Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Pembelajaran Literasi Membaca di Pondok Pesantren Sidogiri Kraton Pasuruan
Era teknologi dan informasi mengharuskan penghuninya untuk meningkatkan kompetensi dan daya saing, pada era tersebut persaingan di segala bidang tak terelakkan dan manusia membutuhkan ketelitian, keteguhan, amanah, tanggung jawab dan berani menghadapi risiko dari berbagai tindakan dan profesi yang menjadi pilihan, peningkatan kompetensi tersebut salah satunya harus dilakukan melalui pengembangan literasi. Realitas mayoritas lulusan pesantren masih banyak yang belum mencapai kompetensi minimal pada ranah kognitif , afektif dan psikomotorik. Hal ini bisa ditelusuri banyaknya lulusan pesantren yang masih belum sepenuhnya menguasai baca kitab, memahami dan menuntaskan materi minimal. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan regulasi dan implementasi pembelajaran literasi membaca di pondok pesantren. Jenis penelitian menggunakan field research, dengan paradigma fenomenologi yang mengambil kasus dua pesantren di Jawa Timur yaitu pesantren Sidogiri . Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan dept interview, observasi partisipan dan dokumentasi. Dengan uji keabahan data trianggulasi, uji kredibilatas dan perpanjangan keterlibatan, dependabilitas, konfirmabilitas dan transferabilitas data. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa Regulasi pembelajaran literasi membaca di pondok pesantren Sidogiri direncanakan berdasarkan musyarawarah pengurus dengan nama jam belajar dan musyawarah yang kemudian dikonsultasikan kepada pengasuh untuk mendapatkan persetujuan untuk dilaksnakan dan implemenasinya berupa kegiatan jam belajar, musyawarah dan belajar mandiri
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more

Pengembangan mutu pendidikan pesantren: Studi multisitus di Pondok Pesantren Sidogiri Kraton Pasuruan dan Pondok Pesantren Nurul Jadid Paiton Probolinggo Jawa Timur

Pesantren salah satu lembaga pendidikan Islam yang memiliki karakteristik untuk memperdalam ilmu agama dengan sistem pondok di bawah bimbingan langsung kyai. Dalam perkembangan lembaga pendidikan pesantren telah mengalami perubahan yang beragam(salaf dan khalaf), dalam menerapkan tuntutan pengembangan mutu pendidikan. Usaha peningkatan mutu pendidikan pesantren memunculkan tuntutan untuk terus melakukan pembenahan secara substansial yang ada relevansinya dengan perubahan paradigma, norma, nilai-nilai dan kebutuhan masyarakat. Tujuan Penelitian ini menemukan: 1) konsep pengembangan mutu di Pondok Pesantren Sidogiri Kraton Pasuruan dan Pondok Pesantren Nurul Jadid Karang Anyar Paiton Probolinggo; 2) proses pengembangan mutu di Pondok Pesantren Sidogiri Kraton Pasuruan dan Pondok Pesantren Nurul Jadid Karang Anyar Paiton Probolinggo; dan 3) dampak pengembangan mutu di Pondok Pesantren Sidogiri Kraton Pasuruan dan Pondok Pesantren Nurul Jadid Karang Anyar Paiton Probolinggo.
Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, jenis studi kasus dengan rancangan multisitus. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipan dan studi dokumentasi. Data yang telah terkumpul ditafsirkan dan dianalisis menggunakan proses reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Keabsahan data dicek dengan uji kredibilitas melalui perpanjangan masa keterlibatan dan observasi; trianggulasi; member check, dan melakukan pemeriksaan sejawat, dipendabilitas, komfirmabilitas, dan transferabilitas.
Hasil penelitian ini adalah: (1) konsep pengembangan mutu pendidikan pesantren merupakan: a) integrasi visi misi pendidikan pesantren, pendidikan tafaqquh fii al-diini, da’wah bi al-hal, pendidikan Islam yang diintegrasikan (salaf-khalaf); b) bersumber pada ajaran nilai-nilai Islam (al-Qur’an dan al-Hadist), dan c) prinsip menggunakan kaidah mempertahankan originalitas budaya pesantren dan menerima budaya baru yang lebih baik (المُحَافَظَةُ عَلَى القَدِيْمِ الصَّالِحِ وَالأَخْذُ بِالجَدِيْدِ الأَصْلَحِ) (2) proses pengembangan mutu pendidikan pesantren dilakukan dengan: a) Plan (P) perencanaan melalui analisis kebutuhan pengembangan mutu pendidikan pesantren terintegrasi dengan visi misi pesantren, hasil musyawarah dan fatwa kyai; b) Forecasting (F) istikharah sebagai penetapan rencana melalui konsultasi dengan Allah; c) Do (D) pelaksanaan melalui pembentukan lembaga penjaminan mutu pesantren, penerapan kebijakan mutu pesantren dan standar mutu pesantren; d) Check (C) melalui audit, monitoring dan evaluasi; e) Action (A) tindak lanjut merefleksikan semua siklus dengan implementasi program yang baru, dan f) Development (D) pengembangan melalui pembentukan lembaga baru sebagai pendukung pengembangan mutu pendidikan pesantren. (3). Dampak pengembangan mutu pendidikan pesantren berpengaruh pada : a) internal pesantren ditandai dengan: meningkatnya mutu lulusan; meningkatnya mutu sumber daya pesantren; menguatnya peran institusi; budaya mutu; peran alumni di masyarakat; program pendidikan efektif dan efisien. b) eksternal pesantren dibuktikan dengan: bertambahnya santri baru, meningkatnya kepercayaan mitra pesantren, banyaknya peneliti pesantren, dan banyaknya studi banding ke pesantren (pesantren Sidogiri dan pesantren Nurul Jadid).
Dengan demikian, maka penelitian ini menemukan PengembanganMutu Pendidikan dengan Kerangka Model Siklus Transendental Islami.

Pesantren is one of islamic educational institution whose characteristic is to expand religious science through boarding school system which is directly guided by kyai. In its development, educational institution of pesantren has changed (from salaf to khalaf) in order to respond to the demand of quality improvement of education. The Effort to improve quality of education in pesantren leads to the demand to continue making improvement which is substantially relevant to the shift of paradigm, norm, value and the need of society. The aim of this research is to find out: 1) the concept of quality improvement in Pond ok Pesantren Sidogiri Kraton, Pasuruan and Pondok Pesantren Nurul Jadid Karang Anyar Paiton, Probolinggo; 2) the process of quality improvement in Pondok Pesantren Sidogiri Kraton, Pasuruan and Pondok Pesantren Nurul Jadid Karang Anyar Paiton, Probolinggo; and 3) the effect of quality improvement in Pondok Pesantren Sidogiri Kraton, Pasuruan and Pondok Pesantren Nurul Jadid Karang Anyar Paiton, Probolinggo.
The design used in this research is multisite case study which is categorized into qualitative approach. The techniques used to collect the data are in–depth interview, participant observation and document review. The data obtained are analyzed and presented using data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing. Credibility through the extension of participation and observation; triangulation; member check, depenability, confirmability, and transferability are used to ensure the validity of data.
The results of this study are: (1) the concept of quality improvement of education in pesantren is: a) the integration of Pesantren’s vision and mission, education of tafaqquh fii al diini, da’wah bi al-hal, integrated islamic education (salaf-khalaf); b) holding to the Islamic values (al-Qur’an and al-Hadist), and c) implementing the principle of maintaining the authenticity of culture in pesantren and accept new better culture (لمُحَافَظَةُ عَلَى القَدِيْمِ الصَّالِحِ وَالأَخْذُ بِالجَدِيْدِ الأَصْلَحِ) (2) the process of quality improvement of education in pesantren is implemented through: a) Plan (P) planning using the needs analysis of quality improvement of education in pesantren which is integrated with vision and mission of pesantren, discussion and kyai’s advices; b) Forecasting (F) using istikharah to determine the plan by consulting the God; c) Do (D) doing by building quality assurance institute, implementing policy of quality and standard quality of pesantren; d) Check (C) checking by using audit, monitoring and evaluation; e) Action (A) doing a follow-up to reflect all cycles by implementing the new program, and f) Development (D) developing through building a new institution to support the development of the quality of education in pesantren. (3) the effect of quality improvement of education in pesantren affects: a) internal pesantren marked by improvement of graduate quality; improvement of pesantren resources; the role of institution is getting stronger; quality culture; contribution of alumni in society; education program is effective and efficient. b) external pesantren proved by : a raise in quantity of new students, improvement of the partners’ confidence to pesantren, a raise in quantity of researchers in pesantren, and an increase in quantity of comparative study to pesantren (Pesantren Sidogiri and Pesantren Nurul Jadid).
Therefore, this research finds Quality Improvement of Education through the Framework of Islamic Transcendental Cycle Model.

هذا البحث مستعمل تقرب المعبري, نوع الدراسة الواقعية على شكل دراسة البحوث العلمية الوجهين. طريقة إجماع الدفتر باستعمال الحوار العميق, تحقيق المدافعين والدراسة الصوارية الأرسفية, الدفتر المجموعة يفسر ويحقق ويحلل ويباحث باستعمال الدفتر وأخذ الإستنباط, وتصحيح الدفتر يطابق بوسيلة مناسبة (Credibility) بتطويل الأزمانية الواقعية والبحوث المثلية, أعضاء الملاحظة والتطبقية وعملية التفتسية على الزملإ والأصحاب ومعالق الدفتر (Dependability)ووفاقية (confirmability) وَ مَسْكُوَّة او مراسلة (Transferability).

We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
