This is a Microsoft Access database of imagery, drawings, and photos accompanying Excavations at Tall Jawa, Jordan: Volume 3, The Iron Age Pottery by P.M. Michèle Daviau. The text and database present a detailed typology of the Iron Age pottery excavated from 1989 to 1995. Together, they represent an in-depth analysis of the forming techniques employed to make each type of vessel from bowls to colanders, cooking pots to pithoi. The digital archive is a work in progress by the author. The archive currently holds the collection for Excavation Field D. Upon completion, it will include seven collections, each one consisting of a database of diagnostic sherds and vessels as well as the images of these pots as .tiff files. Databases are related to excavation fields and are designed for meaningful searches: A, B, C-east, C-west, A-east (associated with C-west), D and E

TOM MURPHY TO SPEAK AT UGA LAW SCHOOL

Monday, October 11, 1999 Writer: Matt Haney, (706) 542-5172 Contact: Josh Moore, President, Student Bar Association, (706) 613-2513 TOM MURPHY TO SPEAK AT UGA LAW SCHOOL ATHENS, Ga. - Speaker of the Georgia House of Representatives Tom Murphy (D-Bremen) will speak Thursday, October 14, 1999, at the University of Georgia School of Law at 3:30 p.m. in Room K of the law school. A reception will follow at approximately 4:30 p.m. in the law school rotunda. Both events are open free to the public. Speaker Murphy, a 1949 graduate of the UGA law school, will make remarks and respond to questions from the audience. The Speaker\u27s visit is co-sponsored by two law student organizations, the Student Bar Association and the Georgia League. If you\u27re trying to tell the story of modern Georgia history without Tom Murphy, that\u27s like trying to tell the history of Georgia football without Vince Dooley, said SBA President Josh Moore, a former General Assembly aide who is organizing the Speaker\u27s visit. Speaker Murphy is a much more complicated man than you read about in the press. You hear about him being tough, driven and politically astute, but there also is a real sincerity and genuineness that most folks don\u27t get to see. In addition, I hope our law students will appreciate how beneficial a legal education is to a legislator, particularly in developing critical drafting skills. Student organizers hope Murphy\u27s talk will be the first of several this academic year presented by prominent political leaders who are also UGA law alumni. Murphy was first elected to the House of Representatives in 1961 from his home in Haralson County. After serving as both Floor Leader and Speaker Pro Tempore for the House, he was elected Speaker of the House in 1974. Murphy is the nation\u27s longest-serving Speaker currently in office and is the longest serving Speaker in Georgia history
