影响慈育大学中文系1-4年级学生的口语能力的隐因素分析
No full textThis research was conducted to determine the condition and to know how much the influence from any basic knowledge and skills to the Mandarin speaking ability of Bunda Mulia University’s students majoring at Chinese Languange Department from 1st to 4th grades. During the process of collecting data and information, the author has interviewed 137 respondents who are active as students at Bunda Mulia University. Besides asking a variety of information related to this essay, the author also required their examscoresto be further processed by using SPSS-linear regression. Thus, the results can be obtained about correlation between each subject with the speaking subject itself. These results showed that most of the subjects had a significant effect on the ability of students’ speaking. Therefore, the author hopes that in the future students and the faculties may work together, especially in improving the Mandarin speaking skill through any existing curriculum in Chinese Language Department of Bunda Mulia University

In this way, Chinese has become popular and valued for all countries. There are more and more people learning Chinese, including Indonesia. The first thing to learn a language is to "listen" and "speak". For Indonesian students, Chinese is difficult because of the huge differences between mother tongue and Chinese. It will be difficult in listening and speaking for students who have a weak basic. This will make students lose their interest in learning chinese. However, learning interest is one of the indispensable parts of the learning process. Therefore, the author regards this as a research topic. This research uses the questionnaire survey method to investigate the students of Grades 2-4 of the Chinese Department of Bunda Mulia University. The result indicates that students have normal level at listening and speaking lessons. Personal influence, college environments, study materials, and teacher's skill are major influence for students
Analysis of Indonesian Students' Mastery in Business Communication Eufemism (Case Study on Students of the Business Chinese Language Study Program of Bunda Mulia University)
No full textEuphemism is a common language phenomenon, and its application in business communication is to enhance the results of negotiations. Therefore, the application of euphemism in business communication is necessary in business negotiations. This research analyzed the A and B syllabus of the "Business Chinese Test (BCT)", based on the questionnaires of third and fourth year students in the Chinese for Business specialization of Mandarin Study Program of Bunda Mulia University, and analyzed the degree of mastery of business euphemisms among Indonesian university students, identify the types of errors and their causes. The research subjects of this study are third and fourth year students in the Business Chinese Study Program of Bunda Mulia University. The research type is a mixed research method. The results obtained from the questionnaire show that compared with the vocabulary category, students have a better grasp of the sentence category. Through the interview results, it can be concluded that the reasons for student’s mistakes in terms of vocabulary and sentence patterns are as follows: first, interference of mother tongue, that is, students unconsciously use their mother tongue to translate and then understanding the meaning of the vocabulary; second, the lack of knowledge of the target language, students simply superpose a vocabulary to understand other vocabulary; third, negative transfer of cultural factors, students use their mother tongue culture to make judgments; fourth, the impact of the learning environment, students lack more rigorous explanations or guidance, and unable to understand or use vocabulary. The reasons for sentence errors include: first, lack of pragmatic awareness, students are not sensitive to sentences with pragmatic functions; second, insufficient language ability, students have insufficient language skills, and some students are unable to correctly understand or use euphemistic expressions; third, is a lack of deep understanding of Chinese culture, because students do not know much about Chinese culture, they will communicate based on the habits of their own country. Finally, the author puts forward some suggestions for learners and teachers, hoping to provide some reference for readers

No full textThis community service activity was conducted in order to ensure that younger and future generations finally have several insights regarding the importance of determining and setting the career path that they want to achieve in the future from the present time in order to ensure that they won’t get lost in determining what they really want to do during the course of their life. It is mainly because most people, particularly those who are from the younger generations, tend to not have a specific and clear intention of what they want to do, or what they want to achieve in their life, in which, they tend to just follow through with their life without having any clear intentions of what they really want to achieve in their life. Therefore, it is important for the younger generations to fully understand the importance and the crucial aspect of understanding their passion, their interest, or their affection toward certain field that they wish to do, in which, such passion could eventually and potentially become their career which they could develop for the entirety of their life. This community service was conducted virtually through Google Meet because of the current COVID-19 pandemic which hamper the possibility that this community service activity was conducted physically to the participants. Meanwhile, a total of 27 participants who participated in this community service session are senior high school students from Bunda Mulia Senior High School. Furthermore, regarding the completion of this activity, author was hopeful that all participants could finally understand the importance of setting their own objectives and career path that they want to pursue in their life in order to prevent them from experiencing much confusion regarding what kind of job or what they want to do during the entirety of their life

No full textThe teaching objectives of the second language are learners can master and use it, which means this can realize languages’ basic and primary function－communication, Consequently, spoken language teaching plays a significant role in learning the second language. Now, in Bunda Mulia University, there are some problems in the aspect of oral Chinese teaching. Some of students in primary phase who can obtain a high score in paper test, surprisingly dare not to open their mouth in the oral test, which indicates oral expression abilities of Bunda Mulia University’s Chinese language learners remains to be dramatically improved. The author tries to choose the rehearsal teaching method to solve that problem for improving the freshmen’s oral performance. The thesis is based on experiment and survey, which objects are two classes grade one students from Chinese Language Department of Bunda Mulia University. Every class 20 students and the experiment will last 12 weeks. Data collection tools include pre-test and post-test, interviewing and questionnaire, then do the data statistics and analysis after the whole experiment finished. Through pre-test and post-test, interviewing and questionnaire, the study validates if the rehearsal teaching method makes these students a progress in oral expression abilities. The study finds out these freshmen of Chinese Language Department of Bunda Mulia University can not own a good oral Chinese ability before applying rehearsal teaching method, however, they do a better performance after this experiment implemented. In conclusion, study has shown that rehearsal teaching method do a certain extent help in improving students' oral Chinese ability and language ability

No full textSlingshot is one of may traditional games. Traditional games are recreational activities that have certain rules as a reflection of the nation. In this case, the catapult is one of the traditional games that has the potenial to show its cultural authenticity. than one of the media that is considered capable of sharing information about this catapult is a short film. In this design, the author uses qualitative method with techniques to collect data through field observation, questionnaires, literature studies and interviews. The author made a direct visit to the place where the catapult was made. Questionnaires were distributed to 158 people online on social media and the library funcioned to find data that could support the topic of the problems raised. In this study, the results of 158 questionnaires distributed stated that almost all respondents did not know how to play and make a slingshot. However, through the questionnaire it was also found that the community still has a high interest in catapults. So to solve the problem, the author make a short film telling about catapults that lead to teenagers and the community.The conclusion of this design is to provide information and direction to teenagers 17-25 years old to be able to learn to understand, love and preserve the traditional game of slingshot

No full textThe design of this thesis aims to attract the reading interest of the Indonesian millennial generation to Indonesian old literature with light novel, The title is Sitti Nurbaya, adapted from the work of Marah Rusli with a similar title. It tells about Sitti Nurbaya's classic love story with forced marriage problems and other values in it.The research method used is a qualitative descriptive approach by collecting data from observations, literature studies and interviews.In this study, the authors obtained the results of a questionnaire distributed to 100 respondents who argued that the old Indonesian literature would be more interesting if added with illustrations because being able to build a new world of imagination created by stories and illustrations, unfortunately still rarely found illustrated novel books that lift old Indonesian literary works so that the old Indonesian literary works lacked the attention of the millennial generation. In this questionnaire, the author found that the genre of books that are of interest to the millennial generation is romance.To make this light novel take more time and effort starting from data collection, design process to production process. This also needs many attention to each design and illustration rule in order to attract readers. Through this design, it is expected to increase the appreciation of the millennial generation for Indonesia's old literary works

Post Editing: Suggestions for Translation Courses Sub-Content
No full textThe practice of post-editing has become so common these days with to the introduction of Machine Translation (MT). Because of that, the author believes post-editing should be included in all types of translation activities. Subsequently, in the teaching of translation, post editing should be considered as one of the course to be taught. In translation teaching, however, especially in Indonesia, post-editing has not yet been discussed specifically. Most post-editing activities in the classroom in Indonesia is not taught specifically as one of the courses as a part of a minor. Rather, they are integrated as a sub-course of a particular course, such as literary translation. In this research, I would like to propose several inputs which can be considered when teaching post- editing as a part of a bigger course. This research is conducted by reflecting on the actual process of post-editing conducted by the researcher when translating a text. It is expected that the result of the research is to be used by translation trainers, teachers, and practitioners in training their students.Keywords: Post-editing, translation course, sub-cours
