La actitud en dandy es, precisamente, la que dará sentido a la vida de muchas mujeres que durante los años diez y veinte del pasado siglo XX se auto declararon “artistas de la modernidad”. Esté libro indaga la vida hecha obra, o viceversa, de la Baronesa Elsa, de Djuna Barnes, Florine Stettheimer y Romaine Brooks.     Hubungan Antara Grit dengan Hope pada Siswa SMK Negeri 6 Surakarta

    This quantitative study aims to examine the relationship between grit and hope among students at State Vocational School 6 Surakarta. Sampling was conducted using a purposive sampling method, involving 232 eleventh-grade students as participants. The dependent variable, hope, was measured using an adaptation of the Adult Hope Scale, while the independent variable, grit, was measured using the Short Grit Scale (Grit-S). Hypothesis testing was performed using the Pearson product-moment correlation method. The results showed a significant correlation, indicating a positive relationship between grit and hope. This suggests that higher levels of grit are associated with higher levels of hope among students, and vice versa. However, the strength of this relationship is classified as moderate. Additional analysis revealed a significant difference in the average hope scores between students in the accounting major and those in the Film Production major. While this study contributes to the growing body of literature on hope and grit among vocational high school students, several research limitations need to be taken into consideration

    Privacy-Preserving Data Aggregation with Probabilistic Range Validation

    Privacy-preserving data aggregation protocols have been researched widely, but usually cannot guarantee correctness of the aggregate if users are malicious. These protocols can be extended with zero-knowledge proofs and commitments to work in the malicious model, but this incurs a significant computational cost on the end users, making adoption of such protocols less likely.We propose a privacy-preserving data aggregation protocol for calculating the sum of user inputs. Our protocol gives the aggregator confidence that all inputs are within a desired range. Instead of zero-knowledge proofs, our protocol relies on an asynchronous probabilistic hypergraph-based detection algorithm with which the aggregator can quickly pinpoint malicious users. Our protocol is robust to user dropouts and is non-interactive apart from the registration phase. We describe several optional extensions to our protocol for temporal aggregation, dynamic user joins and leaves, and differential privacy. We analyse our protocol in terms of security, privacy, and detection rate. Finally, we compare the runtime complexity of our protocol with a selection of related protocols

    Physical Modelling of 3D-Printed Artificial Reefs with Complex Shapes in the Wave Flume

    Coral reefs are considered to be a crucial ecosystem and form of natural coastal protection. They owe their effectiveness to their high structural complexity. This complexity, which positively influences aspects like species richness, coral recovery, live coral cover, and coastal protection, is often quantified using parameters such as porosity and rugosity as has been done in this thesis. However, coral reefs are currently facing decline due to both natural processes and human activities. To address this issue, artificial reefs (ARs) have been proposed as a potential solution. Coastruction, a start-up specializing in 3D printing, has developed a 3D printer capable of creating artificial reefs in any shape. In this thesis, biomimicry-inspired complex ARs were designed and printed to examine the impact of structural complexity on wave attenuation.Data was collected through physical model tests in a wave flume at Deltares, using Froude scaling with a length scale of nL=4. The experiments involved 1 to 2-meter-long reefs composed of three distinct structures with different geometrical complexity levels: design 1 (medium complexity), design 2 (maximum complexity), and cubes (low complexity). These structures were tested under similar, primarily non-breaking wave conditions. The aim was to determine if the dissipation observed resulted from friction rather than wave breaking.The results of the conducted experiments showed that structural complexity does not significantly affect wave transmission. Overall, high transmission coefficient were observed across the different structures, ranging from 0.96-0.99. Additionally, no significant differences in dissipation were found among the three structure types, with dissipation ranging from 5.5% to 13.5% of the incoming wave energy. However, increased reef coverage positively impacts transmission reduction and spectral wave dissipation, exhibiting a linear decrease in transmission coefficients and a simultaneous increase in dissipation.In summary, the various artificial reefs examined in this study demonstrated minimal effectiveness in wave attenuation, with negligible differences among reefs featuring different degrees of structural complexity. Despite the similar wave attenuation effects, the environmental benefits of a highly structurally complex reef suggest that it should be considered a viable solution.Civil Engineering | Hydraulic Engineering | Coastal Engineerin

    Utilisation of Heat Released During the Production of Green Hydrogen Using Alkaline Electrolysis

    To reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to limit global warming, fossil fuel based energy technologies need to be replaced by clean energy technologies. Renewable energy sources are dependent on weather conditions therefore security of energy supply is not ensured and the need for energy storage is growing. Hydrogen is considered a clean energy carrier that can be used for energy storage. Water electrolysis that uses renewable energy is a sustainable method for the production of green hydrogen. Water electrolysis is a process by which water is split into hydrogen and oxygen by using direct current to drive the reaction. During the production of green hydrogen heat is released to the environment. Little research has been conducted on the amount of heat released during green hydrogen production and on the temperature of the released heat. It is unclear if the released heat could be used. This research serves to answer the question "Is it possible to use the heat released during the production of green hydrogen using alkaline water electrolysis?". To answer this question a model has been developed in ASPEN Plus. This model represents an alkaline electrolyser, consisting of an electrochemical model, a thermal model and a cooling system. To validate the output of the model, the hydrogen production output has been compared with an alkaline electrolyser developed by the company Nel hydrogen. The thermal efficiency of the model has been calculated with and without using the waste heat. To use the waste heat the system first needs to be cooled. To determine which heat exchanger is best to use for recovering the heat of the alkaline electrolyser, three different designs have been implemented in the ASPEN model. The designs have been analyzed and the best option is implemented in the model. The amount of heat that can be recovered has been investigated as well as the options for the use of the recovered heat.     A study of the Amish dress, supplimented [sic] with a slide series

    After living in a community of Amish and non-Amish people, the author saw a need to seek out answers to why the dress of the plain people was unique. The author sought answers to why the Amish did not conform to the fashions worn by others in the area, and why the clothing was constantly the same color, fabric, cut and utilized the same fasteners. The reasons for the Amish not accepting many changes because of the development of new technology were observed. The main purpose of this creative project was to help the non-Amish individual to better understand the reasons behind the Amish people's lifestyle, and their clothing selection. The second purpose was to become aware of their clothing construction methods. When an Amish family is in need of help in any manner, aid is always provided by fellow members of the Amish community. They dress in identical garments generation after generation. The Amish may not own cars, install electricity or use motor powered equipment. The author reviewed printed literature available about the Amish and she observed clothing, fabric, and notions in stores that serve the Amish individuals in Jay and Adams Counties in Indiana. The author sought permission to do the slide series from the Amish through a friend that is associated and approved by the Amish people. By interviewing the Amish families information was obtained about clothing that is not found in published literature. The author interviewed the Amish families to obtain information concerning clothing before she took the slides. This allowed time for ascertaining additional questions to improve the script concerning clothing. A photographer, ,who farms with Amish individuals, was selected to help create a more relaxed atmosphere so the Amish would more likely furnish as much information as possible when direct questions were asked. The result of the Creative Project is a pictorial presentation which enables tie author to present to non-Amish individuals in her classes at Jay County High School the rationale for the lifestyles of the Amish people, their apparel selection, and their clothing construction methods.
