The objective of this work is to conjugate the assumptions of the theory of complex systems with the empirical analysis conducted on banks and SMEs in the District of Nocera Inferiore - Gragnano. In this perspective, the work provides a key to understanding the relationships between firms and financial intermediaries in the area concerned, as well as reflections on the prudential supervision framework (Basel 2)

Tra pubblico e privato. Letteratura sulla migrazione e crisi del canone letterario

    No full text
This article explores the interconnections between biographical experience and writ- ing in Turkish contemporary literature. It focuses on migration as literary topic for authors who experienced migration also in their own life. By investigating the conti- nuity between the literature on migration and the village literature (köy edebiyati) on one side, and with the journalistic activity of the same authors on the other side, it analyses the question of the literary canon in Turkish literature, and of its de nition both in the broader context of global literature and, at the national level, in relation with the debate on social memory, literature and national narratives

The effectiveness of strategies to reduce external costs from commuting in central Europe

    No full text
Transportation is a major source of both primary pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, and has been hence frequently the object of past analyses at several levels. This paper examines the outcomes of numerous previous strategies that dealt with one or more of the multiple dimensions of commuting (green technologies, transport management, urban planning and behavior changes etc.) to check their results, and to introduce the first outcomes of the European project SMART-COMMUTING. The core of the paper is the accurate description of such strategies, including the estimation of the emission ranges under different modal scenarios in the different locations. The discussion regards on the other hand their efficiency to reduce the external costs of commuting, with the aim of offering transport planners, stakeholders and policy makers a way of substantiating their future strategies about commutin

Some Considerations on the Role of Universities and Research Centers in EU-Funded Sustainable Mobility Projects

    No full text
Stakeholder involvement is now part of formal requirements of almost any transportation decision-making process in Europe, increasing the complexity while allowing for better, shared decisions. European institutions strongly promote participatory processes and have developed a regulatory framework as well as guidelines and tools for successful and effective public engagement in transport planning. In this context, a variety of EU funded projects have been set up where territorial partners cooperate with universities and research centers in developing a sustainable mobility project and related public engagement strategies. This paper digs into the history and the current state of stakeholder involvement in transport projects, discussing through a broad literature analysis the theoretical evolution of the concept, controversies, drivers for phases and tools for effective engagement practices. Through the examples of the experience within European projects SMILE and SMART COMMUTING, this paper explores the role that academic institutions can play in engagement processes and possible contributions in terms of technical expertise and know-how transfer. Intermediate results from the projects’ engagement efforts seem to validate the European Commission’s belief that planned, continuous, open and interactive involvement of Universities may bring to better, shared and desirable decisions, consistently with findings from recent literature

Is ‘error proneness’ specific to errors? Predictive validity of the cognitive failures questionnaire

    No full text
Over two decades ago, the Cognitive Failures Questionnaire (CFQ) was introduced as a tool for obtaining information concerning the frequency of everyday errors. Since then errors have been related to the construct of error proneness, which is supposed to be a steady trait in any individual. The CFQ has been adapted for populations other than English speakers and used in a great variety of experimental and applied settings. The aim of this paper is twofold: 1) to further address the factorial structure of the CFQ, and 2) to verify the predictive validity of the error proneness construct in a simulated driving task. Results of the first study showed that seven factors might underlie the CFQ structure: Action monitoring and control, Memory for names, Decision, Mind-wandering, Over-reliance on memory, Blunders, Absent-mindedness. However, we show that the CFQ total score may be preferred. Furthermore, the experimental study here reported showed that the CFQ total score is a weak predictor of driving performance and only predicts the time spent out-of-path, suggesting that error proneness, as measured by this questionnaire, is mainly linked to constructs such as absent mindedness or distractibility rather than a dispositional tendency to make errors
