The Book of Matthew
In this six page artist's book, Olson employs a method similar to the Situationist strategy of "detournement" to create an absurd text by combining the italicized words found in a chapter of the "King James Bible : Book of Matthew"
Daniel Olson : Cultural Hand-Books Series : Volume 5 - Vocabulary : A Manual of Received Wisdom from...
In the ironic preface to this small artist's book, Olson states that his convenient reference manuals are authoritative sources of information for modern individuals with the reference habit. This volume contains a twenty page list of randomly selected words taken from the World Wide Web - each word followed by its definition
Daniel Olson : Cultural Hand-Books Series : Volume 3 - Drugs : A Manual of Received Wisdom from...
In the ironic preface to this small artist's book, Olson states that his convenient reference manuals are authoritative sources of information for modern individuals with the reference habit. This volume contains a twenty-four page collection of sentence fragments and names referring to drugs, which were found on the World Wide Web
Daniel Olson : Cultural Hand-Books Series : Volume 2 - Television : A Manual of Received Wisdom from...
In the ironic preface to this small artist's book, Olson states that his convenient reference manuals are authoritative sources of information for modern individuals with the reference habit. This volume consists of a twelve page list of names (people, domestic products, television shows, corporations, etc.) taken from the World Wide Web
The Book of Daniel
In this four page artist's book, Olson employs a method similar to the Situationist strategy of "detournement" to create an absurd text which combines the italicized words found in a chapter of the "King James Bible : Book of Daniel"

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
