    ADAN: Toward Structural Conditions for Machine Consciousness

    ADAN (Autonomous Dynamically Adaptive Network) is a continuous-time dynamical architecture that formally implements the structural conditions theorized by leading neuroscientific and philosophical frameworks — Integrated Information Theory (IIT), Global Workspace Theory (GWT), the Free Energy Principle (FEP), and enactivist autopoiesis — as necessary prerequisites for machine consciousness. The architecture implements seven structural conditions: global integration via a recurrent dynamical workspace, homeostatic viability regulation via Control Barrier Functions (CBF) and Control Lyapunov Functions (CLF), a tractable integration proxy derived from the Jacobian Frobenius norm, an explicit metabolic energy budget, viability-gated Hebbian plasticity, criticality regulation targeting the edge-of-chaos regime, and a monotonic entropic temporal arrow coupled to causal identity continuity. No claim of phenomenal consciousness is made. ADAN constitutes a falsifiable, implementable structural substrate from which such questions may be empirically investigated. Focused clinical evaluation and laboratory tests can rule out or identify hepatic complications early on. Here we report on a 9-year-old boy treated by the Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition Unit of Al-Adan Hospital’s Pediatric Department. The patient, who was infected with H1N1 during the 2010 pandemic, showed symptoms of associated acute hepatic failure, was managed conservatively, and recovered completely following treatment.     The Idarah masjid is an activity to develop and organise cooperation from many people to achieve a certain goal. It is more focused on planning, organising, administering, financing and monitoring. In terms of accountability and transparency in the management of development funds, Idarat Al-Masjid is needed, both in fund reports and in the management of other activities. The Baitul Akbar Adan Mosque has never been renovated, because construction is still continuing with funds that have been collected. The questions in this research are how to apply the principle of transparency in managing funds at the Baitul Akbar Adan Mosque, what is the accountability of BKM management in the realisation of funds for the construction of the Baitul Akbar Adan Mosque, and how to manage funds using the principles of accountability and transparency for the construction of the Baitul Akbar Adan Mosque based on the perspective of Idarat Al-Masjid. In this research the author uses a sociological juridical research method, with qualitative research type and data collection techniques using interviews and documentation. The results of the research show that the BKM\u27s efforts in terms of transparency are at least adequate, with efforts to announce outgoing and incoming funds every Friday, this is also a form of accountability that is held accountable in annual discussions by the BKM regarding the funds collected, therefore it is hoped that this can foster trust. However, monthly bookkeeping and reporting cannot be said to be adequate or effective. In this case it can be concluded that, Accountability and transparency of fund management based on the Idarat al-Masjid perspective has been implemented in the management of Baitul Akbar Adan Mosque funds, both from the beginning in planning to supervision, but there are still many things that are lacking in terms of administration, in the field of written reporting and bookkeeping of funds every month

    Model improvements to simulate charging in SEM

    Charging of insulators is a complex phenomenon to simulate since the accuracy of the simulations is very sensitive to the interaction of electrons with matter and electric fields. In this study, we report model improvements for a previously developed Monte-Carlo simulator to more accurately simulate samples that charge. The improvements include both modelling of low energy electron scattering and charging of insulators. The new first-principle scattering models provide a more realistic charge distribution cloud in the material, and a better match between non-charging simulations and experimental results. Improvements on charging models mainly focus on redistribution of the charge carriers in the material with an induced conductivity (EBIC) and a breakdown model, leading to a smoother distribution of the charges.     Surface effects in simulations of scanning electron microscopy images

    We have investigated the contributions of surface effects to Monte Carlo simulations of top-down scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images. The elastic and inelastic scattering mechanisms in typical simulations assume that the electron is deep in the bulk of the material. In this work, we correct the inelastic model for surface effects. We use a model for infinite flat surfaces, and apply it to non-flat, but smooth, geometries. Though this is a simplification, it captures most qualitative differences to the bulk model, including coupling to surface plasmons. We find that this correction leads to an increased SE signal near a feature's sidewall in low-voltage critical dimension SEM (CD-SEM). The effect is strongest for low beam energies. Due to some of the assumptions in our model, we are unable to quantitatively predict the extent by which the signal from the sidewall is enhanced.     Early material here includes a notice of the edition and its limitations, a frontispiece portrait of Florian, a note from the editors, a preface, and an introduction to the fable genre. That makes up 59 pages before we arrive at Adan's La Fable et la Verité -- perhaps the most important illustration in the book -- and the texts of the twenty fables in Florian's first book with its twenty-one fables. Adan's L'Enfant et le Miroir starts the second book and its nineteen fables. Each of Adan's illustrations is nicely protected by a slipsheet. Adan's Le Roi Alphonse leads off the third book and its twenty fables, to be followed by Adan's L'Avare et son Fils and the fourth book. The fourth book likewise contains twenty fables. The fifth book begins with Adan's Le Charlatan and contains twenty fables. The appendix is highlighted by Adan's L'Enfant et le Dattier. It contains twelve fables. Following the appendix are notes, an AI, and a T of C. 4¾ x 7.     Understanding the influence of 3D sidewall roughness on observed line-edge roughness in scanning electron microscopy images

    Line-edge roughness (LER) is often measured from top-down critical dimension scanning electron microscope (CD-SEM) images. The true three-dimensional roughness profile of the sidewall is typically ignored in such analyses. We study the response of a CD-SEM to sidewall roughness (SWR) by simulation. We generate random rough lines and spaces, where the SWR is modelled by a known power spectral density. We then obtain corresponding CD-SEM images using a Monte Carlo electron scattering simulator. We find the measured LER from these images, and compare it to the known input roughness. We find that, for isolated lines, the SEM measures the outermost extrusion of the rough sidewall. The result is that the measured LER is up to a factor 2 less than the true on-wafer roughness. The effect can be accurately modelled by making a top-down projection of the rough edge. Our model for isolated lines works fairly well for a dense grating of lines and spaces, as long as the trench width exceeds the line height.ImPhys/Microscopy Instrumentation & Technique

    Wavelength influence on the determination of subwavelength grating parameters by using optical scatterometry

    As the semiconductor industry rapidly approaches the 3nm lithography node, on product overlay (OPO) requirements have become tighter and as a result, residuals magnitude requirements have become even more challenging. Metrology performance enhancements are required to meet these demands. Color Per Layer (CPL) is a unique imaging overlay metrology approach that enables the measurement of each layer with individually-optimized wavelength and focus position. CPL allows the user to custom-define the most suitable conditions per layer, thereby ensuring optimal performance. Imaging-based overlay (IBO) utilizes CPL in order to overcome inaccuracies due to interactions between bottom and top layers. These layers are fundamentally different in that the top grating is usually the photoresist layer, but the bottom grating can be any process layer. Therefore, optimizing the conditions for each layer will maximize measurement accuracy. KLA's Archer™ 700 metrology tool addresses these metrology challenges by putting CPL to use, where the Wave Tuner (WT) allows the user to select a specific wavelength. This paper presents this novel CPL approach and discusses its reduction in OPO and contrast, and reviews use cases from DRAM and 3D NAND.     A Necessary Haunting

    Notice: In light of unforeseen circumstances concerning the COVID-19 pandemic, certain elements of the paper regarding audience interaction are no longer possible yet are still integral to the messages and ideas of the overall project A Necessary Haunting is a multimedia installation showing the cultural effects of a legend based, it is to be presumed, in the Maryland town of Loketon. A short narrative film titled ?Loketon Station? dramatizes events described, presumably, by Remy Lazarus in his anthology novel A Haunting in Loketon, which details the reality-shifting forces of a supernatural zone. The effects this legend has on a town across time are shown through ? again, presumably ? a historical society'stravel video and sculptural elements intended to bring the audience into the fiction. All elements described as ?presumed? so far are fictional. I am the sole creator of all content in this written theses and exhibition. I am assuming the roles of author Remy Lazarus, filmmaker Adan Rodriguez (a fictionalized version of myself), as well as the Loketon Tourism Office. In this document, structured as a book, I have included a manuscript written by Lazarus describing his process, my own analysis of his writing, insight into the creation of the short film, and the perspective of the tourism office displaying these various elements. An appendix includes a script of the film along with images to give further detail of the process (storyboards, location photos, research images, etc.). In my metatextual writing and installation, I blur the line between fact and fiction. On the one hand, I uncover the deeper meanings of the events that presumably took place in the Maryland town through the study of symbol and technique. On the other hand, I point to media'sability to influence society and provide evidence for the unreal
