Confine o frontiera? La Liguria di Francesco Biamonti
Di Francesco Biamonti (San Biagio della Cima, Imperia, 1928-2001) recentemente scomparso restano quattro romanzi omogenei quanto a temi e stile, asciutto e scarno, e ben radicati nella geografia dell'entroterra dell'estremo Ponente ligure. Uomo e scrittore di confine o di frontièra? Definendo, sia pure in via provvisoria, con «confine» una situazione geoculturale ben delimitata da una linea che marca più o meno nettamente la divisione tra «dentro» e «fuori», e con «frontiera» una fascia mobile che pulsa e si apre di continuo a nuovi apporti, Giorgio Bertone propende per l'arruolamento di Biamonti nella prima categoria, nonostante le evidenti proiezioni dello scrittore ligure verso la cultura, il paesaggio, la lingua francese. In aquesta dialettica tra «confine» e «frontiera», scandita anche su altri exempla illustri, si scava e definisce meglio, al di là della piccola mitologia sorta intorno al personaggio Biamonti, il senso della sua arte e del suo inconfondibile stile.On his recent death, Francisco Biamonti (Saint Biagio della Cima, Imperia, 1928-2001) left four novels, homogenous in terms of theme and style and the dry, inhospitale landscape profoundly located in the far western hinterland of Liguria. Man and border of the frontier writer? Provisionally defining, border in terms of a limited geo-cultural situation, a line that more or less clearly marks the division between «inside» and «outside», and «frontier » in terms of a mobile construct or fa ade that pulsates and is continually open to new contributions, George Bertone inclines toward placing Biamonti in the first category, in spite of the Liguria writer's evident connections with French culture, landscape, and language. He pursues the dialectic between «border» and «frontier», also demostrated with other notable examples, refines the definitions of the terms and also examines the small body of mythology that has arisen around the personality of Biamonti, his art and unmistakable style
On almost revlex ideals with Hilbert function of complete intersections
In this paper, we investigate the behavior of almost reverse lexicographic ideals with
the Hilbert function of a complete intersection. More precisely, over a field K, we give
a newconstructive proof of the existence of the almost revlex ideal J ⊂ K[x1, . . . , xn],
with the sameHilbert function as a complete intersection defined by n forms of degrees
d1 ≤ · · · ≤ dn. Properties of the reduction numbers for an almost revlex ideal have an
important role in our inductive and constructive proof,which is different from the more
general construction given by Pardue in 2010. We also detect several cases in which
an almost revlex ideal having the same Hilbert function as a complete intersection
corresponds to a singular point in a Hilbert scheme. This second result is the outcome
of a more general study of lower bounds for the dimension of the tangent space to a
Hilbert scheme at stable ideals, in terms of the number of minimal generators

On the SO(n + 3) to SO(n) branching multiplicity space Sur l'espace de multiplicité de branchement de SO(n + 3) vers SO(n)
We study the decomposition as an SO(3)-module of the multiplicity space corresponding to the branching from SO(n+3) to SO(n). Here, SO(n) (resp. SO(3)) is considered embedded in SO(n+3) in the upper left-hand block (resp. lower right-hand block). We show that when the highest weight of the irreducible representation of SO(n) interlaces the highest weight of the irreducible representation of SO(n+3), then the multiplicity space decomposes as a tensor product of ⌊(n+2)/2⌋ reducible representations of SO(3).Nous étudions la décomposition de l'espace de multiplicité, comme -module, correspondant au branchement de vers . Ici, (resp. ) est considéré comme plongé dans dans le bloc en haut à gauche (resp. le bloc en bas à droite). APFELgrid: A high performance tool for parton density determinations
We present a new software package designed to reduce the computational burden of hadron collider measurements in Parton Distribution Function (PDF) fits. The APFELgrid package converts interpolated weight tables provided by APPLgrid files into a more efficient format for PDF fitting by the combination with PDF and as evolution factors provided by APFEL. This combination significantly reduces the number of operations required to perform the calculation of hadronic observables in PDF fits and simplifies the structure of the calculation into a readily optimised scalar product. We demonstrate that our technique can lead to a substantial speed improvement when compared to existing methods without any reduction in numerical accuracy.
