Do Organizational Justice Perceptions Influence Whistleblowing Intentions of Public Employees?
This study attempts to explore and explain the relationships between whistleblowing tendency and justice perceptions of public employees. To this end, a research has been conducted by 312 public sector employees in Yalova and Sakarya in Turkey. Due to the importance of public employees' whistleblowing tendency for public interest or public health and safety, the writers decided to take public sector employees as the sample. This research is an empirical study based on obtaining data through questionnaire. The main results of this study are that organizational justice perception increases whistleblowing tendency of public employees, and organizational trust plays a mediating role in this relationship
Procedia Social and Behavioral Sciences
In this study, the term strategic orientation that was developed within the scope of competitive advantage theories in the literature is analysed through the case of ASEM (Furniture Market of Sakarya). Throughout the study, the status of ASEM members is defined and the relationship of the strategic orientation of the firms with their innovation strategies is determined. This study has been conducted for defining the status of strategic orientation of the firms (market orientation, entrepreneurial orientation and technology orientation) in using innovation capabilities. Within the study, a model has been developed under the assumption that strategic orientations have positive effects on market performance and creating costumer value through innovation capabilities. The data is collected through a survey that tests strategic orientations, innovation types and market performance for SMEs in ASEM. The findings suggest that proactive market orientation, proactive entrepreneurial orientation and technology orientation are positively related in innovation capabilities. In addition, innovation capabilities play a key role between strategic orientation and market performance. (C) 2015 The Authors. Published by Elsevier Ltd
The effect of greenwashing on online consumer engagement: A comparative study in France, Germany, Turkey, and the United Kingdom
The effect of the Volkswagen emission crisis in 2015, the biggest greenwashing event in recent years, on the online consumer engagement of Facebook brand pages was investigated in France, Germany, Turkey, and the United Kingdom. These countries have been selected for the reason that Volkswagen sales and diesel-engine cars and the use of social media are quite common. For 6 years in these four countries, the likes, comments, and shares made by consumers on the Facebook brand page of Volkswagen have been examined. The monthly dataset covers January 2012 to December 2017. The obtained data were analyzed with autoregressive-moving average models. Despite a globally positive approach to green products, countries' attitudes toward greenwashing have been significantly different. The findings showed that online consumer engagement was negative in the United Kingdom and Turkey and in a positive direction in Germany, whereas there was no change in France in the fourth quarter of 2015
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
All market players try to create strong relations with consumers for gaining sustainable competitive advantages. This approach is dictated by stiff competition. Knowing the possible critical factors shaping the loyalty, therefore, is a necessity for organizations. Also, they should comprehend the interactions among the factors of consumer decision-making process. In this context, this study investigates the effects of perceived service quality by consumers on their evaluation process and also loyalty behavior. Thus, we analyzed the interactions among perceived service quality, customer satisfaction, perceived firm image, and attitude. Through these interactions this research study tried to explore the effect of perceived service quality on loyalty behavior at the last stage. A survey was conducted by face-to-face interviews with 262 airline consumers at Internatıonal Ataturk Airport, Istanbul. The hypotheses of the study were tested by t-test and regression analyses. The principal result from the study can be summarized that perceived service quality has a strong effect on satisfaction, firm image, and attitude that are described as antecedent for behavior, and also loyalty
