Vol 5 No 1ABSTRACT The research about catechin purification from gambier was purposed to find its solubility properties in various solvent such as in cold water, hot water, hexane, ethyl acetate, and methanol. By knowing its solubility properties, the easiest way to purify the catechin could be gotten which is yielding about 7.33%. Further, the molecular structure has been gotten by determining its melting point and using spectrophotometric measurements such as UV, IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR. Based on those measurements, d-cathecin structure with a melting point of 175 - 177 ºC was founded. The expected benefit from this research is it could be benefiting the development of gambier purification industry in order to enhancing added value of West Sumatera’s commodities. It would make Western Sumatera gaining stronger bargaining position due to the capability on selling not only on the crude form to abroad. The result of this research has indicated that catechin purification can be performed using an organic solvent and water. Keywords: Purification, catechin, gambier</jats:p

Tubuh sebagai Manifesto: Pandangan Politik Sally Rooney dalam Normal People
This research explores the role of the body in the Irish literary work, Normal People. Written by renowned Irish author Sally Rooney, the novel narrates how contemporary Irish society experiences shifts in its social structure. It delves into the lives of young Irish characters as they navigate social and political upheaval in relation to the Western culture that serves as their cultural axis. This culture is, in part, represented through the colonized form of the body. Rooney elevates this concept to emphasize her political stance that the body has become a manifesto in the ideological struggle against the encroaching Western influences. By employing Lucien Goldmann’s theoretical framework, this article demonstrates the intersection of the body and alcohol, connecting the historical memory of the Republic of Ireland with Northern Ireland. Moreover, the article contends that the United States of America has colonized the bodies of the Republic of Ireland’s society through the consumer patterns of popular culture introduced in television advertisements. Keywords – Alcohol, Colonization, Political Beliefs, Popular Culture, Television Commercials

ABSTRACT
Identification of secondary metabolite compounds, antioxidant activity test and total phenolic content of leaf extract of jengkol parasite (Scurrula ferruginea (Jack) Danser) have been done. Leaf extraction of parasite is done by maceration. Secondary metabolites contained in jengkol leaves are alkaloids, phenolic, and steroids. This study aims to determine the total phenolic content and antioxidant activity in the leaf extract of leaf parasite jengkol. Methanol, ethyl acetat, and hexane solvent are used to extract chemical compounds by maceration method. Determination of total phenolic content by Folin-Ciocalteau method and antioxidant activity by DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-pycrilhydrazil) method. Research result showed that the highest total phenolic content was found in the methanol extract (1,05 mg GAE/10 mg dry extract). Antioxidant activity third extract methanol with IC50 value (141,7723 mg/L) classified as medium antioxidant, while extracts of ethyl acetat (295,3028 mg/L) and extracts of hexane (358,0365 mg/L) classified as weak antioxidant.
