LETHESCA – Malek Bennabi’s Seminar History and Memory of a Center of Influence of the Thought of an Algerian
No full textThis contribution is based on an interview, long awaited since the 50th anniversary of the death of the Algerian thinker Malek Bennabi (1905-1973). Today, the time has come to concretize this project of a philosophical talk with Abderrahmane Benamara, author of several works on the thinker. In the discreet form of a brief interview, this meeting constitutes the unexpected opportunity to retrace the journey of Malek Bennabi, to follow the path of his avant-garde thought, to list all of his extraordinarily at odds with each other. For this reason, this modest contribution has the only legitimate claim to assert what academically it is agreed to designate as the Places and Spaces of the Transmission Outside the Establishment of the Knowledge and Knowledge of Algerians (LETHESCA) - places that have always been able to welcome with a touch of nostalgia the Private Seminars of Malek Bennabi. A veritable breeding ground, Bennabian knowledge constitutes the first milestones of the International Seminars on Islamic Thought organized periodically from the fourth seminar on Islamic thought by the successive Ministries of Mouloud Kacem Nait Belkacem (January 6, 1927 – August 27, 1992) – Minister of Habous (1970), Minister of Original Education and Religious Affairs (1970-1977), Minister to the Presidency of the Republic in charge of Religious Affairs (1977-1979).Cette contribution repose sur un entretien, tant attendu depuis le 50e anniversaire de la disparition du penseur algérienMalek Bennabi (1905-1973). Aujourd’hui, le moment est arrivé de concrétiser ce projet de causerie philosophique avec Abderrahmane Benamara, auteur de plusieurs travaux sur le penseur. Sous la discrèteforme d’une brève entrevue, cetterencontre constitue l’occasion inespérée de retracer le parcours du combattant de Malek Bennabi, de suivre le cheminement de sa pensée avant-gardiste,d’en répertorier tous les travaux extraordinairement en porte-à-faux. IDAT@FIRE2019: Overview of the Track on Irony Detection in Arabic Tweets
No full text[EN] This overview paper describes the first shared task on irony
detection for the Arabic language. The task consists of a binary classification of tweets as ironic or not using a dataset composed of 5,030
Arabic tweets about different political issues and events related to the
Middle East and the Maghreb. Tweets in our dataset are written in
Modern Standard Arabic but also in different Arabic language varieties
including Egypt, Gulf, Levantine and Maghrebi dialects. Eighteen teams
registered to the task among which ten submitted their runs. The methods of participants ranged from feature-based to neural networks using
either classical machine learning techniques or ensemble methods. The
best performing system achieved F-score value of 0.844, showing that
classical feature-based models outperform the neural ones.This publication was made possible by NPRP grant 9-175-1-033 from the Qatar

Modern methods in evaluating the teaching performance of the university professor between the hoped and the reality of implementation in Algeria.
No full textThe importance of evaluating job performance is increased by increasing awareness of what it can offer for planning, organizing, training, and recruitment in any administrative organization or educational institution. Where it is considered one of the most important activities and processes related to human resources management, but it still does not receive enough attention. There is considerable controversy and doubt, especially the evaluation of academic performance of faculty members in general, and teaching performance in particular, we find it mostly personal and according to individual jurisprudence and is still far from objective orthodontic treatments to detect and address deficiencies, in addition to many complaints from students about poor teaching performance of some faculty members, some of whom have left their lectures, or performed in a formal manner that does not take into account what should be the effective teaching performance. Accordingly, this study examines the possibility of adopting and applying modern methods in evaluating the teaching performance of the university professor in Algeria
Influence Yield Stress on Arrest Pressure in Pipe Predicted by CTOA
No full textAbstractIn this paper, the resistance to ductile crack extension is discussed in terms CTOA. Selection of CTOA is based on the reduced number of parameters and the low sensitivity to pipe geometry. Numerical simulations of crack propagation and arrest based on CTOA use the node release technique, which is described. Results on a pipe made in steel API L ,X52, X65 and X 100 are presented. The influence material parameters on crack arrest and velocity using this technique are presented. For the same decompression wave pressure, the crack propagation velocity is inversely proportional to the resistance to crack extension of the material, which is the dominant parameter. The crack velocity versus decompression is expressed by a CTOAc function of resistance to crack extensio
The interplay of style, information structure and definiteness: Double indirect objects in Figuig Berber narratives
No full textIn Figuig Berber, like in many other Berber languages, it is possible to express the indirect object by a lexical expression and by a pronominal clitic in the same sentence. This construction, called “dative doubling” in the literature, is in variation with constructions that do not have a pronominal clitic. In this article, dative doubling is studied in two corpora, one written corpus (Benamara 2011), and one spoken corpus, collected by the author. It is shown that dative doubling is all but absent in the written corpus, while it is quite frequent in the spoken corpus. In the spoken corpus, there is a clear correlation with information structure. Dative doubling is only rarely found with indirect objects that express new information, while it appears more than half of the times when indirect objects express old information. In addition, it is obligatory when expressing old information with the verb ini ‘to say’.L’interaction du style, de la structure informationnelle et de la définitude : les objets indirects doubles dans les récits en berbère de Figuig En berbère de Figuig, à l’instar d’autres langues berbères, il est possible d’exprimer l’objet indirect dans le même énoncé, et par une expression lexicale, et par un élément pronominal. Cette construction, connue par le terme “redoublement datif”, entre en variation avec des constructions où l’expression pronominale fait défaut. Dans cet article, nous étudierons le redoublement datif dans un corpus écrit (Benamara 2011) et dans un corpus oral, recueilli par nous-mêmes. Nous démontrons que le redoublement datif est quasiment absent dans le corpus écrit, tandis qu’il est bien attesté dans le corpus oral. Dans le corpus oral, son emploi montre une corrélation assez claire avec la structure informative de la phrase. Tandis qu’il est très rare d’avoir le redoublement datif avec des objets indirects qui donnent des informations nouvelles, il se trouve dans plus de la moitié des objets indirects exprimant des informations anciennes. En outre, il s’avère obligatoire quand des informations anciennes sont exprimées avec le verbe ini ‘dire’
An Algerian Corpus and an Annotation Platform for Opinion and Emotion Analysis
No full textInternational audienceIn this paper, we address the lack of resources for opinion and emotion analysis related to North African dialects, targeting Algerian dialect. We present TWIFIL (TWItter proFILing) a collaborative annotation platform for crowdsourcing annotation of tweets at different levels of granularity. The plateform allowed the creation of the largest Algerian dialect dataset annotated for both sentiment (9,000 tweets), emotion (about 5,000 tweets) and extra-linguistic information including author profiling (age and gender). The annotation resulted also in the creation of the largest Algerien dialect subjectivity lexicon of about 9,000 entries which can constitute a valuable resources for the development of future NLP applications for Algerian dialect. To test the validity of the dataset, a set of deep learning experiments were conducted to classify a given tweet as positive, negative or neutral. We discuss our results and provide an error analysis to better identify classification errors
Automatic Detection of Depressive Users in Social Media
No full textAccording to the World Health Organization, 350 million people worldwide sufferfrom depression. Detecting this trouble constitutes thus a challenge for personal and publichealth. Research in psychology has shown a strong correlation between the psychological stateof an individual and its language use. In this paper, we propose to leverage such linguisticfeatures to automatically detect depressive users on social media posts. Our approach is super-vised and relies on a set of features going from standard bag of words and surface features tomore linguistically informed features. This approach has been evaluated on Reddit social mediaposts and applied on two tasks: (a) Given user’s posts, detect whether the author is depressiveor not, (b) Given a user’s history of writings, early detect signs of depression. Our results showthat our approach is reliable on both tasks

Since then, OSP has evolved from a small community into a diverse network of stakeholders committed to advancing open-source solutions for model-informed drug development (MIDD). In this context, the first OSP Community Conference was hosted by Novartis in Basel, Switzerland, on October 7–8, 2024, which gathered over 100 attendees from more than 40 institutions. Molecular beam epitaxial growth of Bi2Te3 and Sb2Te3 topological insulators on GaAs (111) substrates: a potential route to fabricate topological insulator p-n junction
No full textHigh quality Bi2Te3 and Sb2Te3 topological insulators films were epitaxially grown on GaAs (111) substrate using solid source molecular beam epitaxy. Their growth and behavior on both vicinal and non-vicinal GaAs (111) substrates were investigated by reflection high-energy electron diffraction, atomic force microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and high resolution transmission electron microscopy. It is found that non-vicinal GaAs (111) substrate is better than a vicinal substrate to provide high quality Bi2Te3 and Sb2Te3 films. Hall and magnetoresistance measurements indicate that p type Sb2Te3 and n type Bi2Te3 topological insulator films can be directly grown on a GaAs (111) substrate, which may pave a way to fabricate topological insulator p-n junction on the same substrate, compatible with the fabrication process of present semiconductor optoelectronic devices
