    Neumaier Cayley graphs

    No full text
A Neumaier graph is a non-complete edge-regular graph with the property that it has a regular clique. In this paper, we study Neumaier Cayley graphs. We give a necessary and sufficient condition under which a Neumaier Cayley graph is a strongly regular Neumaier Cayley graph. We also characterize Neumaier Cayley graphs with small valency at most 1010.Comment: 17 pages, 1 figur

On the existence of small strictly Neumaier graphs

A Neumaier graph is a non-complete edge-regular graph containing a regular clique. In this work, we prove several results on the existence of small strictly Neumaier graphs. In particular, we present a theoretical proof of the uniqueness of the smallest strictly Neumaier graph with parameters (16,9,4;2,4)(16,9,4;2,4), we establish the existence of a strictly Neumaier graph with parameters (25,12,5;2,5)(25,12,5;2,5), and we disprove the existence of strictly Neumaier graphs with parameters (25,16,9;3,5)(25,16,9;3,5), (28,18,11;4,7)(28,18,11;4,7), (33,24,17;6,9)(33,24,17;6,9), (35,22,12;3,5)(35,22,12;3,5) and (55,34,18;3,5)(55,34,18;3,5). Our proofs use combinatorial techniques and a novel application of integer programming methods

A general construction of strictly Neumaier graphs and a related switching

    No full text
We present a construction of Neumaier graphs with nexus 1, which generalises two known constructions of Neumaier graphs. We also use W. Wang, L. Qiu, and Y. Hu switching to show that we construct cospectral Neumaier graphs. Finally, we show that several small strictly Neumaier graphs can be obtained from our construction, and give a geometric or algebraic description for each of these graphs

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    No full text
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods

Reframings : New American Feminist Photographies

    No full text
This book contains more than 250 photographs by 45 American women artists, along with essays on the artists' works by eight women art critics. By examining relations between photography, ideology and the objectification of women, the authors draw attention to a wide range of issues, including: gender, ethnicity, sexuality, age, class and homophobia. The following subjects are situated within the context of feminist critiques of visual representation: autobiographical photography; collaboration between photographer and person photographed; work by Native American and Asian American women; the self-representation of women's bodies; women's relationships to place; the politics of self-representing racial and sexual difference. Author, publisher and bookseller : a tripartite synergy in Nigerian book industry

    No full text
This work is about the roles of Author, Publisher and Bookseller in Book development in Nigeria. The paper started by delving into the history of Book Publishing in Nigeria after which it proceeded by defining who an author, a publisher, and a bookseller is and expatiated on the indispensable roles of these key actors in Nigerian Book Industry and in the emerging Information Society. Furthermore, the various constraints to book development were identified while the paper advised on how the Book Industry can be further promoted in Nigeria. However, the paper concluded and made recommendations on how the Book sector can help in enhancing scholarship in the country

Color Doppler appearance of penile cavernosal-spongiosal communications in patientswith normal and impaired erection

Our objective was to investigate prevalence and Doppler characteristics of penile cavernosal-spongiosal communications (CSC). These vessels are either anastomoses connecting the cavernosal arteries with the urethral arterial network or afferent vessels to the corpus spongiosum. Sixty-one consecutive patients underwent penile color Doppler US. Waveform changes in CSC were evaluated in comparison with changes in the cavernosal artery. Eighteen of 61 patients had normal erection, 17 of 61 had arterial insufficiency, and 26 of 61 had veno-occlusive dysfunction. Resistance index (RI) in CSC was significantly lower than in cavernosal arteries in all patients and increased during phases 1-2 (positive diastolic flow). Peak systolic velocity (PSV) in CSC was significantly higher in the patients with veno-occlusive dysfunction. During cavernosal phase 4 (diastolic flow reversal) CSC of patients with normal erection or with arterial insufficiency disappeared, underwent markedly reduced diastolic flow, or had systolic flow inversion. Conversely, low resistance flow was appreciable in CSC of patients with veno-occlusive dysfunction who reached phase 4. During phase 5 (systolic peak reduction) all CSC disappeared. Color Doppler US allows evaluation of CSC both in patients with normal and impaired erection
