Assessment of Knowledge, Attitude and Practices Regarding the Nutritional Needs of Pregnant Women
Purpose: The aim of this study was to assess the knowledge, attitude, and practices regarding the nutritional needs of pregnant women.
Methodology: A cross sectional descriptive study design was used among 177 participants who were selected using a purposive sampling technique. The study population consisted of pregnant women attending the outpatient department (OPD) of a tertiary care hospital.
Result: The analysis was done using SPSS version 21. The study was presented through frequency tables, bar charts and pie charts. The study found that of the 177 pregnant women surveyed, the majority of respondent were between the ages of 23-27 years. Gravida status showed 40.7% primary gravida and 59.3% were multi gravida. Only 57.1% (n=101) of the respondents had knowledge about consuming extra food during pregnancy. The 68.4% (n=121) of the respondents had believed that pregnant women should increase their food intake and (n=31.6%) of the respondents had poor nutrition practices during pregnancy.
Conclusion: The participants had insufficient knowledge and moderate attitude but had poor practice's regarding the nutritional needs of pregnant women. So it’s important to educate pregnant women that they can adopt healthy dietary habits

Obálkovité struktury v mezihvězdné hmotě: Pozorování versus simulace
Title: Shell-like structures in the ISM: Observation versus simulations Author: Vojtěch Sidorin ([email protected])1 Department: Astronomical Institute of Charles University2 Supervisor: Prof. RNDr. Jan Palouš, DrSc. ([email protected]), Astronomical Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences3 Abstract: Shell-like structures are objects found in large numbers in the inter- stellar medium (ISM). They usually appear as bubbles or segments of bubbles and are believed to result from the deposition of mass and energy into the ISM by stars, gamma-ray bursts, or high-velocity clouds. Interstellar turbulence may play a role in their creation too. These structures influence the dynamics of the ISM and are also linked to star formation. In this thesis, I review our current knowledge of the ISM, interstellar turbulence, and shell-like structures in the ISM. Then I present the research into the GLIMPSE bubble N107 conducted in collaboration with my colleagues. N107 is a dusty shell-like structure found in our Galaxy. We explored its atomic, molecular, and radio-continuum components; derived its distance (3.6 kpc), size (radius of 12 pc), and expansion velocity (8 km s−1 ); and identified 49 associated molecular clumps. Using numerical simulations, we estimated the conditions under which N107 formed and concluded...Název práce: Obálkovité struktury v mezihvězdné hmotě: Pozorování versus simulace Autor: Vojtěch Sidorin ([email protected])1 Katedra (ústav): Astronomický ústav Univerzity Karlovy2 Vedoucí dizertační práce: prof. RNDr.
Infračervené, optické a rentgenovské protějšky HI obálek v Mléčné dráze
Název práce: Infračervené, optické a rentgenovské protějšky H i obálek v Mléčné dráze Autor: Vojtěch Sidorin ([email protected]) Katedra (ústav): Astronomický ústav Univerzity Karlovy v Praze Vedoucí diplomové práce: Prof. RNDr. Jan Palouš, DrSc. ([email protected]), Astronomický ústav AV ČR, v. v. i. Datum poslední úpravy práce: 14.4.2008 Abstrakt. Kontext. Metody. (1) Rozbor snímků H i obálek v různých oborech vlnových délek. (2) Sdružení odpovídajících si objektů z katalogu H i obálek a z katalogu infračervených smyček. (3) Hledání mladých hvězdných objektů v blízkosti H i obálek po- mocí databáze SIMBAD. Výsledky. Z 628 katalogizovaných H i obálek má 52 potencionální protějšky v katalogu infračervených smyček. Podrobnější studium...Title: IR, optical and X-ray counterparts of H i shells in the Milky Way Author: Vojtěch Sidorin ([email protected]) Department: Astronomical Institute of the Charles University in Prague Supervisor: Prof. RNDr. Jan Palouš, DrSc. ([email protected]), Astronomical Institute, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, v. v. i. Date of the last edit: April 14, 2008 Abstract. Context. H i shells are expanding structures observed in the interstellar neutral hydrogen. They have been found mostly in the Milky Way, but also in several external galaxies. Although they have been observed since the second half of the twentieth century, their relation to other phases of interstellar medium is still not fully understood. Aims. For selected H i shells, to identify counterparts and discuss their mutual relation; especially the possibility of star formation triggered by the shells. Methods. (1) Analyzing multiwavelength images of H i shells. (2) Joining the corresponding catalogued H i shells with catalogued far-infrared loops. (3) Searching for young stellar objects in the SIMBAD database. Results. From the 628 catalogued H i shells, 52 have a potentional counterpart in the catalogue of far-infrared loops. Multiwavelength study of twelve selected H i shells has revealed that (i) the dust emission in their...Ústav teoretické fyzikyInstitute of Theoretical PhysicsFaculty of Mathematics and PhysicsMatematicko-fyzikální fakult

A Galactic-scale gas wave in the solar neighbourhood
João Alves (the first author) was a Harvard Radcliffe Fellow during the 2018-2019 academic year. I (a GSAS graduate student and second author on the manuscript) am submitting the waiver on his behalf. For the past 150 years, the prevailing view of the local Interstellar Medium (ISM) was based on a peculiarity known as the Gould's Belt (Herschel 1847, Gould 1874, Bobylev 2014, Palous 2016), an expanding ring of young stars, gas, and dust, tilted about 20 deg to the Galactic plane. Still, the physical relation between local gas clouds has remained practically unknown because the distance accuracy to clouds is of the same order or larger than their sizes (Maddalena 1986, Lombardi 2008, Schlafly 2014). With the advent of large photometric surveys (Chambers 2016) and the Gaia satellite astrometric survey (Brown 2018) this situation has changed (Zucker 2019)
Here we report the 3-D structure of all local cloud complexes. We find a narrow and coherent 2.7 kpc arrangement of dense gas in the Solar neighborhood that contains many of the clouds thought to be associated with the Gould Belt. This finding is inconsistent with the notion that these clouds are part of a ring, disputing the Gould Belt model. The new structure comprises the majority of nearby star-forming regions, has an aspect ratio of about 1:20, and contains about 3 million solar masses of gas. Remarkably, the new structure appears to be undulating and its 3-D distribution is well described by a damped sinusoidal wave on the plane of the Milky Way, with an average period of about 2 kpc and a maximum amplitude of about 160 pc. Our results represent a first step in the revision of the local gas distribution and Galactic structure and offer a new, broader context to studies on the transformation of molecular gas into stars.Version of Recor
