A Study of Behaviors of Notebook Computer Using of Undergraduate Students at Suan Dusit Rajabhat University
The purposes of this term paper were 1) to study notebook computer using behaviors of undergraduate students at Suan Dusit Rajabhat University and 2) to compare notebook computer using behaviors among different faculties and years of study. The population used in this study consisted of 5,415 undergraduate students who studied in 3rd and 4th year, first semester, 2010 at Suan Dusit Rajabhat University. The samples of this research were 372 students. Data-gathering instruments were check list, rating scale and open ended questionnaires which its a reliability coefficient was 0.85. The R software was applied to analyze the percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test and one-way ANOVA. The results of this study were as follows: Most of students used notebook computer in learning, communication and entertainment. In the learning aspect, most of students used notebook computer for searching from internet such as Google and Yahoo. In the communication aspect, most of students used notebook computer to communicate with parents, teachers, and friends by internet such as e-mail and Suan Dusit Rajabhat UniversityâÂÂs website. In the entertainment aspect, most of students used notebook computer to chat such as MSN and Skype. For comparing behaviors of notebook computer using of students of different faculties and years were as follows: there were statistically significant difference among different faculties at 0.05 levels whereas behaviors of notebook computer using of students different years were not significant
Reduced inclination of cervical spine in a novel notebook screen system : implications for rehabilitation
Background: Professional working at computer notebooks is associated with high requirements on the body posture in the seated position. By the high continuous static muscle stress resulting from this position at notebooks, professionals frequently working at notebooks for long hours are exposed to an increased risk of musculoskeletal complaints. Especially in subjects with back pain, new notebooks should be evaluated with a focus on rehabilitative issues.
Methods: In a field study a new notebook design with adjustable screen was analyzed and compared to standard notebook position.
Results: There are highly significant differences in the visual axis of individuals who are seated in the novel notebook position in comparison to the standard position. Also, differences are present between further alternative notebook positions. Testing of gender and glasses did not reveal influences.
Conclusion: This study demonstrates that notebooks with adjustable screen may be used to improve the posture. Future studies may focus on patients with musculoskeletal diseases
EEN: A Pen-Based Electronic Notebook for Non-Intrusive Acquisition of Engineering Knowledge
Capturing design information and decisions is critical to supporting the re-use of designs and coordination in engineering teams. Most of this information is currently not recorded at all. In this paper, we focus on the role of electronic engineering notebooks in the capture, storage and dissemination of design information and decisions, and on their role in integrating and managing design decisions and processes. We propose EEN (Electronic Engineering Notebook) as a tool for assisting engineers in information-related tasks, and ultimately leading to the replacement of traditional paper engineering notebooks. Categorization is Difficult: Use of an Electronic Notebook for Organizing Design Meeting Notes
The electronic engineering notebook is a pen-based computer tool designed to capture engineering notes and to assist in structuring them to facilitate subsequent information access. Experiments were conducted in which free-form and fixed-form note-taking interfaces were compared with respect to capturing and structuring notes from a design meeting. Suitability of domain-based and user-defined terminologies for semantic structuring was also tested. Results from the experiment confirmed that a free-form interface was easier to use for note-taking and structuring notes than were forms with fixed structure. However, difficulties with applying semantic categorizations were observed in both types of interface. The results indicated that terminology should be chosen appropriately to a task, and that experienced users have less problems with applying it. The experiment also demonstrated high diversity in note-taking styles, thus highlighting the need to accommodate individual preferences in electronic notebooks

The Climate Notebook is based on Jupyter an open-source web application that allows you to create and share documents that contain live code, equations, visualizations and narrative text. Uses include: data cleaning and transformation, numerical simulation, statistical modeling, data visualization, machine learning, and much more.
Galaxy offers you to use Jupyter Notebooks directly in Galaxy accessing and interacting with Galaxy datasets as you like. A very common use-case is to do the heavy lifting and data reduction steps in Galaxy and the plotting and more interactive part on smaller datasets in Jupyter.
You can start with a new Jupyter notebook from scratch or load an already existing one, e.g. from your collegue and execute it on your dataset. If you have a defined input dataset you can even execute a Jupyter notebook in a workflow, given that the notebook is writing the output back to the history.
You can import data into the notebook via a predefined get() function and write results back to Galaxy with a put() function.
