Get PDFThis research was conducted to prove the extent to which information technology can assist to change minds and behavior of children to be healthier. The research was conducted using the persuasive technology design where an example of persuasion game was developed using persuasion technology techniques and guidelines. As we know, children find it difficult to eat vegetables because of the vegetable taste itself, the way how the vegetables menu is presented to attract children and the way of life of the people around that influence children's to eat vegetables. Vegetables were selected as the main object in this game because vegetables have a lot of nutrients needed for the growth of a healthy child. Vegetables can supply nutrients to their bodies and become shields for the body from getting diseases as a result of poor diet. The strength of this game is that it encourages children to like to eat vegetables after playing this game. This game was created so that children can learn and adapt good values into the realm of reality. The development of this persuasive prototype game used SDLC flow, starting with planning, analysis, design, and implementation and testing. Participants involved in the research consist of the main players, namely children, parents, a caretaker and nutrition experts. They have provided very useful information to develop the persuasive prototype game

UHI is a phenomenon that the temperatures of the urban area are hotter than the surrounding area. The aim for this study is to analysis the relationship between population, land use change and temperature to the urban heat in Penang Island. The objective of this study are to determine the place with the high temperature in Penang Island, to determine the relationship land use change and temperature to the urban heat island (UHI) in Penang Island and to assess the influence population and land surface temperature to the urban heat island (UHI) in Penang Island. This study will have used the Erdas 2014 software and ArcGIS 10.4 software to process the data. Landsat 5 TM and Landsat 7 ETM+ on year 1999 and 2016. This study also will use the population data, that data are from department of statistic. The supervise classification method will be used to detect the land use changes. The land surface temperature (LST) will calculate in this study
To improve stemming algorithm on Malay words begin with alphabet B / Norasiah Ismail
Get PDFThis thesis concerns a Malay language document retrieval system. Stemming algorithm, Malay Quran translated documents and root dictionaries are used in order to complete this study. The performance on words beginning with letter 'b' of Malay stemming algorithm are tested using 5 experiments. First experiment is use the original set of data collections. In second experiment, affixes rule are added in rule format in file "rule.txt". Third experiments are modifying the total value for V dictionary in header file "dcvarnew.h". For fourth experiment, a new word is adding in the dictionary and modifies Malay Quran translated. In fifth experiment, the total value for 'a' dictionary in header file "dcvarnew.h" is modifying. The main objective of these experiments is to minimize the unstemming, understemming, overstemming, spelling exception and other problems that occurred when 'b' words are stemmed. The objective is achieved when the best order of the rules to use to stem the words that beginning with 'b' is met. This involves the use of two combinations simultaneously such as the pair combination of prefix-suffix-prefix suffix-infix as primary combinations and prefix suffix-suffix-prefix-infix as the secondary. First, all the words used the prefix-suffix-prefix suffix-infix combination, and if the program encountered that the words can not be solved correctly, combination will be shifted to the secondary combination that is prefix suffix-suffix-prefix-infix combination. These experiments can serves as a benchmark for future research in Malay language in finding the best approach to stem words that begin with other rest of alphabets

Get PDFKajian ini mengemukakan sebuah analisis yang melibatkan bidang leksikologi yang berkaitan dengan penggunaan peribahasa dalam sebuah mu‘jam Arab yang popular digunakan oleh para pencinta bahasa Arab amnya dan para pelajar bahasa Arab di Malaysia khususnya.
Analisis yang dilakukan adalah berdasarkan bab 1 dan bab 2, yang terdapat dalam bahagian pertama al-Mu‘jam al-Wasi:ṭ; karangan Dr. Ibra:him Anis, Dr. ‘Abdul Ḥalim Muntaṣer Aṭiyyah al-Ṣowa:liḥiy dan Muḥammad Kholafullah Aḥmad. Penggunaan peribahasa dalam mu‘jam adalah untuk menerangkan lagi makna sesuatu perkataan dengan lebih jelas dan menarik.
Analisis ini bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti sejauh mana faktor peribahasa memainkan peranan yang penting dalam menyampaikan maksud sesuatu kata dalam menginterpretasikan makna item leksikal yang terdapat dalam al-Mu‘jam al-Wasi:ṭ.
Analisis kualitatif digunakan bagi mengenal pasti item leksikal yang mempunyai peribahasa berdasarkan kajian makna yang dilakukan terhadap peribahasa dari segi mana denotasi dan konotasi serta kajian terhadap penggunaannya mengikut konteks masyarakat dan budaya Arab.
Kesimpulannya, kajian ini menunjukkan kepentingan penggunaan peribahasa dalam menerangkan makna item-item leksikal dalam mu‘jam yang dapat mendedahkan kepada kita tentang keindahan kesenian dan budaya sesuatu bangsa khususnya bangsa Arab yang mana ianya akan menarik minat kepada pengguna-pengguna kamus dan juga pencinta bahasa Arab
Digital libraries in Malaysia: problems faced and factors for future growth/ Norasiah Harun
Get PDFThe article is based on the doctoral research findings from both the questionnaire (223 respondents) and interview sessions with 36 libraries (9 academic, 21 special and 6-state/public libraries). It was found that Malaysian libraries were facing various kinds of problems. Top in the list was the lack of Information Technology (IT) personnel; followed by the lack of budget, lack of digital library initiatives (DL/s) and /CT training, renewal of online subscriptions, lack of and under utilization of digital resources, and lack of suitable integrated library system. Digital library related problems were lack of staff (professional, support and IT), absence of a blueprint and National Information Infrastructure (NII) policy, digital project was too expensive which could be due to budget constrain, lack of role model and problems related to Copyright Act clearance. As the outcome of the findings, a total of eleven factors for future growth have been proposed
