Alan Moore Comics as Performance, Fiction as Scalpel
Eclectic British author Alan Moore (b. 1953) is one of the most acclaimed and controversial comics writers to emerge since the late 1970s. He has produced a large number of well-regarded comic books and graphic novels while also making occasional forays into music, poetry, performance, and prose. In Alan Moore: Comics as Performance, Fiction as Scalpel , Annalisa Di Liddo argues that Moore employs the comics form to dissect the literary canon, the tradition of comics, contemporary society, and our understanding of history. The book considers Moore's narrative strategies and pinpoints the main thematic threads in his works: the subversion of genre and pulp fiction, the interrogation of superhero tropes, the manipulation of space and time, the uses of magic and mythology, the instability of gender and ethnic identity, and the accumulation of imagery to create satire that comments on politics and art history. Examining Moore's use of comics to scrutinize contemporary culture, Di Liddo analyzes his best-known works-- Swamp Thing, V for Vendetta, Watchmen, From Hell, Promethea , and Lost Girls . The study also highlights Moore?s lesser-known output, such as Halo Jones, Skizz , and Big Numbers , and his prose novel Voice of the Fire. Alan Moore: Comics as Performance, Fiction as Scalpel reveals Moore to be one of the most significant and distinctly postmodern comics creators of the last quarter-century.Intro -- Contents -- Preface and Acknowledgments -- Introduction -- CHAPTER 1. Fast methods for training Gaussian processes
This submission includes a simplified version of some code we have been developing for fast training of Gaussian processes. We also include a sample data set, which is NOAA tidal data from Woods Hole in the US, downloaded from http://tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov/ .
The code and data included here were used to produce the numerical results in the following paper:

Aluminium carboxylates in aqueous solutions .4. Crystal structure and solution-state study of K[Al(mal)2(H2O)2]·2H2O (H2mal = malonic acid)
The new complex K[Al(mal)(2)(H2O)(2)] . 2H(2)O [H(2)mal = CH2(CO2H)(2)] has been synthesized and its crystal structure determined by X-ray crystallography. An investigation of metal speciation in aqueous solution (analytical concentration around 50 mmol dm(-3)) by using Al-27, H-1 and C-13 NMR spectroscopies revealed that, in solutions at physiological pH (7.5), the bis(malonate) complex evolves to the tris(malonate), [Al(mal)(3)](3-), without precipitation of aluminium hydroxide
The composition of the electrode deposit in the Moore lamp
Citation: Haslam, T. P. The composition of the electrode deposit in the Moore lamp. Senior thesis, Kansas State Agricultural College, 1908.Introduction: The Moore lamp consists essentially of a piece of glass tubing one and three-fourths inch in diameter and four or more feet in length, into both ends of which are sealed carbon electrodes. The tube contains a gas under a pressure of about .1 mm of mercury

Even if the author has not mentioned the collector and the herbarium of deposit, this information can be obtained in this same publication. Moore (1911: 15) mentions that the collections belong to C.F.M. Swynnerton and that the types are deposited in BM. Moore (1911) mentioned the number of the collector, and the herbarium of deposit for the type material (BM herbarium), however, because there are two sheets in BM. We therefore designate the specimen in Herb. BM with barcode 000757267 as lectotype (ICN Art. 9.3), because this specimen is the only one with leaves, flowers, and fruits.</p> <p> <b>Taxonomic notes:</b> —Synonym of <i>Sparrea gomphophylla</i> (Fu <i>et al.</i> 2022).</p>Published as part of <i>Zamengo, Henrique Borges, Chamorro, Debora, Gaglioti, André Luiz & Pederneiras, Leandro Cardoso, 2023, Nomenclatural revision of the names of Celtis (Cannabaceae) described for Africa, and lectotypification of one Asian name, pp. 205-223 in Phytotaxa 603 (3)</i> on page 210, DOI: 10.11646/phytotaxa.603.3.1, <a href="http://zenodo.org/record/8166665">http://zenodo.org/record/8166665</a>

Understanding and responding to interpersonal workplace situations. Assessing emotional competence, its relationship to traits and well-being, and its training.
The study tested an emotional-intelligence (EI) ability-measure of Contextualized Emotion Understanding and Responding (CEUR), its association with personal variables, and whether CEUR can be enhanced by instruction. Within a pre-post experimental-design, participants (N = 481, 19% men) were randomly assigned to the experimental or the control group. Participants filled out several trait and well-being scales (e.g., job involvement, loneliness), and rated the adequacy of behavioral responses to CEUR scenarios. The results showed a three-factor stable structure for CEUR. At pre-test, all participants endorsed Empathic-Constructive responding (EC, women especially) more than Dismissing-Ironical options (DI) or Passive ones (PA, men especially). Similar trends characterized post-test ratings. EC was negatively associated with DI and PA. At post-test, experimental participants increased EC orientation and decreased DI and PA with respect to pre-test, whereas control participants did not change or even increased less-intelligent responding. CEUR dimensions were significantly associated with well-being (especially loneliness, negative affect, health) and with job satisfaction. The study confirmed the hypotheses that CEUR is associated with both traits and well-being, and that these EI skills can be trained
Divisibility conditions in almost Moore digraphs with selfrepeats
Moore digraph is a digraph with maximum out-degree d, diameter k and order Md, k = 1 + d + ... + dk. Moore digraphs exist only in trivial cases if d = 1 (i.e., directed cycle Ck) or k = 1 (i.e., complete symmetric digraph). Almost Moore digraphs are digraphs of order one less than Moore bound. We shall present new properties of almost Moore digraphs with selfrepeats from which we prove nonexistence of almost Moore digraphs for some k and d. © 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.C
