah rebon, teri nasi, sepat, cumi, juwi, kipas, petek, layur, dan petek,. Kadar formalinnya terendah 1,50 mg/kg dan tertinggi 43,49 mg/kg. Karakteristik pedagang adalah pedagang umumnya berumur 51-60 tahun; sebagian besar (91,6 %) perempuan,  lebih banyak yang bersekolah SD – SMA (58,3 %), semuanya sudah menikah, lama berdagang yang  terbanyak  0 – 10 tahun, umumnya kebutuhan biaya untuk berdagang sekitar Rp 100.000 – Rp 500.000, dan sebagian besar berpendapatan perhari berjualan ikan asin, sekitar Rp  100.000 – Rp 500.000. Hasil uji korelasi antara tingkat pengetahuan dengan perilaku pedagang menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang sangat kuat

    Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

    We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods

    We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used

    Karakteristik Proses Pembekuan Sotong (Sepia sp.) Whole Clean

    Cuttlefish atau sotong merupakan salah satu komoditas perikanan yang berperan sebagai sumber protein karena mengandung sejumlah asam amino esensial lengkap dengan nilai cerna tinggi. Tujuan penelitian mengetahui alur proses Cuttlefish Whole Clean, mutu, rendemen, produktivitas, serta penerapan kelayakan dasar (Sertifikat Kelayakan Pengolahan). Metode pengambilan data dengan observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi, dan studi pustaka. Proses pembekuan cuttlefish whole clean terdiri dari penerimaan bahan baku, pencucian I, sortasi I, penimbangan I,  penyiangan, pencucian II, perendaman soaking, sortasi II,  penimbangan II, pencucian III, penyusunan dalam pan, pembekuan, glazing, pengemasan dan pelabelan, pendeteksian logam, pengepakan, dan pemuatan. Hasil uji organoleptik bahan baku dan sensori produk akhir mendapatkan nilai rata-rata 8. Hasil uji mikrobiologi bahan baku dan produk akhir Salmonella dan E. coli negatif dan nilai ALT tidak melebihi SNI. Hasil pengamatan rendemen pada tahap penyiangan adalah 58,55±2,87%. Nilai produktivitas tenaga kerja pada tahap sortasi 25,34±1,73 kg/jam/orang dan penyusunan pan 4,25 ± 0,95 kg/jam/orang, dan tahap penyiangan nilai 10,15 ± 1,23 kg/jam/orang. Penilaian kelayakan dasar memperoleh peringkat Sertifikat Kelayakan Pengolahan (SKP) dengan rating B (baik) yang terdapat 5 penyimpangan, yakni serius 1, mayor 2, dan minor 2
