Transcript, 68 pp.Helen Bauer studied computer science and mathematics at Purdue University, graduating in 1972 and then starting work as a Member of Technical Staff at Bell Laboratories in Naperville, Illinois. The interview describes Bell’s affirmative action committees and workshops and its corporate culture. Bauer relates her experiences moving into managerial positions beginning in 1977, finding role models in co-workers, organizing support groups for women in management, and relating anecdotes about challenges.

The court got it right, Joseph P. Bauer, a professor of law at Notre Dame Law School, told MacNewsWorld.
There\u27s no exception to price-fixing for new entrants to a market -- even in a market where the established company has 60 or 70 percent of the market, he emphasized.
In the short run, this may work out to Amazon\u27s benefit, continued Bauer. Amazon may be able to reassert its position in the market because of this ruling.
However, since Apple got into the market about three-and-a-half years ago, it has established a competitive market position, he noted.
It has benefited from its unlawful behavior over the three-and-a-half year period, Bauer said. It\u27s a strong, viable competitor in the market

From tape numbers 586 and 587 in the "Saving the Legacy" Oral History ProjectWalter Bauer (b. 1925) enlisted in the Marine Corps in April 1943. He attended boot camp in San Diego and received advanced training at Camp Elliott before being sent to Intelligence School. Shipped to Hawaii, he was redirected to the Marine Infantry. He participated in the battle for Saipan with the 6th Marines, 1st Battalion, as well as the battles on Tinian and Okinawa. Following the war, he was assigned to occupation duty in Japan. Mr. Bauer provides a description of his experiences in the military and during combat. He returned to the US in January 1946 for discharge. Mr. Bauer was a professional firefighter in civilian life. Interviewed by Winston P. Erickson. 61 pages
