The integrated requalification of Autor's Urban Peripheries. Tools and strategies
No full textThe actions to be taken on urban Periferies, with a view to the Agenda 2030 SDGs, need new tools, starting from the identification of contemporary quality architectures within the extended field of recent construction production. The census activities are the first step to promote heritage’s knowledge and valorization and, in the long term, conservation and protection. This study, moving from the National Census of Italian Architecture of the late Twentieth Century and “Città pubblica” Census, identifies the salient points of this scientific tool and traces the development lines that can outline future scenarios in the integrated requalification of the public housing Quarters belonging to the Poetics of the large dimension with Author declination. Although these buildings, from a historical-critical point of view, are already fully included in the Cultural Heritage concept and the Census is an evidence still for them there is no defined technological and environmental operational strategy that adapts them to the needs and uses of contemporary society, compatibly with the "designing intentions" and with their recognized cultural value. Through the definition of technological-environmental criteria on national cases, the characteristics of the building-type are described and long-term strategies are illustrated, allowing the artefact’s transmission as evidence of Italian architectural culture’s period and taking the form of a small-scale green city concept approach

No full textThe increasing level of attention developed over the last decades in the building sector on the energy saving issue has led us to find new approaches and new construction solutions based on a more responsible attitude in relation to sustainability aspects.
The project research is therefore oriented to the identifcation of environmental strategies that consider the building product as a whole and that transform the envelope into a dynamic element, capable of interacting with the surrounding environment, internal and external.
The case study of the Autor’s Urban Perpheries, an industrialized model of the big dimension designed between the fifties and the eighties by the best names of the period, appears to be of particular interest because here the building envelope becomes not only a tool through which to transmit efficiency and sustainability but also relevant quality characteristics

No full textNegli ultimi anni il tema dell’architettura contemporanea ha assunto un ruolo sempre più incisivo all’interno del dibattito sul patrimonio culturale della nazione; ai fini della salvaguardia di questo patrimonio, il Ministero per i beni e le attività culturali e per il turismo (MiBACT) ha intrapreso una serie di iniziative finalizzate in primo luogo alla conoscenza dell’architettura contemporanea, in quanto, per la complessità del problema sotto il profilo storico-critico, l’attività di tutela del contemporaneo necessita della definizione di nuovi criteri d’intervento, a partire dalla identificazione delle architetture “di eccellenza” presenti all’interno della estesa produzione edilizia recente, spesso priva di qualità. Il Censimento è un programma di ricognizione e ricerca che si è posto l’obiettivo di delineare il panorama delle opere di architettura di rilevante interesse storico, culturale ed artistico realizzate
in Italia a partire dal secondo dopoguerra che mette in evidenza una varietà stilistica e culturale legata ai profondi legami che l’architettura contemporanea ha intrattenuto con il proprio territorio. Giorgio Raineri, il «nuovo architetto torinese» come lo definì Vittorio Gregotti in suo saggio del 1956 su «Casabella- Continuità», lavorò alla diffusione di uno stile architettonico comune, fondato sulla dicotomia tra storia e nuovo linguaggio, innovazione
tecnologica e funzionale, sulla tradizione dei materiali e sull’espressione formale; la vicenda professionale di Rainieri si accompagnò ad uno dei momenti più importanti della trasformazione del territorio torinese, poiché egli partecipò attivamente al dibattito architettonico sulla ricostruzione delle città, lasciando tracce indelebili con opere di altissimo profilo tecnico e artistico

AWTA, A new Way for Tor Sapienza intende, a partire dalle scelte di masterplan, trasformare il contesto di Tor Sapienza, nel rispetto di ciò che è oggi questo quartiere ed offre a i suoi abitanti un di più che lo rendere maggiormente vivibile e fruibile. Il metodo è quello di avvicinare la borgata al comparto Morandi tramite: - il potenziamento della viabilità carrabile dalla borgata ed attraverso il comparto; - la creazione di un asse attrezzato residenziale, commerciali e servizi in corrispondenza di Viale De Chirico, viale che si configura oggi come un limite in termini di separazione tra la borgata ed il comparto ATER; - il potenziamento attraverso la creazione di ulteriore spazio residenziale e terziario in corrispondenza di Via De Pisis;- l'inserimento alle intersezioni principali, quindi Via De Pisis/Viale Giorgio Morandi e alle spalle del comparto, in prossimità della chiesa di nuova costruzione e del nuovo centro sportivo, di luoghi di polarità. Progettare la sostenibilità andando ad intervenire su un edificio esistente, che per di più è caratterizzato da una qualità compositiva importante, vuole richiamare sicuramente una serie di attenzioni e di accortezze nei confronti dell'edificio preso in esame. Qualità che non si esprime soltanto in termini di guadagni energetici a anche in termini di "valore compositivo nel rispetto del valore compositivo esistente"
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
