Diplomska naloga obravnava področja odvodnjavanja prometnih površin, hidrotehnike in hidravlike. Za dimenzioniranje predvidenega meteornega kanalizacijskega sistema je uporabljeno programsko orodje »Urbano Canalis«.The thesis deals with the fields of traffic surface drainage, hydraulic engineering and hydraulics. The current problem from practice is presented, namely the hydraulic designing of the planned storm water sewage system and elements for surface drainage of the road in the area of the planned regional road R2-403, section Podrošt– - Češnjica. The mentioned road and the storm water sewage system are planned as part of the project »Flood regulation of Selška Sora II. phase«, where several individual buildings are planned, which are part of other plans, such as a high-water barrier, a bridge and supporting and retaining walls. The diploma includes designing of drainage elements such as gullies, ditches, gutters and canal pipes. To design the planned meteoric sewage system was used the software tool »Urbano Canalis«

Despite being the type species, very little is known about this species, including its original description being particularly brief, and has not been studied recently (see Gorochov, 2007 [2006], 2008). This species is very similar to <i>Munda fasciata</i> (Haan, 1844) from Java (sensu Gorochov, 2007 [2006]), including the colouration of the head and the FIIIs external surface with a dark longitudinal band; but differs distinctly by the colour patterns of the pronotum and the FWs without multiple white spots. Our male specimen also has genitalia similar to <i>Munda certa</i> Gorochov, 2007 and <i>Munda pulchella</i> Gorochov, 2007 from Sumbawa (Indonesia), but differs by the FWs without having a large yellow spot basally and multiple white-yellow spots along the length, respectively. As we are not able to examine the male holotype of <i>Munda picturata</i>, we keep the identity of our specimen tentative. Once the identification can be confirmed, we can proceed to describe or redescribe <i>M. picturata</i> in the future.</p>Published as part of <i>Tan, Ming Kai, Salvador, Jewel Anne G., Sabang, Aira Mae M., Bahoy, Daphne Cayle M., Nuñeza, Olga Macas & Robillard, Tony, 2023, Taxonomy and bioacoustics of little-known Grylloidea crickets (Orthoptera, Ensifera) from Mindanao, Philippines, pp. 301-348 in Zootaxa 5323 (3)</i> on page 333, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.5323.3.1, <a href="http://zenodo.org/record/8209415">http://zenodo.org/record/8209415</a&gt

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    No full text
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

A case study where dual-polarization was essential for correct interpretation of GPR results

The 19th century restoration works of the Basilica of Sant'Andrea in Mantua consisted of important modifications of pronaos and facade. According to historical documents, the use of metal reinforcements was planned to tie the facade with the counter-facade but designs and details are missing and since no external evidences of the tie-rods can be observed, the existence of these reinforcements was a fundamental open issue. The problem has been recently addressed with a GPR survey. Some tie-rods have been confirmed. The location of some of them has been problematic because of plaster decorations that reduced the survey area to narrow corridors. The dual-polarization was a benefit because some reinforcements, oriented parallel to the survey corridor, were detected only by the parallel-broadside polarization. In addition, for the exact location of these elements, 3D migration was needed because the reflection was generated out-of-plane. Some other unexpected reinforcements were also detected within the counter-facade wall. The complex geometry of these reinforcements was finally understood by composing the results of GPR investigations on orthogonal faces of the counter-facade. However, a tricky question arose on one side of the wall where an unexpected anomaly in GPR response seemed to reveal the presence of an additional set of metal bars. Again the dual-polarization was essential to exclude this misinterpretation and to understand the real origin of these unexpected signals

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods
