Lettres familières écrites d’Italie, published posthumously in 1799, analyses the
Italy Charles de Brosses visited in 1739-40. Through expressions, figures of speech and linguistic curiosities, this study aims at retracing the main gastronomic stages of the eighteenth-century journey through delicious fruit, varied dishes and local recipes. All of them convey aspects of a country with multiple aptitudes, which reveals itself to the eyes
of a mid-eighteenth-century Frenchman as a kaleidoscope, where any expression
composes the unity of meaning. The facts analysed will contribute to highlight this French traveller’s clichés and prejudices, according to occurrence, expressions and figures methodology, and emphasising the author’s informal writing
FLE (Français Langue Étrangère) Learning Strategies in the Light of the Neuro-Linguistic Approach
The purpose of this paper is to highlight the impact of Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP) on the Neuro-linguistic Approach (NLA), which is the former's most natural application in the teaching field. NLA is not envisaged as a substitute for the language teaching approaches that have emerged in recent years, but aims essentially to define the so-called perceptive channels indicated by the acronym V.A.K.O.G. which underpin every form of learning and language learning in particular. On the basis of the studies of Claude Germain and Joan Netten inspired by the research of Michel Paradis into bilingualism, the principle of littératie (information literacy) is adopted in order to establish the relationships between harmony and anchoring, and between the communicative approach and NLA. References and studies on neurological pathologies find that declarative memory and procedural memory follow different processes and that knowledge and ability follow distinct cerebral paths. Harmony between individuals and anchoring to subjective elements lead researchers to set up efficacious and long-lasting learning paths
Choosing between Single and Multiple Sourcing Based on Supplier Default Risk. A Real Options Approach
The selection of a given purchasing strategy is a central activity in risky environments. Single sourcing, a powerful approach in a stable environment, can amplify a firm’s exposure to risk (e.g., supplier’s default) in the presence of uncertainty. Multiple sourcing, however, presents higher costs due to the management of more than one supplier. A correct evaluation from a risk management perspective is needed. This paper proposes the Real Options approach for valuing the probabilistic benefits of multiple sourcing in managing the supplier default risk (to be compared with the related higher costs). A computational model, based on the Monte Carlo simulation, was developed. The results show the (probabilistic) advantages of adopting the multiple sourcing strategy in risky environments for a specific case. The proposed sensitivity analysis is aimed at identifying the impact of the most important transactional parameters on the differential benefits of the two sourcing strategies. Thus, the model and its managerial implications represent a valid support for the decision-making process in the presence of uncertainty
Supply Chain Resilience strategies to cope with COVID-19 pandemic. An empirical analysis in Italian firms
Coronavirus COVID-19 represents one of the most disruptive events that have characterized modern supply chains over the last decades, influencing a reconfiguration of sourcing strategies and supply chain design in most of the industries. The existing studies on this topic are still largely focused on theoretical contributions and case studies, advocating in-depth analysis on how firms are practically adopting supply chain risk mitigation approaches to reengineer and adapt supply chains to future challenges. The scope of this paper is twofold. First, the paper proposes a theoretical framework, based on a literature review, that analyzes the links between COVID-19 impacts and supply chain resilience capabilities, e.g., flexibility, efficiency, agility, responsiveness, investigating the role of digital technologies as a potential key resource to improve the effectiveness of supply chain resilience, under the lens of key capabilities. Second, the paper empirically tests the framework by analyzing - through a semi-quantitative method - a set of primary data collected in a sample of 164 Italian companies, where key respondents are mainly supply chain managers, purchasing managers and logistics managers from several industries

Risk Mitigation in Take or Pay and Take and Pay Contracts in Project Financing: the Purchaser’s Perspective
In off-take agreements purchasers commit themselves to purchase a predefined quantity of the commodity produced by the project. If the buyer fails to take the contracted capacity, he should pay a penalty. With the option capacity clause, the available capacity is offered to other purchasers, and to the extent that they purchase it, the initial buyer is relieved of the penalty. The aim of this paper is to develop a computational model based on real options to estimate the value of this risk mitigation tool from the buyer’s perspective. The model and its results can be very useful for determining the fair value of the contract. Thus, they can be used by the buyer during the decision whether to enter into the contract or not, and during the negotiation phase
