    The use of machine learning to identify the correctness of HS Code for the customs import declarations

    As an increasing volume of international trade activities around the world, the amount of cross-boarder import declarations grows rapidly, resulting in an unprecedented scale of potentially fraudulent transactions, in particular false commodity code (e.g., HS Code). The incorrect HS Code will cause duty risk and adversely impact the revenue collection. Physical investigation by the customs administrations is impractical due to the substantial quantity of declarations. This paper provides an automatic approach by harnessing the power of machine learning techniques to relief the burden of customs targeting officers. We introduced a novel model based on the off-the-shelf embedding encoder to identify the correctness of HS Code without any human effort. Determining whether the HS Code is correctly matched with commodity description is a classification task, so the labelled data is typically required. However, the lack of gold standard labelled data sets in customs domain limits the development of supervised-based approach. Our model is developed by the unsupervised mechanism and trained on the unlabelled historical declaration records, which is robust and able to be smoothly adapted by the different customs administrations. Rather than typically classifying whether the HS Code is correct or not, our model predicts the score to indicate the degree of the HS Code being correct. We have evaluated our proposed model on the ground-truth data set provided by Dutch customs officers. We answer this question in a more general form by introducing HS-stability and characterising the HS-stable involution subsemigroup generated by a subset of a given involution semigroup.     This research examines independent study techniques, particularly those aided by technology, used by students majoring in English in their first year at Nguyen Tat Thanh University in Vietnam, with a focus on their study of vocabulary. English majors in particular used a variety of online tools to achieve a wide range of vocabulary in order to reach higher levels of language proficiency. Using a mixed-methods approach and an AI tool, Random Forest Regressor, this study aimed to identify the most frequently chosen online vocabulary tools and the factors influencing their use for independent study. It would also evaluate students’ aptitudes for self-directed learning, identify successful strategies, and recommend ways to foster independent learning through the use of technology. The findings highlight that independent study enhances academic outcomes critical thinking, and vocabulary learning autonomy

    HS-182 and HS-183 are food-grade soybean lines [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] with distinct seed protein profiles and food processing quality. HS-182 is a 7S β-conglycinin α’ and 11S glycinin A4 null with a high protein concentration of 45.7% and good processing quality. HS-183 is a 7S β-conglycinin α’ and 11S glycinin null with a protein concentration of 42.7% and poor tofu processing quality.     Background: Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic painful skin disease that severely impairs patients' quality of life. While high-quality trials of HS therapies remain limited, medical knowledge of best treatment practices is rapidly evolving, leading to the recent publication of multiple international treatment guidelines for HS. Summary: This review compares international HS treatment guidelines, describes evidence for effectiveness of common and emerging HS therapies, and provides guidance for integrating evidence-based HS care into practice. Although over 50 medical and procedural treatments are mentioned across international HS guidelines, only adalimumab and infliximab have grade B/weak recommendation or higher across all major guidelines. This review describes the appropriate patient selection and effectiveness of the most commonly used medical and procedural treatments for HS. It also includes recommendations for counseling, dosing, and duration of medical therapies as well as procedure videos for the practicing dermatologist

    Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that severely impairs patients' quality of life. It is characterized by recurrent painful nodules, abscesses and draining sinus tracts in primarily intertriginous areas. We aimed to review the most up-to-date information regarding the epidemiology, clinical presentation, diagnostic studies, pathogenesis, comorbidities and quality of life of patients with hidradenitis suppurativa. We performed a systematic search of Medline, Embase database (from inception to September 2019) and review of bibliographies without restrictions on year or language. HS has an estimated global prevalence of 0.00033–4.1% (but most likely 0.7–1.2% in the European-US population). Patients still experience a significant diagnostic delay, up to several years. In the absence of pathognomonic tests, the diagnosis of HS is made from clinical observation and the disease narrative. Phenotypic variation renders diagnosis and severity assessment difficult. Ultrasound imaging is an emerging assessment tool for deep-seated lesions. The Hurley Staging System is still widely used in severity rating. Follicular hyperkeratosis and dilatation, follicular rupture and chronic inflammation with architectural tissue changes have been implicated in the pathogenesis of HS. HS has been associated with metabolic syndrome and other risk factors for cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus type II, polycystic ovarian syndrome, depression, suicide and substance use disorders. It has been linked to other immune-mediated diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease and spondyloarthropathy. Pain, pruritus, malodour, low self-esteem, sleep and sexual dysfunctions, and poor mental health are chronic symptoms or consequences of uncontrolled disease. HS is an under-diagnosed and under-treated disease with a profound negative impact on patients' quality of life. In the light of its associated comorbidities, an interdisciplinary management approach may be needed to ensure the best outcomes

    HS-1371, a novel kinase inhibitor of RIP3-mediated necroptosis

    Necroptosis is a type of programmed cell death that usually occurs under apoptosis-deficient conditions. Receptor-interacting protein kinase-3 (RIP3, or RIPK3) is a central player in necroptosis, and its kinase activity is essential for downstream necroptotic signaling events. Since RIP3 kinase activity has been associated with various diseases, the development of specific RIP3 inhibitors is an attractive strategy for therapeutic application. In this study, we identified a potent RIP3 inhibitor, HS-1371, by the extensive screening of chemical libraries focused on kinases. HS-1371 directly binds to RIP3 in an ATP-competitive and time-independent manner, providing a mechanism of action. Moreover, the compound inhibited TNF-induced necroptosis but did not inhibit TNF-induced apoptosis, indicating that this novel inhibitor has a specific inhibitory effect on RIP3-mediated necroptosis via the suppression of RIP3 kinase activity.     Acquisition of plasmid with carbapenem-resistance gene blaKPC2 in hypervirulent Klebsiella pneumoniae, Singapore

    The convergence of carbapenem-resistance and hypervirulence genes in Klebsiella pneumoniae has led to the emergence of highly drug-resistant superbugs capable of causing invasive disease. We analyzed 556 carbapenem-resistant K. pneumoniae isolates from patients in Singapore hospitals during 2010-2015 and discovered 18 isolates from 7 patients also harbored hypervirulence features. All isolates contained a closely related plasmid (pKPC2) harboring blaKPC-2, a K. pneumoniae carbapenemase gene, and had a hypervirulent background of capsular serotypes K1, K2, and K20. In total, 5 of 7 first patient isolates were hypermucoviscous, and 6 were virulent in mice. The pKPC2 was highly transmissible and remarkably stable, maintained in bacteria within a patient with few changes for months in the absence of antimicrobial drug selection pressure. Intrapatient isolates were also able to acquire additional antimicrobial drug resistance genes when inside human bodies.
