An Analysis of Allocative Efficiency of Wheat Growers in Northern Pakistan
Get PDFRestricted translog production model is used to estimate the allocative efficiency of wheat growers in Peshawar Valley. It is found that average allocative efficiency is 72 percent. To increase the allocative efficiency, farmers need to increase the use of nitrogen and phosphorous and decrease the use of tillage and irrigation.

A case study of client driven early BIM collaboration
No full textThis paper presents a case study of client-driven early BIM collaboration, where the client mandated the BIM and employed an independent BIM consultant to ensure successful implementation of BIM throughout all project stages. The case study demonstrates the idea of achieving maximum benefits of BIM by initiating a coordinated modelling process, in early project stages, using a partnering approach in a traditional procurement process. This approach also encouraged early involvement of the contractor in the design process and ensured interoperable modelling & collaboration process in a structured common data environment that continued throughout the project stages supporting several BIM applications. The author was part of the client�s BIM consultancy team that was tasked to ensure that an integrated and coordinated BIM process is successfully developed at the early design stage that would continue throughout the construction and facility management stages.</p

Physical Properties Characterization of Biomass Fuel Briquette Made from Oil Palm Mill Residues
Get PDFMalaysia has involved in palm oil industry over the last four decades and since then it has been generating vast quantities of palm biomass, mainly from milling and crushing palm kernel. Through concerted research and development efforts by many research organizations including Malaysian Oil Palm Board, this co–products from palm oil industry has been found to be a good resource for many applications.
The products generated from palm oil mill are crude palm oil and kernels, as primary product and biomass as a secondary product. A typical mill has many operating units. This comprises of sterilization, stripping, digestion and pressing, clarification, purification, drying and storage. The palm oil industry generates vast amounts of palm biomass. Converting palm biomass into a solid fuel through briquetting process should be attractive in upgrading its properties and adding value to the loosely-bounded biomass. The major byproducts produced in the production of crude palm oil are palm oil mill effluent, empty fruit branch (EFB), palm kernel shell and mesocarp fiber. Mostly, the biomass, like empty fruit bunch, palm kernel shell and mesocarp fiber are utilized as fuel in the mill in the loose form with high moisture content.
Realizing the potential of palm oil waste especially palm kernel shell and palm fiber to generate fuel, briquettes will produced by mixing the palm kernel shell and palm fiber with EFB, palm frond, saw dust and sugar cane waste. Their physical properties, mechanical strength will be analysed. In this research, the author will study the physical characteristics of these biomasses product in improving the handling and transportation method of this type of biomass fuel product

It analyzes the motifs and a technique employed by Hamid, and discusses how they contribute to the overall themes of displacement, migration, and identity in the novel. The study also examines how Hamid uses surrealist imagery, dream-like sequences, and unconventional perspectives to depict the characters' experiences of dislocation and otherness. The knowledge of the elements of surrealism will add depth and nuance to the novel's exploration of complex and timely issues. Using a close reading approach to the selected passages, the paper evaluates the ways in which the author employs surrealist techniques to challenge conventional notions of time, space, and reality, and to convey the experiences of displacement, migration, and the erosion of identity. This is done by studying the legal basis of human rights, the process of proliferation of human rights discourse, and the actual controversies of human rights enforcement. The study has the effect of highlighting some of the immense deficits in ensuring that violations are treated under judicial procedure and the protection of human rights is available and accessible for victims. The author inevitably came into a conclusion that the openness of legal and political arenas for human rights discourses is not followed with a tangible impact on the entitlement positions of the people.
