Determinants of U.S. Textile and Apparel Trade
Get PDFA gravity model using panel data is applied to determine factors affecting textiles and apparel trade flows into the United States. The study confirms that a nation's aggregate output and per unit productivity serve as important determinants of textiles and apparel trade into the U.S., and the exporting country's depreciating exchange rate as well as its lower prices relative to U.S. prices for textiles and apparel play an important role in determining textiles and apparel trade flows to the U.S. market. Since the WTO's multilateral trade restraining policies of the multi-fibre arrangement (MFA) is found to have slowed down imports, its abrogation in 2005 should lead to greater textiles and apparel imports to the U.S.brand equity, brand valuation, real options, food firms, growth option value, Agribusiness, International Relations/Trade,

No full textEunice Ofori is a senior instructional designer at the Center for Engaged Learning and Teaching at Tulane University in New Orleans. She has a PhD in curriculum and instruction with an emphasis on instructional design and technology from Virginia Tech, and her career has focused on the use of instructional technology and sound pedagogy in a variety of teaching contexts. She’s also a good friend of podcast producer Julaine Fowlin, the Vanderbilt Center for Teaching’s very own assistant director for instructional design. Julaine recently interviewed Eunice about her passion for accessibility in the educational technology space. The Inhumane Treatment of People in Jail Centers: Rethinking the Duty to Protect the Health and Dignity of Prisoners in Ghana.
Get PDFWhile prisoners’ right to health care is recognized and protected under international human rights instruments and domestic constitution, it is also the case that majority of prisoners in Ghana, are subject to abusive treatment, inhuman conditions of living, and often denied basic access to medical treatment. This article argues, that read in light of international human rights instruments, WHO guidelines as well as the African Charter, the government, Judiciary and prison authorities in Ghana, owe it as an obligation to protect and respect the dignity of prisoners, including access to hygienic and humane living conditions.
