Noncommutative resolutions of ADE fibered Calabi-Yau threefolds
In this paper we construct noncommutative resolutions of a certain class of Calabi-Yau threefolds studied by F. Cachazo, S. Katz and C. Vafa. The threefolds under consideration are fibered over a complex plane with the fibers being deformed Kleinian singularities. The construction is in terms of a noncommutative algebra introduced by V. Ginzburg, which we call the "N=1 ADE quiver algebra"
Ross-Ade
Dave Ross (1871-1943) and George Ade (1866-1944) were trustees, distinguished alumni and benefactors of Purdue University. Their friendship began in 1922 and led to their giving land and money for the 1924 construction of Ross-Ade Stadium, now a 70,000 seat athletic landmark on the West Lafayette campus. Their life stories date to 1883 Purdue and involve their separate student experiences and eventual fame. Their lives crossed paths with U.S. First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, Henry Ford, Amelia Earhart, and Will Rogers among others. Gifts or ideas from Ross or Ade led to creation of the Purdue Research Foundation, Purdue Airport, Ross Hills Park, and Ross Engineering Camp. They helped Purdue Theater, the Harlequin Club and more. Ade, renowned author and playwright, did butt heads with Purdue administrators at times long ago, but remains a revered figure. Ross's ingenious mechanical inventions of gears still steer millions of motorized vehicles, boats, tractors, even golf carts the world over

In vitro effects of polyhalogenated hydrocarbons on liver mitochondria respiration and microsomal cytochrome P-450
The present study evidenced the critical levels of six major polyhalogenated hydrocarbons (PHH's), namely chloroform, carbon tetrachloride, 1,1,1-trichloroethane, 1,2-dibromoethane,perchloroethylene, hexachlorobutadiene, over which significant inhibitory effects of the mitochondrial respiratory chain take place in vitro. At these critical levels, even in PB-induced animals only a very little fraction of cytochrome P-450 is saturated by the compounds and therefore the microsomal metabolism plays no effective role either in decreasing the levels of the test chemicals under the threshold of clear direct adverse effects in mitochondria, nor to the formation of toxic metabolites. Our data show also that phenobarbital not only enhances both the direct and metabolism-mediated interaction of most tested PHH with microsomal cytochrome P-450, but also increases the affinity of hexachlorobutadiene, chloroform and carbon tetrachloride for the mitochondrial sites resulting in respiration inhibition
