    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Main Chain 1,5-Disubstituted-1 H -Tetrazole-Based Polymers via Ugi-Azide-Four-Multicomponent Polymerization (UA-4MCP)

    The utilization of the distinctive molecular architecture of tetrazoles, which comprises a five-membered ring containing four nitrogen atoms, offers tremendous potential in the field of polymer chemistry. Although research on pendant chain tetrazole-containing polymers has been considerably reported, the exploration of advanced synthesis methods for main chain tetrazole-based polymers has not been extensively undertaken. On this premise, the synthesis of main chain 1,5-disubstituted-1H-tetrazole (1,5-DS-T)-based compounds was investigated to showcase the possibility of polymer formation by using the Ugi-azide-four-multicomponent polymerization (UA-4MCP) strategy. Particularly, UA-4MC polymers were designed with various side groups (e.g., aliphatic or aromatic) and engineered for a post-polymerization modification via thiol-ene photo-click reaction. The chemical characterization confirmed 1,5-DS-T-based polymer formation with a number average molecular mass (Mn) up to 8500 g mol–1. Importantly, side-group variation permitted tuning the glass-transition temperature (Tg) between −25 and 60 °C. Furthermore, the polymers exhibited moderate thermal stability up to 305 ± 10 °C besides interesting nonconventional fluorescence behavior.Fil: Akdemir, Meryem S..     Variations on the Author

    “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Bu çalışmada, sağlık çalışanlarının çalışma yaşam kalitesinin sağlık çalışanlarının performansına ne düzeyde etki sağlayacağı bilimsel yöntemlerle analiz edilemeye çalışılmıştır. Çalışmanın amacı Batman İluh Devlet Hastanesi'nde çalışmakta olan sağlık çalışanlarının çalışma yaşam kalitesinin iş performansları üzerinde etkisini belirtmek ve sağlık sektöründeki çalışanların performanslarını artırmaya yönelik önerilerde bulunmaktır. Bu çalışmada veri toplama tekniği olarak anket metodu kullanılmıştır. 234 çalışan çevrimiçi anket formları ile katılmış olup, çalışmanın verileri SPSS paket programı kullanılarak değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırma verileri Kolmogorov Smirnov Testi ile dağılımın normal olup olmadığı belirlemek için kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda Batman İluh Devlet Hastanesi'nde çalışmakta olan sağlık personelinde; çalışma yaşam kalitesi çalışma ortamı ve koşulları, verilen hizmetler, iş performansı, görev performansı, bağlamsal performans, puanları arasında korelasyon analizleri incelendiğinde; korelasyon ilişkileri istatistiksel olarak anlamlı olmadığı tespit edilmiştir.In this study, it was tried to analyze with scientific methods to what extent the quality of working life of healthcare professionals will affect the performance of healthcare professionals. The aim of the study is to indicate the effect of the quality of working life of healthcare professionals working at Batman Iluh State Hospital on their job performance and to make suggestions to increase the performance of employees in the healthcare sector. In this study, the survey method was used as the data collection technique. 234 employees participated with online survey forms, and the data of the study were evaluated using the SPSS package program. Research data were used to determine whether the distribution was normal or not with the Kolmogorov Smirnov Test. As a result of the research, the medical staff working at Batman Iluh State Hospital; When the correlation analyzes between the quality of work life working environment and conditions, services provided, job performance, task performance, contextual performance scores are examined; It was determined that the correlation relationships were not statistically significant

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.     Bu çalışma, teknolojik ve bilimsel yeniliklerin çok ve bu nedenle değişimin ve rekabetçi ortamın fazla olduğu sağlık sektöründe faaliyetlerine devam etmekte olan özel hastanelerin örgüt kültürü ve kurumsal imaj ilişkisinin değerlendirilmesi amacı ile yapılmıştır. Araştırmada kullanılan genel ve güncel ölçeklerin geçerliliği ve güvenirliliği önceden yapılmış çalışmalarda gerçekleştirilmiştir. Ana kütleyi Bursa ilinde faaliyetine devam etmekte olan özel bir hastanenin çalışanları oluşturmuştur. Örneklem ise özel bir hastanenin Nilüfer ilçesinde faaliyet gösteren şubesinin 247 çalışanından oluşmuştur. Çalışanlara anket formları online olarak ulaştırılmış ve alınan veriler SPSS 23.0 veri analiz programında analiz yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemi evreni bilinen örneklem formülü kullanılarak hesaplanmıştır. Araştırmanın sonuçları, örgütsel kültür ile kurumsal imaj arasında anlamlı ilişki olduğunu göstermektedir. Ayrıca araştırmada, katılımcıların örgütsel kültür ile kurumsal imaj boyutlarının bazı demografik ve mesleki değişkenler itibariyle anlamlı farklılık gösterdiği tespit edilmiştir. Örgüt kültürü ve kurumsal imaj arasında pozitif ve anlamlı bir ilişki belirlenmiştir.This study was conducted with the aim of evaluating the relationship between organizational culture and corporate image of private hospitals that continue their activities in the health sector, where there are many technological and scientific innovations and therefore a high change and competitive environment. The validity and reliability of the general and current scales used in the research have been established in previous studies. The main population consists of employees of a private hospital that continues its operations in Bursa. The sample consisted of 247 employees of the branch of a private hospital operating in Nilüfer district. Survey forms were delivered to employees online and the data received was analyzed in the SPSS 23.0 data analysis program. The sample population of the research was calculated using the known sampling formula. The results of the research show that there is a significant relationship between organizational culture and corporate image. In addition, the study found that the organizational culture and corporate image dimensions of the participants showed significant differences in terms of some demographic and professional variables. A positive and significant relationship was determined between organizational culture and corporate image

    Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

    We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods
