Prospective Life Cycle Assessment of High-Temperature Superconductors for Future Grid Applications

    No full text
High-temperature superconductors have distinct advantages compared to conventional conductors. Below their critical temperature, superconductors have immeasurably low ohmic losses. To maintain the superconducting state, superconductors require constant cooling. This study aims at identifying the environmental impacts of the application of superconductors in future grid technologies such as superconducting power cables

Development of an Air Coil Superconducting Fault Current Limiter

    No full text
Electrical power grids are the lifeline of technical infrastructure and fundamental for industry and modern lives. Fault Currents can disrupt the continuous supply of electrical energy, cause instable grid conditions and damage electrical equipment. The Air Coil Superconducting Fault Current Limiter (AC-SFCL) is a measure to effectively limit fault currents. The concept is investigated and proven experimentally by designing, building and successfully testing a 60 kV, 400 V, z = 6% demonstrator

System-Level Modeling of the Powertrain for an Electric Aircraft with Superconducting Components

    No full text
A fuel cell-based electric aircraft is considered a long-term solution for medium range flights to reduce aviation Carbon footprint. Equipping its powertrain with superconductivity reduces the weight and spance and increases efficiency. Such a powertrain includes components, such as superconducting fault current limiter, DC/AC cables and motor, and DC/AC inverter. This work presents the approach to model such a powertrain in MATLAB/SIMULINK for simulation in various flight scenarios

Development of a Superconducting Inverter Based on Magnetic Field Triggered Dynamic Resistance

    No full text
This work presents a novel use of high-temperature superconductors (HTS) as switches in a fully superconducting H-bridge inverter. Using dynamic resistance under alternating magnetic fields, the switches enable lossless on-state conduction and resistive off-state behavior. Experimental validation, modeling, and a new rDUDA magnetization method support stable dc-ac conversion. The concept is proven at TRL 3-4, with pathways for scaling and practical application

Untersuchung von Wechselstromverlusten verschiedener hochtemperatursupraleitender Mehrleiterkonzepte für dreiphasige Hochstromanwendungen

Given the energy transition in Germany, network operators face the challenge of providing reliable energy transmission. The use of superconducting cables represents an alternative for conventional medium- and high-voltage technology. Therefore, this work investigates various high-temperature superconducting multi-conductor concepts for a three-phase medium-voltage cable, aiming to achieve a compact cable design with low electrical losses

    Paul Bourget, écrivain engagé

Paul Bourget, A committed writer, Yehoshua Mathias. In the France of the early twentieth century, Paul Bourget's figure is that of a successful novelist who became gradually a «committed author». A monarchist, deeply conservative, passionate defender of religion and the family as the vital bases of the social order, he thus became the bard of the bourgeois ethic faced with the destabilization of modernity.Mathias Yehoshua. Paul Bourget, écrivain engagé. In: Vingtième Siècle, revue d'histoire, n°45, janvier-mars 1995. pp. 14-29

„Nature must be felt“ – Alexander von Humboldt, pioneer of an ecological worldview and protagonist of „transversal reason“

    No full text
The text commemorates the 250th year of birth of Alexander von Humboldt, a thought leader for an ecological view of the world and an early protagonist of „transversal reason“. He is an indispensable source of ideas for the „new nature therapies“, for integrative therapy and for an ecological viewpoint in psychotherapy. Some important aspects of his thinking and work are shown from this perspective. He is a reference author for transversal and integrative conceptualization in our time.https://www.fpi-publikation.de/gruene-texte/17-2019-petzold-h-g-mathias-wiedemann-u-natur-muss-gefuehlt-werden-alexander-v-humboldt/peerReviewedpublishedVersio
