Semi-arid mallee (Eucalyptus spp.) community on "Tarawi" Station, via Wentworth, New South Wales. The understorey is dominated primarily by hummocks of the highly inflammable porcupine grass (Triodia scariosa) growing in the open areas between the mallee shrubs [picture] /

Abundant litter fuel, both on the ground beneath a pointed mallee (Eucalyptus socialis) and also as aerial fuel in the form of ribbons of bark hanging from trunks and branches.
