_______________ GREENHOUSE TOMATO PRODUCTION STRATEGY, AT TWO LOCATIONS IN THE MIXTECA POBLANA. ABSTRACT: The Tomato production is one of the most profitable agricultural activities in the country, especially when it´s under protected conditions, placed as a viable productive project, to the extent that the Strategic Project for Food Security (SPFS) in conjunction with SAGARPA has established it in areas of high and very high marginalization in order to generate income and this provide food security to those areas. The aim of this study was to analyze, describe and compare tomato crop production systems at two locations in the Mixteca Baja Poblana under greenhouse condition to know the logic of production, the role of the family, sale analysis and factors determining the permanence of the production system since its inception in 2009 up to now. The results indicated that the greenhouses have similar structural characteristics because they were obtained under the same governmental program at both locations, families are the main labor force in agricultural work carried out in the production unit, the sale of the product is mainly in local markets and community residents. The average yields on a homogenized surface of 330 m2 were from 3 to 5 tons. 73% of the producers use more than 50 kg of the crop obtained for consumption. The Productivity and performance are not related regarding the time dedicated for the family farming in the greenhouse. Finally, taking the beneficiaries as central element of the productive project , were identified the main components that make up a strategy for agricultural development in the study area, which were: producer organization, adequate marketing under a market study, adequate production funding , growing tomatoes adaptation technologies and crop diversification.Tesis (Maestría en Ciencias, especialista en Estrategias para el Desarrollo Agrícola Regional).- Colegio de Postgraduados, 2012.Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología ( CONACYT). Objective. The objective of this research was to analyze the financial and economic profitability of tomato production units (PJU) under greenhouse technology in the main producing municipalities in Puebla, Mexico. Methodology. The indicator benefit-cost ratio (B/C) was used to obtain both financial and economic profitability. The data was gathered through structured questionnaire to a statistical sample of tomato growers. Profitability was estimated for three levels of technology use. For economic profitability, the shadow prices of labor, water and electricity were estimated. Results. The results of the B/C ratio in financial profitability were 1.14 for UPJ with low technological level, 1.30 for medium level and 2.31 for high level, while economic profitability was 1.04 for low-level PJU, 1.18 for those with medium levels and 2.16 for those with a high level. Technology level is highly correlated with profitability. Limitations. The main one was that a couple of municipalities were discarded due to problems of insecurity. Conclusions. Greenhpouse production units are profitable, both for investors and for society. Since profitability is correlated with technological level, it is important that government agencies provide support in the transfer of knowledge to improve the technological level.

The use of technological innovations in greenhouse vegetable growing translates into high yields to the producers. This study analyzes the innovation adoption index (InAI) in tomato production units (TPUs) under greenhouses in the municipalities of Aquixtla, Tetela de Ocampo, Tecamachalco and Tochtepec, state of Puebla and its relationship with the crop’s yield, in addition to understanding the stakeholders implicit in the dissemination of innovations through a social networks analysis. Interviews (103) were applied to producers in the second semester of 2017, using a structured questionnaire. A global InAI of 36% was obtained, highlighting the components of health and nutrition that showed an InAI of 57%. The social networks analysis showed that learning about innovations is done primarily between producers despite not having a formal organization. Private technical assistance is responsible for technology transfer in the TPUs, which is why it is important for decision makers and particularly for producers, by generating formal communication channels that allow exchanging experiences and fostering learning as a whole, with the aim of increasing the InAI and consequently improving the yield of TPUs in the state.

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods

We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
