The word ‘archetype’ is derived from the Greek words arche meaning ‘first’ and type meaning ‘imprint’ or ‘pattern’. Actually, the archetypes are like deposits of experiences that have been frequently repeated in the history of human beings. They are present in all humans from birth. They can be represented in dreams, fantasies, or as a story, as a pattern or image such as mandala, or as an archetypal or mythical character. Jung believes that the archetypes are not memories of past experiences but are forms without content that represent a certain kind of perception and action. They offer a kind of preparation to produce similar mythical ideas again and again. Jung discovers that, since we have different cultures with different people, we have different kinds of archetypes – some known, many others yet to be discovered. In this regards, in the followings the archetypes Anima/Animus and Wise Old Man are discussed in Six Characters in Search of an Author to show how the question of reality, illusion and the oxymoron illusive reality as a major theme haunts Pirandello`s play. Keywords: Jung, Anima, Animus, Wise Old Man, Pirandell

Edebî eserde kodlanan kolektif bilinç dışı unsurları belirlemeyi hedefleyen arketipsel eleştiri, Carl Gustav Jung tarafından şekillendirilmiştir. Yazar ya da şair, ortak/kolektif bilinç dışında yer alan arketiplere seslendiğinde bireysellikten evrenselliğe uzanabilmektedir. Cumhuriyet dönemi şairlerinden olan Asaf Hâlet Çelebi; Budizm, Eski Doğu inançları, tasavvuf ve Türk divan edebiyatı geleneğine göndermelerde bulunarak mistik bir anlayışla şiirlerini yazar. Masalsı bir atmosfere sahip olan şiirlerinde; bilinç dışında yaşayan hayallerini, insan ruhunun ortak yanlarıyla kaynaştırarak ifade eder. Şiirlerinde yer alan bilinç dışı izlerden birisi de, erkekteki dişil yön olarak tanımlanan “anima” arketipidir. Bu çalışmada, Asaf Hâlet Çelebi’nin şiirlerinde anima arketipinin dışa vurumları araştırılmış ve elde edilen bulgular değerlendirilmiştir. Yapılan çalışma sonucunda Jung’un, her bireyin ortak/kolektif bilinç dışında yer aldığını vurguladığı arketiplerden olan anima arketipinin, Asaf Hâlet Çelebi’nin şiirlerinde de etkin bir şekilde kullanıldığı görülmüştür. Böylece şairin arketiplerden yararlandığı, şiirleri sayesinde bilinç dışındakini bilinç düzeyine çıkarabildiği ve bireysellikten evrenselliğe uzanan köprüyü arketipler ile kurduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.The archetypal critic that aims to detect collective unconscious objects coded in literal works is formed by Carl Gustav Jung. When author or poet used archetypes of humanity, he/she may reach to universality from individuality. Asaf Hâlet Çelebi who is one of Republic period poets, expresses his unconscious dreams by mixing common traces of human soul in his poems that have epic atmosphere. One of the unconscious traces in his poems is “anima” archetype that is defined as feminine side of male. In this study, expressions of anima archetype in Asaf Hâlet Çelebi’s poems are surveyed and outcomes are evaluated. The performed study have shown that anima archetype which has been expressed by Jung as a common/collective unconscious archetype in every person is widely seen in Asaf Hâlet Çelebi’s poems. Therefore, it has been discovered that Poet benefited from archetypes and outcomed the unconscious things to consciousness level. Once all the obtained results of this study are evaluated, it is seen that the bridge from single personality to universality can be formed by using archetypes in literal works

Philoponus, Stephanus and the De Anima

The Greek commentary on Aristotle’s De Anima is assigned by Michael Hayduck to Philoponus, except that he assigns Book 3 to Stephanus. The true continuation of Books 1 and 2 is now known to be a Latin text which claims to be a translation from Philoponus. Peter Lautner, however, contends that both the full commentary and the stray Book 3 are by Philoponus. Pantelis Golitsis argues that Philoponus composed the stray Book 3 while the full commentary is by his tutor Ammonius. Here it will be argued that: (a) Lautner is probably right to deny the stray Book 3 to Stephanus; (b) the criteria employed by Golitsis suggest that Philoponus had a hand in both the Greek and the Latin Book 3; (c) Philoponus is therefore likely to be the author of both the full commentary, as editor of Ammonius, and the stray Book 3 in his own right

Peptic ulcer disease, affecting up to 20% of the global population, poses a significant health challenge with limited treatment options due to side effects and the inefficiency of existing drugs. This study explores the potential of penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) as targets for peptic ulcer treatment. PBPs, critical for bacterial cell wall integrity, are inhibited by beta-lactam antibiotics, leading to bacterial vulnerability. Flavonoids, prominent in plants, exhibit antimicrobial and gastroprotective properties against peptic ulcers. A docking analysis of 35 phytochemicals from the Artocarpus plant against PBP (PDB code: 1QMF) revealed artocarpin as a promising candidate (docking score: −148.24 Kcal/mol). Artocarpin exhibited interactions with key amino acids and demonstrated favourable in silico pharmacokinetics, including high absorption and good drug-likeness. Additionally, engeletin 5 and rutin showed significant docking scores (−134.89 and −148.07 kcal/mol, respectively). Artocarpin, identified as a potential H. pylori inhibitor, presents a promising avenue for peptic ulcer treatment, warranting further exploration of its therapeutic application. This study contributes valuable insights into the molecular interactions of phytochemicals with PBPs, paving the way for novel and effective approaches in peptic ulcer therapy

537-542With the change in the present scenario of globalization, the importance of standardization of traditional formulation has been more stressed out than before. The major objective of this study was the development of an analytical method for the estimation of some important constituent, pesticides, elemental study of the formulation anti-oxidant activity and to study the effect of conversion of churna to granules of in-house and marketed samples. So, a suitable plan was designed to get comprehensive standardization of this formulation Ajmodadi churna. The paper demonstrates the feasibility of the conversion of Ajmodadi churna in granules form and estimation of piperine: cucalyptol, caryophyllene, and eugenol were done using HPTLC, these constituents have an important role in the activity. Eugenol and Eucalyptol were found more in sample A. Our results demonstrate that Piperine was found more in sample B. A study on pesticide residue was done by the TLC method. None of the samples showed the presence of pesticide in the solvent system. Elements are toxic for the body so its determination is also important for the formulation. The micromeritic properties of prepared granules were also studied. The granules showed better flow property than the powders. Antioxidant activity in different samples was observed. Sample A (in-house formulation) showed better antioxidant activity than sample B (marketed formulation). Superior results are seen from the conducted experiments. Importantly, our results provide evidence for a new approach that could also be useful for the standardization of ayurvedic formulation using modern techniques

558-562Indian traditional medicine is based on various systems including Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani. The evaluation of these drugs is mostly based on phytochemical, pharmacological and allied approaches including various instrumental techniques like chromatography, microscopy and others. The present paper aims to standardize the ayurvedic formulation of caturajata churna containing four ingredients, Darusita, Cinnamomum zeylanicum, Ela, Elettaria cardamomum, Patra, Cinnamomum tamala, Nagakesara, Mesua ferrea using modern technique such as ash values, extractive values moisture content by carrying out all four ingredients of the formulation. Preliminary phytochemical screening of caturjata churna was carried out using methanol as solvent. The study was carried out in marketed formulation against in house formulation of caturjata churna. It was observed that almost all the parameters are comparable with the marketed formulation. Some are not due to the geographical variation of the raw materials
