„Wir sprachen babylonisch kunterbunt“: literarische Kreativität bei Ilma Rakusa
This article examines the creative use of the German language in the works of Ilma Rakusa, a writer born in Slovakia and currently living in Zurich, Switzerland. In particular, the analysis deals with the collection of poems Impressum: Langsames Licht. Gedichte (2016) and the literary creativity of the author who mixes with great skill multilingual play on words, sounds, voices and alliterations, rendered through a creative manipulation of the German language. Chinese words, Hebrew names as well as entire English and French sentences can be found in Ilma Rakusa’s poems, which lead to a rhythmic, multilingual and partly rhymed texture
Die "poetische Autobiographie" Mehr Meer von Ilma Rakusa
The goal of the following contribution is to analyse the book Mehr Meer by theSwiss author Ilma Rakusa in terms of genre designation. The fascinating text contains many autobiographical elements and references but is exquisitelyliterary formed, in style it does not differ from other texts of the author. Because Mehr Meer is written in an explicit poetic style, typical for the Swiss Author, and because the work is formed by different literary strategies, the most appropriate terms seem to be literalized or poeticized autobiograph
Present distribution of the threatened killifish Aphanius fasciatus (Actinopterygii, Cyprinodontidae) in the Maltese Islands
A survey of the nine localities from which the threatened Killifish Aphanius fasciatus has been recorded in the Maltese Islands showed that large and thriving populations exist at Salina, at the Simar and Ghadira bird sanctuaries and in reservoirs at Marsa and Ghadira. The Simar and Ghadira populations are introduced and originate from a mixture of animals collected from Salina and Marsa. The provenance of the Marsa population is unknown but it is possibly autochthonous to the Marsa area. The Salina and possibly the Marsa populations seem to be the only remaining natural populations of this species in the Maltese Islands.peer-reviewe
SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF Li4Ti5O12 WITH SOL GEL METHOD AS A LITHIUM ION-BATTERY ANODE MATERIAL
SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF Li4Ti5O12 WITH SOL GEL METHOD AS A LITHIUM ION-BATTERY ANODE MATERIAL. Synthesis of anode Li4Ti5O12 material has been carried out using the sol gel method. The synthesis is carried out with variations in sintering temperatures at 500 oC, 600 oC, 700 oC dan 800 oC. Characterization carried out includes testing thermal analysis to determine the optimum temperature for sintering, XRD (X-ray Diffraction) to find out the phase formation of Li4Ti5O12, Scanning electron microscope (SEM) to analyse the morphology formed, testing Cyclic voltammetry, charge-discharge and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) is carried out to find out the elec- trochemical performance. From the results of characterization of thermal and XRD analyses, the optimum temperature for synthesis is 800oC with small impurity content. The results of SEM characterization show that the morphology of the sample is not homogeneous, and the particles are agglomerated. The resulting electrochemical performance increases along with the increase in temperature for sintering, including voltammogram graphs, diffusion coefficient values, electrical conductivity and charge-discharge capacity. Of all the samples, the LTO sintered at 800oC shows good electrochemical performance with a sharp and good voltammogram graph, diffusion coefficient value of lithium ion is 1.58 × 10-9 cm2s-1, electrical conductivity of 0.6282 S/cm and the discharge capacity given is 78,07 mAh/g
Topical Legal Problems of Spatial Planning
Darbs identificē un risina aktuālas problēmas teritorijas plānošanas tiesiskajā regulējumā, tiesību normu piemērošanā un to jaunradē. Ņemot vērā apskatīto problēmu raksturu, darbs sadalīts četrās nodaļās. 1.nodaļā autors analizē teritorijas plānošanas jēdzienu, salīdzina citu valstu plānošanas jēdzienus, nošķir jēdzienu „telpiskā plānošana”. Darba 2.nodaļā cita starpā norādīts uz nacionālā līmeņa teritorijas plānojuma neesamības trūkumu, izvirzīti vairāki ieteikumi teritorijas plānošanas tiesību normu pilnveidei. Savukārt darba 3. un 4.nodaļā īpaša uzmanība tiek pievērsta sabiedrības līdzdalības tiesību ievērošanai, tiesībām vērsties tiesā ar vidi saistītu jautājumu risināšanā un rīcībai teritorijas plānojumu tiesiskuma uzraudzības uzlabošanai. Darba kopsavilkumā izvirzīti priekšlikumi būtiskāko teritorijas plānošanas problēmu novēršanai. The title of master’s work is “Topical legal problems of spatial planning”. Liability for Environmental Damage Caused by Maritime Accidents
Maģistra darba tēma ir “Atbildība par kuģu negadījumu rezultātā jūras videi nodarīto kaitējumu”. Autore skaidro atbildības problemātiku, skatoties no Latvijas perspektīvas, vienlaikus paturot prātā, ka lielākā daļa problēmu šajā jomā rodas atbildības par jūras videi nodarīto kaitējumu starptautiskās dabas dēļ.
The topic of Master’s thesis is “Liability for damage caused to marine environment by ship incidents”. The author seeks to explain the liability issues from Latvian perspective, while at the same time, staying aware that the most of them derive from the international nature of this kind of liability.
The author tries to find out, whether it would be necessary to expand the concept of liability at both the international and national levels. Additionally, it is examined, if some adjustments regarding national regulatory framework in order to achieve higher level of conformation with international standards should be made. Finally, the author proposes some possibilities, how such adjustments could be made.
In summary, the author proposes:
It would be necessary to reach an agreement about the extension of reimbursement at the international level. In addition, there should be made some changes in national regulations regarding some aspects of liability
Economic Feasibility of Reusing Structural Components: “How to quantitatively assess the economic feasibility of reusing structural components from existing buildings into new construction?”
The Netherlands has the vision to be completely circular by 2050 cutting its raw material consumption to half by 2030. To reduce the raw material consumption, materials in use must be reused and nothing should be wasted. However, the construction industry is far from reaching this goal. It is traditional in the EOL treatment of the building. The structure is crushed down into mixed debris and recycling is the highest level of waste management adopted in the sector. 85% of the CDW in The Netherlands is mineral waste which is crushed and typically applied as the foundation in road construction. Reuse, a higher level treatment method, is rarely adopted. Only 3%-4% of the total material demand in the industry is met with secondary materials. It is limited to the reuse of products such as doors, windows and interior installations.Existing demolition methods do not allow for product recovery as it a costlier and time- consuming process. It requires skilled labour, knowledge and collaboration amongst the stakeholders to deconstruct for reuse. The limited knowledge of the know-how of recovering structural components is found to be prevalent. Furthermore, there is no tool or framework to quantitatively assess the economic feasibility of reusing components well before demolition. The available methods for assessing reuse feasibility are found to have a futuristic approach and cannot assess the economic feasibility quantitatively. Therefore, the Feasibility Calculation Tool is developed in this research which is a practical framework capable of quantitatively assessing the reuse potential of the components. It provides clear guidance to stakeholders on how to assess if the components from existing buildings can be profitably extracted for reuse. The FCT can be successfully used to determine the economic costs and feasibility conditions quantitatively allowing for a circular EOL treatment. The reuse scenario and the tipping points for the structural floor elements can be evaluated well in advance of demolition guiding the decision of the owners to demolish or deconstruct for reuse. A well-planned deconstruction can further help find buyers in time and deconstruct with higher precision as per the requirements of the buyers increasing the salvage cost and the need to modify components after deconstruction. The results of FCT show that it is most feasible and economic to reuse components directly on the same site (Reuse Scenario 1) then to transport them to another site for reuse(Reuse Senario 2). However, for the existing building stock, it is more probable to reuse under Reuse Scenario 3 than 2 and 1 as theexisting stock is not designed to be reused. Instead, a buyer should be found who has no or minimum modification requirements. Furthermore, taking the environmental impact of reusing secondary components into account improves the reuse feasibility. The reuse cases which are otherwise not economically feasible turn feasible once the environmental impact costs are considered, in other words, once the polluter is made to pay the price. Furthermore, planning for the EOL of the building should be done well in advanceto allow for sufficient time and efficient recovery. The owner should be motivated for deconstructing circularly, allow sufficient time and if he fails to reuse materials himself, he should allow for collection and sale of secondary products by the demolition companies to a third party. The demolition contractors, on the other hand, are found to depend on the question from the owner to reuse. However, they must make voluntary calls for deconstruction.Civil Engineering | Building Engineerin
Framework for Reuse of Secondary Products in New Constructions
Reuse of building material is an integral part of making the product circular. However, there is lack of working frameworks and practical tools which can quantify the feasibility of reuse over other choices such as virgin material use or recycling for that matter. Therefore, this research focuses on the development of such a working framework which can guide and assess the feasibility of reuse in new building construction. The tool is so developed that it guides from the very basic step of material selection to its assessment to the quantification of economic as well as environmental benefits of reuse. A case study is used to verify the application of the model. The results show how reuse is possible in the case of open loop recycling and not in the case of close loop recycling indication recycling to be a preferred option in the latter case. Barriers such as lack of information of the product life cycle (use) is found to limit the reuse possibilities. Lastly the intangible aspects of reuse such as aesthetic and emotional value addition are also discussed, and its impact is visible in the case study.CIE 5050-0
Right of Pre-emption
The title of this master’s thesis is the “Redemption rights”. The redemption rights is the German legal institution which was established during the middle ages though has become obsolete nowadays. The institution of the redemption rights has not earned any profound examination in the legal literature of the Latvian state. In this master’s thesis the author has established that in most cases the redemption rights are the tool to implement the pre – emptive rights violated. Therefore, in order to establish the violation of the pre – emptive rights or to determine whether a person in a certain case had any pre – emptive rights at all, the author within the framework of this thesis has also explored the essence of the pre – emptive rights and the related legal issues. The author has also looked into the cases when the redemption rights may exist separately from the pre – emptive rights, and the pre – emptive rights apart from the redemption rights.
Within the framework of the master’s thesis the author has also examined the problematic issues with the redemption rights. For this reason the author has used not only the commentaries to the Civil Law published by the modern legal scientists, but also the legal literature published prior to the year 1941 as well as the descriptive, motivational and resolution parts of the verdicts by the Senate of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Latvia, the Boards of the courts of the civil cases of the court chambers of the civil cases and the regional courts of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Latvia. As the main problematic issues the author has explored the civil and procedural character of the implementation of the redemption rights (the redemption of the real estate under the special litigation procedure and the claim procedure of the Law on the Civil Procedure); the author has also set aside the cases when the announcement of the redemption rights may occur under the special procedure or the claim procedure); the author has also explored the nuances for the determination of the competency, the understanding of the limitation for the redemption rights and inaccurate interpretation of the redemption rights in the jurisprudence, the separation of the redemption claim from the property claim as well as the nuances of the use of the redemption rights and the model for the actions by the redeemer in a case of the alienation of the real estate after the announcement of the redemption rights
