    The Design of PSB-VVER Experiments Carried-Out Inside the TACIS Contract N. 30303

    Integral Test Facility (ITF) experimental programs are relevant for validating the Best Estimate (BE) Thermal Hydraulic codes (TH) used for transient and accident analyses, design of Accident Management (AM) procedures, licensing of Nuclear Power Plants (NPP), etc. The validation process is based on well designed experiments. It consists in the comparison of the measured and calculated parameters and the determination whether a computer code has an adequate capability in predicting the major phenomena expected to occur for transient and/or accidents. University of Pisa (UNIPI) was responsible of the numerical design of the 12 experiments executed in PSB-VVER facility, operated at Electrogorsk Research and Engineering Center (EREC), in the framework of the TACIS Contract 3.03.03 Part A. This paper describes the methodology adopted at UNIPI, starting form the scenarios foreseen in the final Test Matrix (TM) until the execution of the experiments. This process considers three key topics: a) the scaling issue and the simulation, with unavoidable distortions, of the expected performance of the reference NPP, b) the code assessment process involving the identification of phenomena challenging the code models, c) the features of the concerned ITF (scaling limitations, control logics, data acquisition system, instrumentation, etc.). An overview of all the activities performed in this respect is provided focusing the discussion on the relevance of the heat losses. This issue is particularly relevant for addressing the scaling approach related to the power and volume of the facility

    The author discusses the so-called „civil poetry”, which is now closer to journalism and becomes part of the political discourse, becoming part of media. The poetry participates in political communication, reflecting the oppositional sentiment of society. The author demonstrates that poetic discourse approaches to the journalistic one by the set of ideologemes, the social evaluation, the author’s intention to change the perception and the worldview of the recipient, the strategies of persuasion and linguistic manipulation. Special attention is given to irony and citations as interpretive methods of formation of the evaluation, and to expression of subjectivity. The article concludes the convergence of poetic and political discursive practices. The research is based on the material of Russian socio-political poetry of the circle of the “New literary review”, fellonneau poetry of D. Bykov and L. Kaganov and German political poetry, published by the newspaper “Die Zeit”. Content analysis, linguistic analysis of the text and com- municative-cognitive analysis methods have been used

    AbstractIn this thesis, light-tissue interaction was investigated through different experimental and analytical methodologies to analyze optical and polarization properties over time and the obtained results were utilized in biomedical and food science applications. In this thesis, soft biological tissues (pork samples) were selected as a biological tissue due to their similarity to human tissue. First, the relative spectral changes of absorbance were studied by applying two different custom-built configurations. A Monte Carlo modelling and principal component analysis (PCA) method were applied further to the absorbance dataset to provide thorough studies for a spectroscopic approach. Second, a novel application of Mueller matrix (MM) imaging polarimetry was pioneered to visualize the dynamics of the tissue polarization properties over time with a custom-built Mueller matrix imaging polarimeter (MMIP). Frequency distribution histograms (FDHs) and the changes in the statistical moments of the MM elements were analyzed over time to provide qualitative and quantitative information of the tissue polarization properties. Finally, a new Stokes-polarimetry was introduced to examine optically thin histological sections from optically anisotropic biological tissues with different morphological structures.In summary, in spectroscopic and imaging polarimetry approaches, prominent changes in optical properties of the examined soft biological tissues were discriminated over time. The obtained results are promising in the development of a novel non-destructive tool for monitoring biological tissues for application in biomedical applications and the food industry.
