Global approaches to solving recognition problems of noisy images, 1989
An important problem in the area of pattern recognition is automatic detection of certain pre-assigned elements of an image distorted by noise. In this research, a global ap proach will be used. One such approach is to use an optimal smoothing algorithm which depends on efficient dynamic programming computational techniques. The basic purpose of this research is to make this dynamic programming process efficient in terms of storage requirement and computational effort. Our goal, using the objective function, is to find an optimal order of optimization and then design an effi cient computational technique. Two global techniques will be presented in this paper. Included is a graph-searching technique and the above men tioned technique using dynamic programming. Emphasis will be on the development of an algorithm using dynamic program ming. Accuracy of two face-bow/semi-adjustable articulator systems in transferring the maxillary occlusal cant
Context: The precision of an arbitrary face-bow in accurately transferring the orientation of the maxillary cast to the articulator has been questioned because the maxillary cast is mounted in relation to arbitrary measurements and anatomic landmarks that vary among individuals.
Aim: This study was intended to evaluate the sagittal inclination of mounted maxillary casts on two semi-adjustable articulator/face-bow systems in comparison to the occlusal cant on lateral cephalograms.
Materials and Methods: Maxillary casts were mounted on the Hanau and Girrbach semi-adjustable articulators following face-bow transfer with their respective face-bows. The sagittal inclination of these casts was measured in relation to the fixed horizontal reference plane using physical measurements. Occlusal cant was measured on lateral cephalograms. SPSS software (version 11.0, Chicago, IL, USA) was used for statistical analysis. Repeated measures analysis of variance and Tukey′s tests were used to evaluate the results (P < 0.05).
Results: Comparison of the occlusal cant on the articulators and cephalogram revealed statistically significant differences. Occlusal plane was steeper on Girrbach Artex articulator in comparison to the Hanau articulator.
Conclusion: Within the limitations of this study, it was found that the sagittal inclination of the mounted maxillary cast achieved with Hanau articulator was closer to the cephalometric occlusal cant as compared to that of the Girrbach articulator. Among the two articulators and face-bow systems, the steepness of sagittal inclination was greater on Girrbach semi-adjustable articulator. Different face-bow/articulator systems could result in different orientation of the maxillary cast, resulting in variation in stability, cuspal inclines and cuspal heights

A Randomized Controlled Trial Study on the Effect of Adding Dexmedetomidine to Bupivacaine in Supraclavicular Block Using Ultrasound Guidance
BACKGROUND: The benefits of regional anesthetic techniques are well established. Use of additives to local anesthetics can prolong these benefits. The aim of this study was to find out the effect of adding dexmedetomidine to bupivacaine for supraclavicular block.METHODS: In this randomized, double-blind study, 70 ASA I & II patients of either sex undergoing elective surgeries on the upper limb were given supraclavicular block under ultrasound guidance. Group C (n=35) received 38 mL 0.25% bupivacaine + 2mL normal saline and group D received 38 mL 0.25% bupivacaine + 1 μg/kg dexmedetomidine (2mL). Patients were observed for, onset of motor and sensory block, duration of motor and sensory block, duration of analgesia, sedation score, hemodynamic changes and any adverse events.RESULTS: In group D, the onset was faster (P< 0.001), durations of sensory and motor block duration of and analgesia were prolonged as compared to group C (P < 0.0001).There was a significant drop in heart rate (HR) from the baseline in group D (P < 0.05) at 30, 60, 90 and 120 min. However, none of the patients dropped HR below 50/min. Mean Arterial Pressure (MAP) remained unaffected. The patients in group D were more effectively sedated than those in group C (P < 0.05). No adverse event was reported in either group.CONCLUSION: Dexmedetomidine as adjuvant to bupivacaine in supraclavicular block resulted in faster action, prolonged motor and sensory block, prolonged analgesia with hemodynamic stability and adequate sedation.KEYWORDS: Dexmedetomidine, analgesia, supraclavicular bloc
A comparative study of effect of dexmedetomidine in dose of 0.7µg/kg and clonidine in doses of 2µg/kg as premedication before general anaesthesia
Background: Alpha -2 adrenoceptor agonists have widely been used in anaesthesia and critical care as analgesics and sedatives. Both clonidine and dexmedetomidine, a more selective and specific α-2 agonist have been shown to decrease induction doses of i.v. anaesthetics and intraoperative opioid and volatile anaesthetic requirements for maintenance of anaesthesia resulting in more rapid recovery from anaesthesia and also a reduced need for pain medication in post-operative period, thereby reducing the length of stay. The current prospective randomised double blind study was undertaken to compare the effects of dexmedetomidine and clonidine, as i.v. premedication, on perioperative hemodynamics , reduction in dose of inducing agent and post-operative analgesia duration.Methods: A total of 60 ASA class I and II patients undergoing elective surgeries under general anesthesia were randomised into two groups. Group D- dexmedetomidine 0.7µg/kg, and group C- clonidine 2µg/kg. Drugs were given 15 minutes before induction. The cases were conducted under General anesthesia with endotracheal intubation using Propofol, Vecuronium, N2O and O2. Heart rate, blood pressure, dose of inducing agent and time of rescue analgesia were recorded.Results: The rise in mean arterial pressure and heart rate during intubation and extubation was lesser with group D as compared to group C. (p<0.05). Lesser amounts of inducing agent was required with group D as compared to group C (p<0.0001). Post-operative analgesia duration was more with group D as compared to group C (p<0.001).Conclusions: Study concluded that Dexmedetomidine had better control over hemodynamics as compared to clonidine when given as premedication, the drug dose used for induction was lesser and also the post-operative analgesia duration was longer with dexmedetomidine.
Assessment of the trace elements level in urban atmospheric particulate matter and source apportionment in Islamabad, Pakistan
AbstractThe present study was conducted to investigate the distribution, correlation, source apportionment and enrichment of trace elements (Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Pb, Sb and Zn) in the urban atmospheric particulate matter. The total suspended particulate matter samples were extracted in nitric acid and hydrochloric acid mixture, followed by the quantification of the trace elements on flame atomic absorption spectrophotometer. The estimated elemental data were then evaluated for their mutual variations in the urban particles. Average 24-h concentrations of Fe and Zn were dominant in the atmospheric particles followed by Cu, Pb, Co, Cr, and Sb, while lowest concentrations were observed for Mn and Cd. The present TSP and elemental levels were also compared with those reported from other areas around the world. The correlation study showed strong relationships between TSP-Fe, Mn-Fe, TSP-Mn, Pb-Mn, Cd- Pb, and Co-Zn. Principal component and cluster analyses revealed automobile emissions, industrial activities, combustion processes and mineral dust as the major pollution sources in the atmospheric particles. Among the trace elements, Sb, Cd, Zn and Pb showed very high enrichment by the anthropogenic activities, while Co and Cu were also significantly enriched in the particulate samples. Most of the trace elements exhibited random distribution with diverse correlations in the atmospheric particles. Comparison of the present elemental levels with those reported from other areas around the world showed relatively elevated concentrations of the elements in the atmospheric particulates. Different anthropogenic activities were found to be mainly responsible for the trace element pollution duly supported by the enrichment factors
PROFESIONALITAS NAZIR PERWAKILAN BADAN WAKAF INDONESIA DAERAH ISTIMEWA YOGYAKARTA
Badan Wakaf Indonesia (BWI) has the task of building and managing wakaf assets. In carrying out its duties, BWI can form representatives in the region. Representatives in the district also have the same responsibilities in conducting guidance and management. In the Special Region of Yogyakarta, in 2013 a Representative of BWI DIY was formed, but the implementation of the new coaching function was done in the third period of management right at the end of 2019. Meanwhile, management was never done. From the background of this problem, the author formulates the following problem: how professionally the representative of the Indonesian Waqf Agency as a nazir for supervisors and managers of waqf assets in the Special Region of Yogyakarta
This type of research is field research with a sociological normative approach. This means that this research is a combination of the normative law approach (law) with the addition of various elements of the sociological approach with the theory of functional structure and Good Nadzir Governance. While the data analysis method used is descriptive analytical. In collecting data, the compiler uses observational methods, interviews and documentation.
The results show that: First, BWI DIY representatives have conducted training in the form of training and outreach as well as consulting activities, but have not been in line with existing theories in law and regulation because the implementation of construction is done at least once a year. Meanwhile, the management of waqf assets independently is not possible because it is still focused on construction. So, it can be said that the management of the BWI DIY Representative Office for the period 2013-2019 is not yet professional in carrying out its duties and functions. Second, the application of professionalism to the management of the BWI DIY Representative Office for the period 2013-2019 after being analyzed using Good Nadzir Governace, especially the principle of transparency, can also be said to be unprofessional, because the BWI DIY Representative for the period 2013-2019 has not published how many endowment assets and construction activities while running the organization as a form of responsible responsibility for the management of waqf assets to the people. Third, the application of professionalism to the management of BWI DIY Representatives for the period 2013-2019 after being analyzed using functional structure theory can be said to be unprofessional, because BWI DIY representatives for the period 2013-2019 have not been able to adapt to their environment, do not have a clear vision and mission, which resulted in the DIY BWI Representative for the period 2013-2019 not having the ability to support himself, especially in fulfilling facilities and infrastructure
Management of Waqf Land in Tanjung Morawa District According to Law Number 41 of 2004 (Analysis of Nazir Performance in Productive Waqf Development)
The purpose of the research is to find out how the performance of Nazhir in the management of waqf land in Tanjung Morawa Subdistrict, to find out what are the steps taken by Nazhir in Tanjung Morawa Subdistrict in productive waqf management, and to find out what are the inhibiting factors for productive waqf management in Tanjung Morawa Subdistrict. The research conducted is social research. The research method used in this discussion is qualitative research method. The approach that the author uses in discussing this research is an empirical or sociological approach. The method of data collection carried out by the author is by means of field observation and examining the data sources that the author mentions, namely primary, secondary, and tertiary. The management of waqf land carried out by Nazhir in Tanjung Morawa District has not led to productive waqf, only limited to maintenance and utilization, In general, the management of waqf land in Tanjung Morawa District is still in the traditional and consumptive period, which is only effective in terms of social religion. The steps taken by Nazhir in developing waqf productively in Tanjung Morawa District are: The making of the baitul Mall box carried out by the Nazhir of the Shalatul falah mosque and the management of rice fields as a baitul mall carried out by Mr. Masduki in Punden Rejo Village, where the proceeds from the rice fields are used as a source of KAS income for the mosque and are also distributed to underprivileged people. factors that hinder the development of productive waqf in Tanjung Morawa District, including: The strength of the old understanding of Muslims regarding waqf management, Lack of socialization to Nazir and Nazirs who are not professional in carrying out productive waqf management
