Reasoning about strategies: On the satisfiability problem
No full textStrategy Logic (SL, for short) has been introduced by Mogavero, Murano, and Vardi as a useful formalism for reasoning explicitly about strategies, as first-order objects, in multi-agent concurrent games. This logic turns out to be very powerful, subsuming all major previously studied modal logics for strategic reasoning, including ATL, ATL⋆ , and the like. Unfortunately, due to its high expressiveness, SL has a non-elementarily decidable model-checking problem and the satisfiability question is undecidable, specifically Σ 1 1-hard.
In order to obtain a decidable sublogic, we introduce and study here One-Goal Strategy Logic (SL[1g], for short). This is a syntactic fragment of SL, strictly subsuming ATL⋆ , which encompasses formulas in prenex normal form having a single temporal goal at a time, for every strategy quantification of agents. We prove that, unlike SL, SL[1g] has the bounded tree-model property and its satisfiability problem is decidable in 2ExpTime, thus not harder than the one for ATL

Attraverso il carteggio che Machiavelli intratteneva con i membri della Cancelleria fiorentina, che si premuravano di mantenere i contatti con la sua famiglia durante le lunghe missioni da lui compiute al servizio del governo, è stato possibile ripercorrere i momenti più salienti della vita di Marietta. In appendice è stata ripubblicata l'unica lettera autografa di cui disponiamo con criteri moderni di edizione correggendo anche alcuni errori di lettura precedenti
Digital transformation at Murano Glass: Challenges and new directions
No full textIn 1949, Giovanni Murano decided to build a business from the art of glass manufacturing, leveraging the knowledge and skills available in the universally known cradle of glassmaking art, Venetian Lagoon, Italy. The company specialised in the production of glass bottles. Over the years, the company expanded and set up global footprints, positioning itself as market leader in medical glass products. The expansion into new regions required the use of advanced digital tools that will monitor performance and improve productivity across numerous dispersed manufacturing sites. It was a sweltering day in July 2019, Giuseppe stood next to the air-conditioning system, just 20 m from the overheated production line. It magnified the intensity of output as he explained the innovative ideas he had for the company: ‘Digital technologies are changing our society and working life and we need to use them to change the way Murano Glass operates and competes’. He described the implementation of an application that enabled remote assistance with augmented reality and a peer-assistance platform to connect employees all over the world. It would unite a geographically dispersed team and streamline connectivity. Despite his enthusiasm for the initiative, however, the budget for digital projects had shrunk and management support was lacking. His ideas for digital transformation were not progressing as he had hoped. Giuseppe wondered what was going wrong in Murano Glass’s digital transformation journey

No full textIn this paper we investigate the model-checking problem of pushdown multi-agent systems for ATL* specifications. To this aim, we introduce pushdown game structures over which ATL∗ formulas are interpreted. We show an algorithm that solves the addressed model-checking problem in 3EXPTIME. We also provide a 2EXPSPACE lower bound by showing a reduction from the word acceptance problem for deterministic Turing machines with doubly exponential space
