Thermopiezoelastic snapping of piezolaminated plates using layerwise nonlinear finite elements
The thermopiezoelastic snapping phenomena of piezolaminated plates are numerically simulated by applying a cylindrical are-length scheme to Newton-Raphson method. Based on the layer,vise displacement theory and von Karman strain-displacement relationships, nonlinear finite element formulations are derived for thermopiezoelastic composite plates. From the static and dynamic viewpoint, nonlinear thermopiezoelastic behavior and vibration characteristics are investigated for symmetric and eccentric structural models with variouspiezoelectric actuation modes, Present results show the possibility to enhance the performance of thermal structures using piezoelectric actuators and report new phenomena, namely thermopiezoelastic snapping, induced by the excessive piezoelectric actuation in the active suppression of thermally buckled large deflection of piezolaminated plates
Postbuckling and vibration characteristics of piezolaminated composite plate subject to thermo-piezoelectric loads
Postbuckling and vibration analyses considering large thermopiezoelastic deflections are performed for fully symmetric and partially eccentric piezolaminated composite plates. Non-linear finite element equations based on the layerwise displacement theory are formulated for piezolaminated plates subject to thermal piezoelectric loads. The results demonstrate a methodology for raising the thermal buckling temperature and decreasing the thermal postbuckled deflection. Vibration characteristics under complex thermopiezoelectric loads are investigated in the prebuckling and postbuckling regions. For fully distributed piezolaminates, this study shows that excessive bending moments for the suppression of thermally buckled deflection may cause another type of structural instability. In addition, the effective placement of piezoceramic patches is studied to improve suppression of thermally buckled deflection for the partially segmented piezolaminates. (C) 2000 Academic Press
Aeroelastic characteristics of cylindrical hybrid composite panels with viscoelastic damping treatments
Supersonic flutter analysis of cylindrical composite panels with structural damping treatments has been performed using the finite element method based on the zig-zag layerwise shell theory. The natural frequencies and loss factors of cylindrical viscoelastic composites are computed considering the effects of transverse shear deformation. And Kumhaar's modified piston theory is applied for the calculation of aerodynamic forces. The flutter of cylindrical composite panels is analyzed considering structural damping effect. With respect to aeroelastic stabilities, various damping characteristics of unconstrained layer, constrained layer, and symmetrically co-cured sandwich laminates are compared with those of an original base panel. Design education has significantly changed since the 1950s. The era depended widely on normative models such as those proposed by Benjamin Bloom (Bloom et al. 1956) and his collaborators, which resulted in the formulation of Bloom's Taxonomy. Comprising six interchangeable layers (knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation) of higher and lower thinking, Bloom's taxonomy sets in place an archetypal model for education that thrives on object-driven goals. Here, pedagogical interchange and the object-driven and organised structure of education can adapt to each layer within the taxonomic structure
The effect of residence time on the generation of silica nanoparticles in a trubulent diffusion flame
학위논문(석사) - 한국과학기술원 : 기계공학전공, 2007.2, [ v, 44 p. ]나노 입자란 0.1μm 이하의 사이즈에서 제조되며 기존의 분말 재료보다 입자의 크기가 현저히 감소되어 체적 특성보다는 표면 특성이 증가하게 된다. 이러한 표면 특성의 증가로 인하여 새로운 물리적, 기계적 특성이 나타나게 되며 광범위하게 응용될 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 반도체, 접지력이 향상된 타이어, 색감 및 질감이 뛰어난 도료 등에서 사용되는 실리카 나노 입자를 생성하는 연구를 수행하였다. 이러한 나노 입자를 생성하는 방법에는 여러가지가 있지만 본 연구에서는 기체상태에서 입자를 생성하는 Gas to particle conversion 방법중의 하나인 화염 반응기법을 이용하였다. 이 중 다른 방법들에 비하여 비교적 안정적이며 유량 변화에 따른 효과를 쉽게 확인할 수 있는 확산 화염에서 생산성의 증대를 위하여 난류 조건에서 실험을 수행하였다. 실리카 입자를 생성하기 위하여 전구체로 TEOS(tetra-ethyl-ortho-silicate)를 사용하였으며 연료로는 메탄, 산화제로는 일대일 비율로 혼합한 산소와 질소를 사용하였다. 화염의 형상과 길이를 얻기 위하여 OH-Chemiluminescence를 OH-Filter가 부착된 ICCD를 이용하여 측정하였으며 화염 유동장 내의 속도 분포를 측정하기 위하여 LDV(Laser Doppler Velocimetry)를 이용하였으며 입자의 형상과 크기를 측정하기 위하여 전자 투과 현미경을 이용하였다. 이로부터 난류 확산화염의 특성에 따라 생성된 입자간에 기존의 알려진 파라미터들과 난류 효과가 어떠한 상관관계를 가지는지 알아보았다. 난류의 세기가 증가할수록 체류시간은 감소하며 이에 따라 생성된 입자의 직경은 감소되며 입자의 분포도 또한 좁아지게 된다.한국과학기술원 : 기계공학전공
