A STUDY OF FACTORS INFLUENCING INVESTMENT BEHAVIOR OF MERCHANTS IN UMFCCI (Tin Nwe Nwe Pgoo, 2019)

    No full text
This study is to identify factors influencing investment behavior of merchants in UMFCCI. There are two main objectives which are to examine the investment behavior of merchants in UMFCCI and to identify the key factors influencing investment behavior of merchants in UMFCCI. Both primary and secondary data are collected and used descriptive method to measure factors influencing investment behavior which are financial status, risk taking behavior, return from investment and information. A sample of the total 100 is representing by using random sampling method from members of UMFCCI, Yangon. According to analysis merchants are also interested in saving deposit in the bank, buying/selling gold and silver, real estate, foreign currency, stock investment, insurance and commodity. They mostly used the traditional off-line trading method and used phones for many purpose to get information and connection. They don’t use online trading websites and platform. According to the result of regression show that there is significant effects, these four factors are significantly positive related with influence the investors’ investment behavior. The study suggested that the financial institution should create the new appropriate products for merchants thereby to increase the profit of the financial institutions

In Myanmar, nurturing horticulture is indispensable in recent years due to increasing demand from local and foreign markets. This study aims to identify the current situation and constraints faced by growers in mango value chain in Kyaukse Township and to find out the preferences of local consumers on mangoes. Descriptive analysis is used based on primary data. Survey was made to observe growers’ marketing and distribution channels and consumers’ buying preference and consumption patterns. 100 growers from major mango growing area, Kyaukse Township and 200 consumers from urban downtown Townships of Mandalay City. It was found that majority of the growers facing major challenges in access to labor, modern cultivation techniques, new market, practicing good agriculture practice and getting information from foreign market. In contrast, growers have strengths of getting information from local market, access to financial capital, farm equipment, land and high-quality seeds throughout the mango value chain. From the consumers’ side, they preferred high quality mangoes from modern retail stores in the city. In addition, consumers buy mangoes through checking more on blemished and damaged conditions while some consumers started to check whether the mangoes are free from chemical fertilizers and pesticides

Feature extraction of vibration signal using OMP-NWE method

    No full text
Feature extraction is one of the core problems in condition monitoring and fault diagnosis of mechanical equipment. In this study, an OMP-NWE method of feature extraction is proposed, aiming at the problem of low accuracy of existing feature extraction method. The OMP-NWE method integrates the strengths of orthogonal matching pursuit (OMP) algorithm with the benefits of nonparametric waveform estimation (NWE). Signal feature extraction model is constructed by design of filter bank and adaptive template signal. Then the vibration signal is linearly decomposed into a set of best matching waveform, which solves the problem that the basis function must be chosen in advance in OMP algorithm. The OMP-NWE method is applied to the feature extraction of the simulation and experimental vibration signal of rolling bearing, compared with the traditional OMP algorithm. Results show that the SNR of the extracted feature signal using OMP-NWE method increased by 19.22 % compared with that using the OMP method, which illustrates that OMP-NWE method has a higher accuracy in the feature extraction of unknown complex vibration signals. This work provides a new idea and a successful example for the feature extraction of vibration signal in the condition monitoring and fault diagnosis of mechanical equipment

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    No full text
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
