No full textÜçüncü Selim devri, gerek siyasi tarih, gerekse yenileşme tarihi bakımından Osmanlı devletinin en önemli dönemlerinden birini teşkil etmektedir. Bu dönemde kaleme alınan Tarih-i Mustafa Necib, 1803-1808 yıllan arasında cereyan eden önemli hadiseler hakkında çok değerli bilgiler içermektedir. Eserde, Osmanlı Devletinin askeri sınıfları arasında en seçkin yere sahip olan Yeniçeri Ocağı ve bu ocağın bozulması üzerinde durulmuştur. Yazarın burada vurguladığı en önemli husus, Yeniçeri Ocağının bozulmasından ziyade, Yeniçerilerin devlete ve gelişmeye karşı bir engel haline gelmeleridir. Sonraki bölümlerde ise Osmanlı devletinin Avrupalı devletlerle ilişkileri ve Avrupa'da cereyan eden siyasi hadiseler hakkında bilgi verilmiştir. Fransız ihtilalinden sonra ortaya çıkan güçler dengesi içerisinde Fransa, İngiltere ve Rusya arasındaki ilişkiler, Fransa'nın Mısır'ı işgali ve doğurduğu sonuçlar, Osmanlı devletinin Fransa ile arasındaki pürüzleri hallederek yakınlaşması sonucunda Rusya ve İngiltere arasında gerginliğin başlaması, 1806'da Rusya'ya ilan-ı harp edilmesi, İngiliz donanmasının İstanbul önlerine gelmesi ve bu olaylar esnasında orduda ve diğer devlet kademelerindeki atamalar hakkında bilgi verilmektedir. Bu arada Osmanlı Devleti aleyhine gelişecek olaylar öncesinde, Rumeli ayanlarının durumu hakkında genel bilgi verilmiştir. Eserin bundan sonraki kısmı Nizam-ı Cedîd düşmanlarının faaliyetleri çerçevesinde yoğunlaşmaktadır. Edirne Vakasından (1806) itibaren Kabakçı İsyanına kadar geçen süre içindeki gelişmeler, ardından Kabakçı İsyanı, IV. Mustafa'nın cülusu ve ilk faaliyetleri ayrıntılı bir şekilde anlatılmaktadır. Kitabın en büyük özelliği, bu karışık ve hızlı gelişmelerin yaşandığı dönemde devlet kademesinde yer alan görevlilere büyük önem vermesidir. Öyle ki, olayları bu devlet adamları ve memuriyetlerini esas alarak anlatmaktadır denilebilir. Bu devlet görevlilerinin hemen hepsi hakkında geniş bilgi vermiş, icraatları ve akıbetleri ayrıntılı olarak işlenmiştir.The reign of Selim III., in the sense of both political and modernization history, is one of the most important periods of the Ottoman Empire. Tarih-i Mustafa Necib, which was written in this period, includes very useful information about the incidents occurred between the 1803-1808. This work deals with the Janissaries, which was the most distinguished military class in the Ottoman Empire and its deterioration. The writer emphasizes here, the Janissaries obstacle to modernization and to the state, more than its deterioration. In the following chapters, the relations of the Ottoman Empire to the other European states and the political developments in Europe were considered. The balance of power relations among France, England and Russia which occurred after the French Revolution, the occupation of Egypt by France and its consequences, after the Ottoman understanding with France, the rise of the tension against Russia and England, declaration of war against Russia in 1806, the appearance of the British navy on the shores of Istanbul, and information about the appointments both in the army and other posts during these incidents were given. Meanwhile, the state of the kümeli Ayans was handled with, before the events, which will occur against the Ottoman Empire. The rest of this work deals with the activities of the enemies of Nizam-i Cedid. The events starting from the Edirne incident (1806) until the revolt of Kabakçı Mustafa, then the revolt of Kabakçı Mustafa, the enthronement of Mustafa IV. and his first actions were described in detail. The peculiarity of this work is the narration of the persons who were in charge of any post during this period, when the events were confused and quickly developing. Thus, it can be said that, the incidents were narrated on the base of these men and their posts. So, detailed information was given about these men, their activities and their fate
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. No full textWe have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
