This article aims to explore Syed Hasan Ali Nadwi’s views on the decline of civilization and the notion of Islamic worldview. First, the author describes about Syed Hasan Ali Nadwi’s life in a short bio. Second, the author explores Syed Hasan Ali Nadwi’s views and thoughts about the essence beyond the civilizations, its glory and decadence. Then I will elaborate Syed Hasan Ali Nadwi’s point of view about the worldview of Islam, what are the substances of an Islamic worldview and how far the worldview could bring civilizations to certain glories and decadence. My point of view on this article is the stronger worldview that Muslims have, the stronger civilization Muslims could establish. It all depend on how Muslims face the crisis of knowledge and the loss of adab by the right ‘knowledge’, right ‘choice’, and right ‘action.â€
Estimating Passenger Car Equivalent Factors for Heterogeneous Traffic Using Occupancy-Density Linear Regression Model
A variety of methods have been proposed in the existing literature for the estimation of passenger car equivalent (PCE) factors. These methods are based on the comparison of selected attributes of different vehicles. This research, for the first time, utilizes the basic notion of the linear relationship between road area occupancy and density for the estimation of PCE factors for different vehicle types in heterogeneous traffic. Aerial photographs obtained from an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) were analyzed to estimate the road area occupancy and the number of vehicles classified in seven selected groups. A linear least-squares regression model was developed between road area occupancy and classified vehicle count. The coefficients of the occupancy-density linear regression model were used to estimate PCE and motorcycle equivalent (MCE) factors. The comparison of the estimated set of PCE values with the values reported in the literature shows that PCE factors estimated using the proposed method are reasonable and produce a better occupancy-density relationship than the other studies. In comparison with the existing methods that rely on lane-based measurements, the proposed method is well suited for traffic with weak/no lane discipline, as it considers the entire road width and the dynamics of lateral movement of different types of vehicles. The proposed method does not need extensive traffic data of speeds, headways, flow rates, and so forth, and is applicable on aerial photographs obtained from other sources, such as satellites.Funding

Stability of markovian jump generalized neural networks with interval time-varying delays
This paper examines the problem of asymptotic stability for Markovian jump generalized neural networks with interval time-varying delays. Markovian jump parameters are modeled as a continuous-time and finite-state Markov chain. By constructing a suitable Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional (LKF) and using the linear matrix inequality (LMI) formulation, new delay-dependent stability conditions are established to ascertain the mean-square asymptotic stability result of the equilibrium point. The reciprocally convex combination technique, Jensen's inequality, and the Wirtinger-based double integral inequality are used to handle single and double integral terms in the time derivative of the LKF. The developed results are represented by the LMI. The effectiveness and advantages of the new design method are explained using five numerical examples

Estimation of Value of Time for a Congested Network – A Case Study of the National Highway, Karachi
AbstractTraffic congestion in mega cities is a common phenomenon for developing countries. Numerous studies on congestion cost estimation, that aim to quantify their monetary losses, have been conducted. Value of Time (VOT) assessment through utility maximizing theory and choice models are abundantly applied in transport literature. However, estimating VOT on congested network is not widely applied yet. To recognize the difference under normal and congested network, the current study focuses on VOT estimation for work trips in an extremely congested network.The focus of this research is to conduct a VOT estimation of the National Highway, Karachi. It connects Karachi city with Port Qasim Industrial area and the rest of the country. A large amount of freight transport to and from the port is also observed on this road. The National highway, being the only link to commute to this industrial area, is therefore under excessive traffic congestion.A stated preference (SP) survey was conducted at various industries located in this stretch. The respondents were asked about current travel practices and their (stated) preferences based on hypothetical -though realistic- travel attributes. A choice set of four alternative modes based on the currently used mode was presented to each individual. A Multinomial Logistics Regression (MNL) Model was developed for data analysis.As perceived, the results revealed a strong impact of travel time and travel cost on the (dis)utility of travel. These results can be utilized by policy makers to reduce congestion, monetary and time losses through efficient transport planning

Remote symptom monitoring integrated into electronic health records: A systematic review
ObjectivePeople with long-term conditions (LTCs) require serial clinical assessments. Digital patient-reported symptoms collected between visits can inform these, especially if integrated into electronic health records (EHRs) and clinical workflows. This systematic review identified and summarized EHR-integrated systems to remotely collect patient-reported symptoms and examined their anticipated and realized benefits in LTCs.Materials and MethodsWe searched Medline, Web of Science, and Embase. Inclusion criteria were symptom reporting systems in adults with LTCs; data integrated into the EHR; data collection outside of clinic; data used in clinical care. We synthesized data thematically. Benefits were assessed against a list of outcome indicators. We critically appraised studies using the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool.ResultsWe included 12 studies representing 10 systems. Seven were in oncology. Systems were technically and functionally heterogeneous, with the majority being fully integrated (data viewable in the EHR). Half of the systems enabled regular symptom tracking between visits. We identified three symptom report-guided clinical workflows: Consultation-only (data used during consultation, n=5), alert-based (real-time alerts for providers, n=4) and patient-initiated visits (n=1). Few author-described anticipated benefits, primarily to improve communication and resultant health outcomes, were realized based on the study results, and only supported by evidence from early stage qualitative studies. Studies were primarily feasibility and pilot studies of acceptable quality.Discussion and ConclusionsEHR-integrated remote symptom monitoring is possible, but there are few published efforts to inform development of these systems. Currently there is limited evidence that this improves care and outcomes, warranting future robust, quantitative studies of efficacy and effectiveness
