Measurement of the the B+/B0 Production Ratio from the Upsilon(4s) Meson using B+->Jpsi K+ and B0->Jpsi Ks Decays
The discovery of two new surprising D-s states
The BaBar experiment has discovered an unexpected new narrow state, D-sJ*(2317)(+) in the inclusive D(s)(+)pi(0) invariant mass distribution from e(+)e(-) annihilation data at energies near 10.6 GeV. The same experiment has also shown evidence for structure in the 2.46 GeVc(2) region in the D-s*(2112)(+)pi(0) mass spectrum. These discoveries have triggered a search in several experiments for new states coupled to the D-s(+) meson which have confirmed the existence of D-sJ*(2317)(+) together with D-sJ(2458)(+) --> D-s*(2112)(+)pi(0) both in inclusive e(+)e(-) annihilation and in B-decays. These two new states are difficult to explain in terms of potential models
Super B factories
The Physics motivations for a super B Factory are shortly summarized with special emphasis on spectroscopy issues
Charm and charmonium spectroscopy from B-factories
New and recent results are presented on charm and charmonium spectroscopy from BABAR experiment at SLAC. In particular, measurements on D-sJ states branching fractions have been performed both in B-decays and inclusive e(+)e(-) -> c (c) over bar interactions. Here a search for D-sj (2632) has been performed and a new D-sJ state at a mass of 2.856 GeV/c(2) has been observed. A search for Y(4260) has been performed in exclusive D (D) over bar production from initial-state radiation
Measurement of the Spin of the Omega(-) Hyperon
A measurement of the spin of the Omega(-) hyperon produced through the exclusive process Xi(0)(c)->Omega K--(+) is presented using a total integrated luminosity of 116 fb(-1) recorded with the BABAR detector at the e(+)e(-) asymmetric-energy B factory at SLAC. Under the assumption that the Xi(0)(c) has spin 1/2, the angular distribution of the Lambda from Omega(-)->Lambda K- decay is inconsistent with all half-integer Omega(-) spin values other than 3/2. Lower statistics data for the process Omega(0)(c)->Omega(-)pi(+) from a 230 fb(-1) sample are also found to be consistent with Omega(-) spin 3/2. If the Xi(0)(c) spin were 3/2, an Omega(-) spin of 5/2 could not be excluded
Rare B decays into states containing a J/psi meson and a meson with s(s)over-bar quark content
We report a study of the B meson decays, B+-->J/psiphiK(+), B-0-->J/psiphiK(S)(0), B-0-->J/psiphi, B-0-->J/psieta, and B-0-->J/psieta' using 56x10(6) B (B) over bar events collected at the Y(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e(+)e(-) asymmetric-energy storage ring. We measure the branching fractions B(B+-->J/psiphiK(+))=(4.4+/-1.4(stat)+/-0.5(syst))x10(-5) and B(B-0-->J/psiphiK(S)(0))=(5.1+/-1.9(stat)+/-0.5(syst))x10(-5), and set upper limits at 90% confidence level for the branching fractions B(B-0-->J/psiphi)J/psieta)J/psieta('))<6.3x10(-5)
Evidence For A Double Phi Production In The Reaction K- P ---> Phi Phi Lambda / Sigma0 At 18.5-gev/c.
Glueballs and hybrids: an experimental review
In recent years, several new mesons have been discovered which are candidates for being exotic states. However, not all of them are sitting on solid experimental grounds. There are states which suffer from marginal statistics, others have not been observed in more than one experiment and still others have quantum numbers which are subject to drastic changes. This review is intended to perform a critical analysis of experimental status of gluonium and hybrids candidates
