Inhibitory effects of Spirulina in zymosan-induced arthritis in mice

    No full text
The anti-inflammatory effect of microalgae Spirulina was studied in zymosan-induced arthritis in mice. Four days after the intra-articular injection of zymosan (15 mg/ml), Spirulina (100 and 400 mg/kg per-orally) was administered to animals for 8 days. The mice were than killed and β-glucuronidase was measured in the synovial fluid. Each knee joint was totally removed for histopathological studies. Spirulina significantly reduced the levels of β-glucuronidase that had been increased by zymosan. Histopathological and ultrastructural studies showed inhibition of the inflammatory reaction, whereas no destruction of cartilage, well-preserved chondrocytes, and normal rough endoplasmic reticulum and mitochondria were seen. The anti-arthritic effect exerted by Spirulina as shown in this model may be at least partly due to the previously reported anti-inflammatory and antioxidative properties of its constituent, phycocyanin. To our knowledge, this is the first report on the anti-inflammatory effect of Spirulina in an experimental model of arthritis

    No full text
This article aims to examine and discuss the challenges faced by the private basic education institutions in the Philippines as an effect of the Covid-19 pandemic. This pandemic has brought a dilemma to educational institutions especially when the government announced and ordered not to open face to face classes for Academic Year 2020 – 2021 until the Covid-19 vaccine. In response to this order, the Department of Education (DepEd) released department order nos. 007, 12, 13, and 14 series of 2020 instructing all basic education institutions to come up with their learning continuity plan (LCP) and health and safety protocols in the new normal in education during the pandemic. The bigger challenge is now passed on to the private basic education schools. Literature cited herein develop a framework as to the necessary measures every private basic education institutions must do in the re-opening of the schools. As there are limited studies written on the same nature, the author suggests a thorough study on the various facets of the online learning involving the children of the private basic education institutions

Introduction: societies across the planet undergo profound transformations and this requires new forms of education that foster the skills that societies and economies need today and tomorrow. Objective: to describe the theoretical and methodological foundations of the teaching task system with basic-clinical linkage in the teaching process of human Ontogeny. Development: a bibliographic review was carried out. The teaching task was identified, as the basic element of the teachingeducational process and the elementary link that links the activity of the teacher and that of the student, the fundamental contradiction of the pedagogical process is presented, which is established between the level of knowledge and skills of the student and the level of requirements that are posed to solve the task. In the medical career the system of teaching tasks is required to motivate the student from the first year, starting from the basicclinical linkage, which allows to exercise the operational system of skills and promote independent and team work, awaken the student learning interest by linking it with real or simulated medical practice, promoting participatory class with students active in the classroom, and inducing the search for information to find the solution to the problems posed. Conclusions: a system of teaching tasks for human Ontogeny with basic-clinical linkage will contribute to the improvement of the teaching-learning process of the subject, this allows an adequate treatment of the basic biomedical and clinical contents in the medical careerIntroducción: las sociedades de todo el planeta experimentan profundas transformaciones y ello exige nuevas formas de educación que fomenten las competencias que las sociedades y las economías necesitan hoy y mañana.

This article has as purpose to examine the way in which the right for a quality attention and education for early childhood has developed based on an analysis of the different educational and early child care policies (educación y atención de la primera infancia, eapi) in the European systems, and also how it can be monitored, particularly in the inclusion processes for children in situation of risk and social exclusion. The author concludes that the current situation for what regards to education and early child care presents distinctive features in most of the countries of the European Union, this means that they deal with the problem in very different ways and with dissimilar arguments that do not always take into account the rights of the youngest although they determine the scope of equity in the eapi's supply
