ANALYSIS OF MARKET SPACE: A PLANNING PANACEA FOR ACHIEVING SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN SAMINAKA MARKET, KADUNA STATE, NIGERIA
Abstract: Market is a centre of various commercial and economic activities, it provides the means for exchange of goods and services thru buying and selling. It’s a key incubation point for micro, small, and medium enterprises; hence effective space use is a key ingredient in ensuring efficient operation of enterprises that operate therein. This creates decent jobs and economic growth vital for achieving the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) eight. Therefore, the objective of the study is to analyse the market space thru reviewing the concepts, principles, and space standards of markets; and to identify the physical planning problems associated with the market and to prepare a planning proposal and recommendation to enhance efficiency. A total of 338 questionnaires were administered to the respondents who were users of the market; of which 256 representing 76% were retrieved. Structured interview was also conducted with market leaders to complement the data acquired by questionnaire. Secondary data were used like the google earth image and administrative map of Saminaka market, which were used for spatial analysis in GIS. The results revealed that the market was congested and in deplorable condition with dilapidated stalls, open refuse dumping sites, encroachments into circulations and roads, poor toilet facilities and so on. More than 50%, about 4.27 Ha out of 8.4, of the market is vacant, which has not been utilised Therefore, recommendations via alternative concept proposal A, B, and C were further examined. Where each concept proposed rehabilitation of existing facilities and the establishment of ones needed that were hitherto non-existent, like parking space and so on. Finally, alternative concept A had the highest weight and was adopted as the best, which has a parking space at the periphery.

It discusses how the five managerial functions are exercised in law libraries in the Philippines based on the data in the study of the author. It also illustrates the need of the law libraries to collaborate, and discusses the model of a law library consortium proposed by Jaafar (2012). The views of the administrators of the parent institutions of the participant law libraries on their libraries and the propose consortium (based on the said study) are also discussed. At the end of the chapter, some of the recommendations in the aforementioned study were adopted and updated based on the emerging trends and other references for further studies. </jats:p
Feasibility of groundwater recharge dam projects in arid environments
A new method for determining feasibility and prioritizing investments for agricultural and domestic recharge dams in arid regions is developed and presented. The method is based on identifying the factors affecting the decision making process and evaluating these factors, followed by determining the indices in a GIS-aided environment. Evaluated parameters include results from field surveys and site visits, land cover and soils data, precipitation data, runoff data and modeling, number of beneficiaries, domestic irrigation demand, reservoir objectives, demography, reservoirs yield and reliability, dam structures, construction costs, and operation and maintenance costs. Results of a case study on more than eighty proposed dams indicate that assessment of reliability, annualized cost-demand satisfied and yield is crucial prior to investment decision making in arid areas. Irrigation demand is the major influencing parameter on yield and reliability of recharge dams, even when only 3. months of the demand were included. Reliability of the proposed reservoirs as related to their standardized size and net inflow was found to increase with increasing yield. High priority dams were less than 4percent of the total, and less priority dams amounted to 23percent, with the remaining found to be not feasible. The results of this methodology and its application has proved effective in guiding stakeholders for defining most favorable sites for preliminary and detailed design studies and commissioning. © 2014.Adiat KAN, 2013, PURE APPL GEOPHYS, V170, P453, DOI 10.1007-s00024-012-0501-9; ALMUTTAIR FF, 1994, J WATER RES PL-ASCE, V120, P749, DOI 10.1061-(ASCE)0733-9496(1994)120:6(749); Al-Qurashi A, 2008, J HYDROL, V355, P91, DOI 10.1016-j.jhydrol.2008.03.022; Al-Turbak Abdulaziz S., 1989, INT J WATER RESOUR D, V5, P119, DOI 10.1080-07900628908722423; Andersen GR, 2001, J GEOTECH GEOENVIRON, V127, P335, DOI 10.1061-(ASCE)1090-0241(2001)127:4(335); Bartholome E, 2005, INT J REMOTE SENS, V26, P1959, DOI 10.1080-01431160412331291297; Chouinard L., 1996, J INFRASTRUCT SYST, DOI 10. 1061-(ASCE) 1076-0342(1996) 2: 1(23), 23-29; Department of Land Management, 1985, GEN SOIL MAP SAUD AR; Directorate of Projects Implementation, 2006, DAMS SAUD AR; Haimerl G., 2004, GROUNDWATER RECHARGE; Hydrology Division, 1983, HYDR PUBL, V98; Jarvis A, 2008, HOLE FILLED SEAMLESS; Koustoyiannis D., 2004, ENCY WATER; Lange J, 1999, WATER RESOUR RES, V35, P2161, DOI 10.1029-1999WR900038; Maidment D.R., 2002, ARC HYDRO GIS WATER; McIntyre N, 2009, ENVIRON MODELL SOFTW, V24, P726, DOI 10.1016-j.envsoft.2008.11.001; MICHAUD J, 1994, WATER RESOUR RES, V30, P593, DOI 10.1029-93WR03218; NASA, 2008, UMD LANDC CLASS; Natural Resources Conservation Service, 1997, NAT ENG HDB 630; PEGRAM GGS, 1980, J HYDROL, V47, P269, DOI 10.1016-0022-1694(80)90097-9; PILGRIM DH, 1988, HYDROLOG SCI J, V33, P379, DOI 10.1080-02626668809491261; Rijsberman FR, 2006, AGR WATER MANAGE, V80, P5, DOI 10.1016-j.agwat.2005.07.001; Saudi Geological Survey, 2008, HOW TO ORD; Shovic H.F., 2010, WATERSHED MANAGEMENT, P1094; Tizro A.T., 2007, J APPL SCI, V7; UNEP, 1997, WORLD ATLAS DESERTIF; U.S. Weather Bureau, 1958, TP 29 RAINF INT FREQ; Zakhem Boulos Abou, 2012, Hydrological Processes, V26, DOI 10.1002-hyp.84460
Penggunaan tasybih dan isti'arah dalam cerpen Arab dan Melayu : satu perbandingan / Nurul Ashiqin binti Jaafar
This dissertation entitled "Comparison Tasybih and Isti‘arah in Arabic and Malay Stories", discuss about comparison study between Arabic and Malay stories. The aim of this research is to introduce of the styles of tasybih and isti‘arah (style of comparative language) in Arab and Malay short stories. Tasybih and isti‘arah is a form of Arab rhetoric that led to the study and teaching of effective communication through the use of proper language style according to language experts. It not only describes the structure of a brief, but included definitions and examples as well as comparisons between tasybih and isti‘arah in Arabic and Malay. This dissertation study compares the language metaphor in Arabic and Malay short stories by two eminent authors of Naguib Mahfouz and Anwar Ridhwan. The aim of the study aspect of language styles in Arabic and Malay as well as examine the similarities and differences.
In addition, two authors sustainably equity selection from Egypt and Malaysia is based on achievement, strengths and tendencies in their respective fields of writing prose, especially short stories. Both materials also never made a comparative study or analysis of text-Arabic Malay researchers earlier. For Naguib Mahfouz, in his selected short stories entitled Nisf Yaum (Separuh Hari) and Al-Hawi Khatafa at-Tabaq (Tukang Silap Mata Melarikan Pingganku). Meanwhile, Anwar Ridhwan, in his selected short story entitled “Perjalanan Terakhir”. The main finding of this study is the style of language used by Naguib Mahfouz in his works mostly direct the view to use tasybih and isti‘arah in a parable in his short stories and the style of language used by Anwar Ridhwan in his writing more overlap or are indirect. At the end, the author will discuss the conclusion of the study, and some suggestions that are considered should be brought to attention of certain parties. Hopefully, this study will bring benefits to all

relationships between tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) lines to improve
hybridization breeding. The genetic diversity and relationships among 24
tomato lines were evaluated by simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers. A
total of 65 bands were generated with 15 SSR primers, of which 64 bands
were polymorphic. The mean polymorphic information content was 0.356.
There was a high degree of polymorphism between tomato cultivars. The
mean marker index and heterozygosity were 0.045 and 0.454, respectively.
Cluster analysis grouped cultivars into 6 main clusters. The cvs. Mo. H. P,
'C. C. Orange', and 'Marb' had the greatest genetic distance from other
cultivars and is suitable for hybridization to achieve maximum variability
for selection in segregating populations. The data can be used to select
appropriate parents in tomato hybridization breeding
Integrating rubber with sentang - current agroforestry practice / Ahmed Azhar Jaafar … [et al.]
In a research conducted to gather information about the agroforestry practices in Peninsular Malaysia, integration of plantation crop (rubber) and timber tree (sentang) was found to be the most common. type (27.3%). Smallholder farmers preferred sentang, a fast growing timber species to supplement the low income generated by rubber especially during the low productive periods and during replanting. Most farmers employed hedge planting system (70%) which can be either alternate rows or alternate strips. Sentang tends to grow faster in rubber plantations but has smaller trunk diameter than in oil palm plantations. Normal agricultural management practices were implemented as in monocropping but no adverse effects in relation to plant growth and yield to the plantation crop (rubber) was observed. This indicates that integration of rubber and sentang is a viable approach to improve farm income
The integration of plantation crops with timber species in Malaysia / Ahmed Azhar Jaafar ... [et al.]
Agroforestry activities were studied focusing on the integration of plantation crops (oil palm and rubber) with timber species (sentang and teak). The study involves government and private agencies and farmers practicing this type of agroforestry activities. It has been found that the most common type of integration involves rubber and sentang implemented by smallholder farmers to supplement the low income generated by rubber especially during the low productive periods and during replanting of the main crops. The study has shown that most respondents applied the normal agricultural management practices as in monocrops
but has not experienced any adverse effects in relation to plant growth and yield (crops and timber trees). This indicates that integration of crop plants and timber species is a viable approach to improve farm income. However the respondents do indicate the need for more
technical advice from related agencies to improve the implementation of their integration programs and acquire better outcomes in terms of yield and income

Orbitopterional Approach for the Resection of a Suprasellar Craniopharyngioma: Adapting the Strategy to the Microsurgical and Pathologic Anatomy
Objectives To describe the orbitopterional approach for the resection of a suprasellar craniopharyngioma with emphasis on the microsurgical and pathological anatomy of such lesions.
Design After completing the orbitopterional craniotomy in one piece including a supraorbital ridge osteotomy, the Sylvian fissure was split in a distal to proximal direction. The ipsilateral optic nerve and internal carotid artery were identified. Establishing a corridor to the tumor through both the opticocarotid and optic cisterns allowed for a wide angle of attack. Using both corridors, a microsurgical gross total resection was achieved. A radical resection required transection of the stalk at the level of the hypothalamus. Photographs of the region are borrowed from Dr Rhoton's laboratory to illustrate the microsurgical anatomy. Understanding the cisternal and topographic relationships of the optic nerve, optic chiasm, and internal carotid artery is critical to achieving gross total resection while preserving normal anatomy.
Participants The surgery was performed by the senior author assisted by Dr. Jaafar Basma. The video was edited by Dr. Vincent Nguyen.
Outcome Measures Outcome was assessed with extent of resection and postoperative visual function.
Results A gross total resection of the tumor was achieved. The patient had resolution of her bitemporal hemianopsia. She had diabetes insipidus with normal anterior pituitary function.
Conclusions Understanding the microsurgical anatomy of the suprasellar region and the pathological anatomy of craniopharyngiomas is necessary to achieve a good resection of these tumors. The orbitopterional approach provides the appropriate access for such endeavor. The link to the video can be found at: https://youtu.be/Be6dtYIGqfs.</jats:p
